Chapter 303: Final Exams Are Over
“Finally, it’s all done!”
On Thursday afternoon, Ning Chu submitted her final assignment, wrapping up her last exam.
Written exams were a hassle; she had to review and maintain her energy. But for some specialized subject exams, all she had to do was submit qualifying works.
Fortunately, thanks to Wen Yang’s help, she had completed those works long ago, so there was no need to worry about failing.
“So when are you planning to go back?”
“Tomorrow? Or maybe the day after?”
Ning Chu turned back, wrapped her arm around Wen Yang’s and said with a playful smile, “We’re going out to have fun tomorrow! We can go home the day after~”
“Let’s go to the amusement park! Last time, we didn’t get to enjoy it properly!”
“Sure!”
Previously, when they went with her roommates, she had only her allowance from her mother. She couldn’t afford any real rides and ended up just playing ring toss and fishing for goldfish, those tiny games.
Now, Ning Chu was feeling affluent; her earnings from writing were over two thousand a month!
“Are you brave enough to go to the haunted house?” She elbowed Wen Yang playfully. “With your level of courage, you’d better not cling to me and freeze up!”
“……”
Wen Yang wasn’t exactly brave, but in front of his girlfriend, even if he was quaking in his boots, he’d still put on a calm face so he wouldn’t embarrass himself.
“Should we invite Shao Qing and Wang Jie?”
Ning Chu didn’t hesitate to shake her head, “What’s the point of inviting them?”
She didn’t want her old roommates watching her act affectionately with Wen Yang. Even though she knew they had long regarded her as one of the girls, she still felt a little awkward, thinking she should appear more feminine around them.
After waiting in the hallway for a moment, Yan Xinya, Lily, and Zhang Shao Qing came out one by one after submitting their papers.
“Shao Qing, how’s your progress these last couple of days?”
Ning Chu felt that since Zhang Shao Qing had gotten her incomplete guide, there should be some developments with Qian Qian.
“Yesterday, I gave her a Musang king durian, and she seemed to really like it…”
Yan Xinya chimed in, “She even asked me today where I bought that durian! She definitely loves it!”
“Really?”
Zhang Shao Qing looked at Ning Chu in amazement; he had only given Qian Qian the durian on a whim, and he hadn’t expected her to actually enjoy it.
He perked up immediately, recalling the “strategy” Ning Chu had suggested.
Unfortunately, it was already the last day of the semester, and even though Qian Qian had supervising duties, she probably needed to leave the school soon.
“Wait! You all just forgot about me!”
Wang Jie’s sorrowful voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts.
Everyone turned around. Wang Jie had just come out of the exam hall, looking utterly desolate. “What’s going on? Why are you all waiting for me?”
“You’re not a girl, why would we wait for you?” Zhang Shao Qing casually shoved his hands into his pockets, sneering at him. “You’ve been busy rewriting your assignments for so long, we couldn’t be bothered to wait.”
“It’s not my fault you all forgot about me…”
Feeling too lazy to engage with Wang Jie, he flashed a somewhat fawning smile and leaned closer to Ning Chu.
But Wen Yang immediately wrapped his arm around Ning Chu’s shoulder, shooting him a wary glance.
“d*mn! You’re jealous of me?!”
“Nope.”
Wen Yang actually tightened his grip on Ning Chu, even going so far as to switch places with her.
“Seriously! You don’t trust me, huh?”
Ning Chu chuckled silently, munching on her thoughts. She wasn’t keen on talking much with Zhang Shao Qing either; he was just annoying.
Just a couple of days ago, he was fine with questioning her credibility while teaching the strategy! Now he was acting all nice and flattering, as if trying to please someone.
“Wen Yang, Wen Yang, I need to ask Ning Chu something.”
“Ning Chu doesn’t want to talk to you.”
Hearing this, Ning Chu promptly nodded her head vigorously, “Right, don’t want to!”
“I’m treating everyone to a big dinner tonight! It’s the last day, let’s eat together.”
“How big?” Ning Chu turned away, looking unimpressed, “I can afford my own meals, you know.”
“Seafood! We’ll have lobster!”
For Zhang Shao Qing, anything that could be solved with money wasn’t a problem.
And since it wasn’t his wallet, Ning Chu felt no guilt about squeezing money out of the antagonist. As soon as she heard about lobsters, she nodded eagerly, “I’ll send you all the intel I have later.”
Yan Xinya’s eyes sparkled, her fluffy tail turning into a little fan, as she leaned in, “Do Lily and I get a share?”
“Of course! But can you help me invite Qian Qian out for dinner too?”
“I’ll give it a shot?”
“Great, I’m counting on you!” Zhang Shao Qing hooked his arm around Yan Xinya’s shoulders and lowered his voice, “Just lure her out~ It’s the last day; I have to leave a good impression on Qian Qian so we can chat online during winter break.”
Wolf Girl didn’t mind physical contact with guys; she even hooked her arm around him playfully and asked, “So, will you treat me to a special dish too? I can eat a lot.”
“You got it! And can you help me fix up my outfit and style my hair like a domineering president?”
Zhang Shao Qing remembered Ning Chu had mentioned that Qian Qian liked strong, assertive types.
“Leave it to me~”
Everything was amiable until Wang Jie interjected, looking a bit forlorn, “I can’t make it to dinner; I have a train at six.”
“Six? So early?” Zhang Shao Qing frowned in dissatisfaction, “You plan on ditching the bros for dinner on the last day? Change the ticket.”
“No, I’m going to see my girlfriend. She booked the ticket for me.”
“Oh, well then.” He shook his head with a heavy sigh, like he was giving Wang Jie a benediction, warning him in a serious tone, “Just take care of yourself tonight~”
Wang Jie’s face went pale, subconsciously covering his waist.
Lily shot him a glance and immediately understood the situation; a sly smile crept across her cold face.
So it’s true that guys can’t handle the heat; toys are definitely better. As long as they’re charged, you can play as long as you want…
“Seven o’clock tonight, seafood feast at the street behind the school.”
“Okay, Wen Yang and I will wander around a bit first.”
Under the teaching building, Ning Chu temporarily said goodbye to the others.
Since the rental apartment was far, she didn’t plan on heading to the boys’ dormitory either. Instead, she wrapped her arm around Wen Yang’s and aimlessly walked along the school path.
A lot of students were rushing out with bags in hand, the campus visibly becoming quieter.
“Wen Yang…”
“Hmm?”
Ning Chu pulled her scarf up to cover half her face, making her look even cuter.
She lifted her head, her crescent moon-like eyes sparkling as she smiled at Wen Yang, “Let’s take a photo together?”
“Sure.”
“Find a nice spot!”
“How about that artificial lake in the park up ahead? The view is decent.”
“That place… I’m afraid we’ll bump into some wild mandarin ducks.”
Ning Chu mumbled, but she followed Wen Yang into the park anyway. They arrived at the artificial lake and sat side by side on a wooden bench.
She raised her phone, taking a couple of scenic shots while musing, “I’ll show off my school to my brother when I get back…”
Then she switched to selfie mode, held the phone high, and leaned in close to Wen Yang, cheek to cheek. “Don’t move! I’m about to snap it!”
Wen Yang froze, afraid the photo would turn out terrible.
“Why do you look like you’re being forced to do this? Smile a little!”
“Your smile looks terrible! You’re trying too hard!”
“You moved just now!”
“You… mmm!”
Wen Yang finally lost it and directly silenced Ning Chu’s incessant chatter with a kiss.
“What was that sound?”
“Probably a game outdoors? Must be pretty tough in this cold~”
I’M A WILD MANDARIN DUCK NOW?!
It was just a kiss!
