“School starts tomorrow~”
While munching on steaming dumplings, Ning Chu sighed, “Time flies so fast.”
Before she knew it, the first half of the semester and winter break had already passed. It seemed like she hadn’t done anything since she crossed over—barely listened in class, just muddled through.
In that half a year, the other protagonists probably have net worths in the millions by now, standing out from the crowd.
Meanwhile, she was just thinking about how to keep the Male Protagonist a virgin, only to realize she was the one left holding the bag!
Looking back at September of last year, Ning Chu pondered hard. Besides extreme measures like… you know, taking care of Wen Yang’s business, it seemed there weren’t many ways to turn things around.
Or rather, compared to becoming the school’s pet or a socialite known throughout the campus, things were… already pretty satisfying.
“Our instructor has changed again,” Wen Yang said while editing the class group announcement on his phone. As class leader, he always knew the latest campus news first. “Ning Chu, Lily, you two give me your student IDs later. We need them for check-in tomorrow.”
“Sure~”
Lily pulled her student ID from her pocket and placed it on the table.
“Ning Chu, you’re assigned to the same dorm as Lily,” Wen Yang continued.
“As expected.”
Though Lily’s dorm was already full, one roommate had applied to live off-campus, but they still had to pay the accommodation fee.
“Lily! Are you done? Do the cleaning for me!”
Ning Chu set down her bowl and turned to Lily.
“Mm.”
The Succubus remained as cool as ever, nodding with a blank expression, yet quickly shoved the last two dumplings into her mouth, cheeks puffing up like a baozi.
Looks like Mom’s dumplings hit the spot!
“If you like them, take the rest back to the dorm to eat?”
“Mm.”
Lily nodded, standing up to pull out a transparent toy from her luggage and place it on the bed: “A gift.”
“No need! Put it back!”
“Oh~”
With a hint of teasing in her eyes and no emotion on her face, it was clear this Succubus was deliberately getting back at Ning Chu for that earlier incident.
It was just being caught playing with toys at home, after all! Family didn’t need to expose her LSP core like that.
Women will hold grudges, huh? Over something so small?
If it were me…
I’d definitely hold a grudge even more than Lily!
“Wen Yang, wash the pot.”
“Alright!”
The once pampered protagonist was now being trained by Ning Chu into a perfect house husband. Wen Yang got up, grabbed the pot and other dishes, and walked toward the bathroom while saying, “By the way, I got my winter break paycheck. I’ll transfer it to you later.”
“Okay, I’ll keep it safe~”
“No need, buy whatever you want.”
“Then I’ll just splurge it all!”
In front of Wen Yang, Ning Chu opened her shopping app and started adding a game console, a mini fridge, computer parts—all into her cart: “I want them all!”
“Mm, go ahead and buy, but my little earnings might not cover it all?”
Seeing Wen Yang had no objections, she immediately lost interest: “Forget it, better save it to buy you some good food…”
“Buy whatever you want.”
“No, I don’t really care, but then you won’t be able to afford meals later.”
When school first started last year, while Wen Yang was tall and sturdy, he still had some youthful paleness. After six months of her feeding, her Male Protagonist was visibly more robust and looked healthier.
All thanks to me!
Looking up at her “achievement,” Ning Chu happily deposited Wen Yang’s transferred money into her savings app and turned to Lily, only to find the girl looking enviously forlorn. Noticing her gaze, Lily quickly turned her head, silently starting to help with the cleaning.
Saying she had no interest in men, but deep down, she probably wished for a romance.
But Ning Chu thought, she didn’t have any suitable men around for introducing to this Succubus.
Her brother’s build wouldn’t have cut it with Lily either — thank goodness they didn’t end up together, or with Xiao Xi around, his kidneys would have been toast in a week.
Thought her brother had a little Succubus bl**d; his kidneys should be decent.
Turns out, being big wasn’t much use!
After an hour, the trio finished a thorough cleaning of the small room.
Lily took the leftover dumplings back to the dorm, Wen Yang was on the rooftop hanging out the bedding, while Ning Chu sat in front of her computer, propping her chin on one hand in a daze.
Even though school was starting soon, and cleaning was exhausting, she still had to put in the daily words.
The problem was she didn’t know what to write…
After two lines, Ning Chu’s attention shifted to a gaming forum.
Moments later, Wen Yang pushed open the door and glanced around the room, asking, “Where’s Lily?”
“She left when you went upstairs to hang the bedding.”
“Mm.” He sat next to Ning Chu, glancing at the quickly closed novel document, teasing, “Why still hiding it from me? Is there something I don’t know?”
“I can’t write with someone around when I’m working on my novel!” Ning Chu turned her head and shot him a glare. “Go sit on the sofa! Don’t bother me here.”
“Once you update, I can see anyway…”
“Even if you can see, don’t tell me anything~ It’s too awkward!”
Ning Chu kicked Wen Yang in annoyance, but soon squinted her eyes, leaning over to peek at his phone screen: “Let me see if you’re flirting with girls!”
But the screen had a job-hunting app.
Frowning in dissatisfaction, she asked, “Why are you looking for jobs again? Night shifts?”
“Of course, I need to make some money.”
“We’re not short on cash, okay?” She huffed while calculating, “Your four to five thousand from winter break, plus my living allowance and royalties, we have over seven thousand in savings!”
“If we eat from the cafeteria every meal, we can last three months, and in those three months, I’ll still get royalties and allowances.”
Wen Yang fell silent, looking down at his phone without responding.
Having once been a man, Ning Chu quickly realized what he was thinking, her expression softening, her tone becoming gentler.
“During college, don’t worry about making money. Besides, the outside world is full of bad women! Just occasionally do some weekend gigs.”
Wen Yang smiled wryly, nodding. “The problem is weekend gig money isn’t enough; I’ve been supported by you all semester.”
“Then just be a kept man~ Plus, didn’t you pay me back five thousand?”
“And then there’s the wedding gift, house, car, and…”
“Stop, stop, stop! I don’t want to hear this!” Ning Chu clasped her ears, shaking her head quickly. “Let’s just make money together after graduation! Why worry about so much now? You’re the Male Protagonist, okay! With the protagonist’s halo, making money in the future will be smooth sailing!”
“This is just early investment! Now that you’re down and out, I’m supporting you so when you get rich, I can stay home and be a wealthy woman!”
Seeing her little head shaking like crazy, Wen Yang couldn’t help but laugh, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll ditch you once I’m successful?”
Ning Chu froze, then fiercely declared, “Then I’ll turn you into a girl in my novel! You’ll be the one suffering every day!”
“That’ll scare me to d*ath.”
“Scared, huh~” She puffed out her chest proudly, “I’m your author!”
Though it’s the author being pinned down by the Male Protagonist…
