351. The Thoughtful Lily
Though she had just woken up a little while ago, Ning Chu felt completely out of sorts.
She was sprawled on the sofa like a lethargic fish, blankly staring at the TV screen showing some drama, barely making an effort to move.
Yan Xinya, despite claiming that staying indoors for a day would drive her insane, was the one most engrossed in the show, clutching a bag of potato chips and munching away happily.
Lily leaned against Yan Xinya’s shoulder playing a mobile game, occasionally gasping in excitement and signaling the Wolf Girl to feed her chips.
“Am I going to play games in my room?”
“Go ahead, go ahead~”
Ning Chu stretched and got off the couch, heading to Lily’s bedroom. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, she turned on the game console but found herself lacking the motivation to play.
“This won’t work…”
She mumbled to herself, feeling like she was truly addicted. Her state of mind felt suspiciously like that of someone going through withdrawal from smoking or drinking.
But she had only played three times!
Luckily, she was in a different city; even if her motivation were sky-high, it would take her two hours to get back to Wen Yang’s rental apartment.
But Lily had plenty of toys…
Suddenly, a familiar itch surfaced in her mind. Ning Chu hesitated, shook her head vigorously, and attempted to focus on the game.
Just then, her phone screen lit up.
It was a message from Wen Yang.
He had worked the night shift yesterday, likely still at work when Ning Chu fell asleep.
He should be waking up now.
Ning Chu immediately tossed the game controller aside and grabbed her phone to check the message, complaining to Wen Yang, “It’s all your fault for spraining my ankle yesterday! My foot hurt like crazy while shopping with them this afternoon.”
“Want to go to the hospital?”
No need for that…
Though she claimed it hurt tremendously, the actual pain was quite mild, and her ankle was completely healed by now.
She was just indulging in some complaining.
Ning Chu hesitated and decided to initiate a video call with Wen Yang.
Moments later, Wen Yang’s upper body appeared on the screen, his toned “mermaid lines,” barely-visible abs, and smooth muscle contours were on full display.
Her gaze was immediately snagged, and she unconsciously felt her throat dry up, her tongue instinctively sliding across her lips.
“I’m brushing my teeth. I’ll pick up Black Bean around eleven, then head over for lunch.”
“From now on, I’ll be on a fixed night shift; I might occasionally swap shifts with my colleagues.”
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Wen Yang glanced down at his phone and saw Ning Chu’s dazed expression, along with a rosy glow on her cheeks.
“Nothing, I’m just playing the game console.”
Ning Chu finally snapped back to reality, her face turning red as she cleared her throat.
She was becoming more like a succubus! Unable to take her eyes off a man! Drooling like crazy.
“Just one night and you’re already thirsty?”
Hearing the teasing tone, she quickly glanced at the door, retorting, “No way! Don’t say that! If Lily and the others hear, I’ll be the laughing stock!”
“Not chatting anymore; I’m busy with the game.”
“Alright, I’m off to grab breakfast.”
Ning Chu worried she might really run across the city to find Wen Yang, so she ended the video call and dramatically flopped down on the floor.
This is a disaster!
Just a few months ago, he was still a man!
How did she end up being shaped by Wen Yang like this?!
Staring at Wen Yang’s muscles like a perverted lovesick fool!
“I think I just heard a man’s voice!” Yan Xinya suddenly poked her head in the door, her wide, sharp wolf ears perked up, and teased, “Why are you lying on the floor? Feeling under the weather? Missing Wen Yang already?”
“No.”
“Then you’re wanting some… fun?”
“Absolutely not!”
“You wouldn’t think you could hide anything from my nose, would you~?” The wolf girl boasted, wiggling her nose.
Dog nose!
Ning Chu mentally cursed; she could never hide anything from Yan Xinya.
She pushed aside her chaotic thoughts and sat up straight to continue her game. Yan Xinya scampered over, “Can I join?”
“Weren’t you watching the drama?”
“That show only has two episodes out!” the wolf girl huffed. “I can’t wait for tonight’s update! Otherwise, I have to pay for a membership!”
“Aren’t you a drama-lover? Too stingy to pay for one?”
“I’ve already paid for three memberships! That site isn’t even my go-to~ I feel like paying for a single show is a huge waste.”
Ning Chu didn’t watch dramas, but she could kinda understand Yan Xinya’s point.
She glanced at the game console and noticed Lily had a motion sensor camera, so she rummaged through a stack of games and found a motion-sensing dancing game similar to Just Dance.
Perfect!
Yan Xinya would definitely get the hang of a dance game quickly, and she needed some exercise too, to tire her body and mind so she wouldn’t daydream so much.
Lily also came into the bedroom, and seeing the two trying to dance with a paper figure, she was immediately enthusiastic and bounced to the bed, eager to join, though her expression remained as cool as ever.
But Ning Chu had barely learned any dancing skills in her life, the only thing she ever learned remotely related to dancing was the morning exercises.
Her coordination was terrible; she stumbled around like a clumsy monkey, running out of breath and sweating a little after just one song.
“You dance like a monkey,” Yan Xinya mocked.
Ning Chu shot her an annoyed look and moved to the side, “Lily, you go next; I’m exhausted.”
“Okay.”
Resting on the bed, after some exercise, Ning Chu could feel the yellow thoughts in her mind diminishing.
It works!
As they say, a full belly leads to a busy mind! If she just kept busy, she wouldn’t spiral into overthinking.
Just as she was reveling in her good fortune, a familiar wave of heat surged up from her lower abdomen.
Flames swept through her body like a wildfire, making her skin hot and her heartbeat and breathing intensify, along with an overwhelming itchiness, desire, and a longing feeling flooding her mind…
What the heck! Really now?
Ning Chu startled and blushed as she looked up, only to find Yan Xinya laughing and teasing her, having turned around.
“I’m going to the bathroom!”
She tried to get up, but her limbs felt like jelly, unable to support her.
“Lily~ Let’s just go watch the drama outside~” the wolf girl’s smile skyrocketed.
Lily turned to Ning Chu, noticing her poor state, and asked with concern, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine…”
Her face flushed as she hurried to the wardrobe, thoughtfully finding a large unopened box and placing it on the bed. “Wash this before use.”
“???”
No way! You don’t need to be this considerate!
Ning Chu shot an annoyed glare at Lily, but in her current state, it probably came off as soft and inviting, her big eyes brimming with embarrassment.
“Well then, we’ll step out for a bit~”
Yan Xinya and Lily left the bedroom amidst their playful chatter, shutting the door behind them.
With only herself left in the room, Ning Chu collapsed onto the bed, breathing heavily.
She wasn’t sure if Wen Yang triggered something.
But considering the timing, it undoubtedly was time for that sort of feeling to hit.
She barely managed to stand up, leaning against the wall as she made her way to the independent bathroom, but after taking just a step, her gaze uncontrollably fell on that big box.
She really didn’t need this much consideration…
