306. Amusement Park
When Ning Chu woke up, she was still nestled in Wen Yang’s embrace.
She was only wearing sheer underwear, but having a big warm buddy in the freezing winter meant she didn’t feel cold at all.
Without realizing it, she had snuggled closer to Wen Yang. They were pressed against each other, and even though he was still half-asleep, she could already make out his shape.
Ning Chu had long gotten used to being in danger, but her body still couldn’t help but squirm.
She was afraid that if Wen Yang woke up and caught her again, he wouldn’t let her go. In a hurry, she wriggled out of the covers, only to be met with the cold morning air that sent her diving back into Wen Yang’s embrace.
Brrr, it’s so cold!
She shivered uncontrollably.
“What time is it?”
Wen Yang stirred awake from her movement, his voice hoarse in her ear.
His breath tickled her ear, turning it a lovely shade of crimson.
She reached for her mobile phone to check and squeaked, “Eight o’clock! Oh no! We’re going to be late for class!”
Ignoring how cold it was outside the covers, she scrambled to get up, but a solid arm wrapped around her, keeping her in place. “It’s already eight! Why are you still holding on to me?”
“It’s winter break!”
“…”
Ning Chu was momentarily stunned before the realization hit her.
Her tense body immediately relaxed, and with a yawn, she flopped back into Wen Yang’s arms, mumbling, “You should have said so earlier.”
“Didn’t we say we were going to the amusement park? What time are we leaving?”
“Let’s just lie here a little longer.”
Though she didn’t feel sleepy, she relished the warmth of Wen Yang’s embrace and was unwilling to uncover herself to face the cold outside.
Curled up on her side, she held her phone to read a novel while Wen Yang quietly embraced her, his forehead resting against the back of her head, enjoying the peaceful morning.
Outside, muffled voices and car sounds filtered in from the street, and soft morning light spilled through the thin curtains, casting a warm, hazy glow that illuminated the dust in the air and slightly warmed up the room.
But before long, Ning Chu began to squirm restlessly, humiliatingly jolting upright.
Wen Yang’s gaze immediately landed on her. The flimsy lingerie barely hid anything, and the fiery look made her blush even more.
“Quit staring!”
In a reflex, she covered her sensitive areas with her hands, shooting a glare at Wen Yang.
His hungry-wolf eyes made her panic. She couldn’t linger, fearing he’d pounce and gobble her up. She sprang off the bed and dashed into the bathroom.
“I’m going to take a shower!”
She hurriedly scrambled off the bed, barefoot, and dashed into the bathroom.
However, just as she stripped down to enjoy her shower, she suddenly realized she hadn’t brought any clean clothes inside.
“Wen Yang, could you grab me some clothes?”
Ning Chu yelled towards the door.
A moment later, Wen Yang called back from outside, “Sure, want to shower together?”
He opened the door slightly, only to be drenched by a stream of hot water.
Caught off guard, he jumped back with a yelp, “That’s hot!”
“Come on~” Ning Chu’s half face peeked through the crack in the door, playfully holding the shower head. “If you’re not afraid of being scalded, come on in!”
“……”
Wen Yang simply couldn’t comprehend how Ning Chu could shower with such scorching water.
Just as she didn’t understand how he could bear cold showers in winter.
“I’ll head downstairs to buy breakfast for you.”
“I want noodles!”
“Okay.”
After showering and eating breakfast, around ten o’clock, the two caught a bus to the amusement park.
Even though most schools were on break, the weather was cold, and the amusement park was a bit remote. When they finally got off the bus and arrived at the entrance, they found only a handful of visitors.
Fewer people meant no waiting in lines, and Ning Chu preferred it that way.
She linked her arm with Wen Yang, occasionally rubbing her icy hands on his arm. Excitedly looking around, she dragged him all over the amusement park.
“Wen Yang! Roller coaster!”
“Do you want to ride it?”
“I’m too scared!”
Ning Chu had always been a bit afraid of heights, the kind who wouldn’t dare look down even from a safe railing. Riding something so thrilling, she feared her heart wouldn’t take it.
Wen Yang turned to the Rapid River Ride, a small water coaster: “How about this one?”
“No way! It’s too cold, I’d be freezing if I get wet.”
“How about the Pirate Ship?”
“That looks scary too…”
Before coming, she had wanted to try everything, but after wandering a bit, Ning Chu sadly realized she was too afraid to ride anything.
As a child, she was quite brave, fearing almost nothing except heights, and was willing to try everything in the amusement park… but the older she got, the more timid she became.
“Then you should ride the carousel?” Seeing her frightened face, Wen Yang couldn’t help but tease, “That one’s perfect for you.”
“That’s too childish!”
“How about the Ferris Wheel?”
“I’m afraid of heights!”
With a resigned sigh, Wen Yang exclaimed, “You’re on the ground, what’s there to be scared of?”
That made sense, didn’t it?
Ning Chu had long been curious about the Ferris Wheel she often saw in dramas, so with that encouragement, she immediately pulled Wen Yang towards it.
But once they boarded the Ferris Wheel, she immediately regretted it.
“It’s so shaky…”
Clutching the safety bar tightly, her face turned pale. As soon as they sat down, she wanted to get off, but the door was sealed tight and they were already wobbling away from the ground.
Wen Yang curiously glanced around the cabin and peeked through the glass to look outside. “The view is pretty nice.”
Ning Chu followed his gaze and looked out at the expansive amusement park, her heart skipped a beat, her palms sweaty. She quickly turned her head and closed her eyes, “No, I’m afraid of heights…”
Her heart was racing, and her tail under her skirt was stiff. With a pale face, she trembled and asked, “It’s so wobbly, we won’t fall, will we?”
“Not likely?”
With no sense of security from being on solid ground, as the cabin climbed higher, the wind blew against it, causing a slight sway that made it feel like they could plummet at any moment.
This made Ning Chu instinctively shut her eyes tight, her muscles tense to the point of immobility.
Wen Yang, who had originally sat across from her, scooched closer. She released her grip on the safety bars and clutched his arm tightly, burying her face in his shoulder, her complexion ghostly white.
“Wen Yang…”
Feeling the little succubus’s trembling body and her soft curves, Wen Yang finally understood why so many guys liked taking girls to watch horror movies.
Although Ning Chu wasn’t afraid of horror films, the effect of her fear of heights on the Ferris Wheel was just as dramatic.
Holding her in his arms, he perked up instantly: “How about we check out the Haunted House after this?”
“Let’s just get down first…”
