392. A Terrible Idea
“Do I really need to? You’re making it sound like I’ve eaten a person or something…”
“You can always come to me if you need anything. I’ll help with whatever I can—anything at all~”
An An teased with a laugh as she pushed open the office door. “Come on in.”
Ning Chu timidly followed Wen Yang into the office. Inside, another teacher was working, looked up briefly at the newcomers, and greeted them. “An An, you’re a new instructor now, feel free to ask me if you don’t understand anything.”
“Sure~”
Looks like this female ghost isn’t such a bad person after all.
Wait a minute, that teacher isn’t also a ghost, is she?
Ning Chu squinted suspiciously at the middle-aged teacher, scrutinizing her for a moment, but couldn’t figure out anything unusual.
As she followed An An to the desk, she couldn’t help but daydream a bit.
This ghost, has she really turned over a new leaf?
But upon reflection, An An didn’t seem to have done anything wrong, per se. She just liked flirting with men everywhere. The only mishap reported on the school forum involved a timid boy who got startled by the sudden appearance of the ghost and accidentally twisted his ankle.
So, maybe she’s just a ghost with a messy personal life?
Ning Chu instinctively moved a bit closer to Wen Yang, watching An An warily.
“I never force anyone, and I’m not interested in your little boyfriend, so relax,” An An said, digging a stamp out of her drawer. “Do you have no classes later? Here, let’s stamp your student ID—first year, second semester. Don’t mess it up.”
“???”
Wen Yang paused for a moment before speaking. “I don’t want to be the class leader.”
“You aren’t going to? Why? Afraid of me? Where else am I supposed to find a class leader now?”
“I think Yan Xinya would be a better fit. You seem to know her.”
“That silly husky?”
Ning Chu suddenly felt a connection with An An.
Turns out there are others like her who see Yan Xinya as a husky and not a wolf!
“Yan Xinya is nowhere near as capable as you!”
“!!!”
An An immediately got fired up, pulling Wen Yang behind her and shooting a furious glare.
“???”
An An froze for a second, then gave Wen Yang a strange look. “What kind of stuff is your girlfriend thinking about?”
“This…”
Ning Chu felt her ears turn red, awkwardly turning to look elsewhere.
It wasn’t that she had a dirty mind; she was just overly vigilant about the female ghost since her boyfriend’s purity was on the line!
An An sighed helplessly and waved her hand. “Okay, let’s just get to work. Let Xinya handle the class leader position.”
“An An, it’s time for the meeting.”
“Alright~”
Another teacher in the office called out, and An An immediately stood up, grabbing a briefcase. “Just put it over there when you’re done, and remember to close the door when you leave.”
“I have to go to a meeting now. See you.”
Before long, only Wen Yang and Ning Chu were left in the office.
The two exchanged glances, and after a brief moment, Wen Yang asked, “Why does it feel like this female ghost is pretty easy to talk to?”
“It’s probably just a disguise!”
Ning Chu saw through the facade. “Our first instructor, what was her name… she seemed easy to talk to, but behind the scenes, she was trying to get handsy with Xinya!”
“If it weren’t for Xinya being trained, she would have ended up with that husky ghost!”
“True.”
People are often not what they seem, especially when it comes to ghosts.
Right now, An An looks friendly and approachable, but who knows what she might do to the boys later!
Ning Chu paused, recalling An An’s pretty face and figure, suddenly questioning whether it would be a temptation or a threat to the boys…
After all, An An was a supporting character to Little Emperor Wen, and her stunning looks and body were sure to attract most guys’ interest.
Wen Yang nodded. “Anyway, I’m no longer the class leader. Apart from class meetings, there’s basically no chance I’ll see her again.”
“Quick, stamp it! I’m in a rush to get back to writing.”
“Alright.”
Stamping the student ID didn’t take long at all, and in no time, they left the office.
Things turned out better than expected; the female ghost hadn’t made any blatant flirtations toward Wen Yang, but maybe she was just playing the long game.
As they stepped out of the teaching building, Ning Chu finally relaxed. She let out a sigh, but a cold breeze made her shiver.
Wen Yang’s tall figure blocked most of the cold wind as he asked, “Want to grab a meal at the cafeteria before heading back?”
“Sounds good?”
Ning Chu rubbed her belly. She wasn’t that hungry but was too lazy to order takeout later.
After all, takeout was quite a bit more expensive than the cafeteria.
The weather was still cold, and it was class time, so there weren’t many students around the school.
As they walked into the cafeteria, Ning Chu quickly spotted Qian Qian and Yan Xinya sitting in a corner.
“You go get lunch; I’ll go say hi,” she instructed Wen Yang. “And remember to get some sauced ribs—I suddenly have a craving.”
“Got it, sauced ribs, mildly spicy?”
“Yeah, mildly spicy!”
Ning Chu nodded and then ditched Wen Yang, dashing over to sit down next to Yan Xinya.
“Xinya! Teacher Qian! What are we chatting about?”
“You’re here?” Yan Xinya looked up at her, frowning. “We were talking about Shao Qing. Teacher Qian said he’s been pretty distant with her lately, and she doesn’t know why.”
“Yeah, especially after the new year… I’m starting to suspect he doesn’t like me anymore.”
Qian Qian rested her cheeks on her hands, looking just as worried.
“How can that be? If he didn’t like you, he wouldn’t have chased you for a whole month and been so invested!”
“But guys are so fickle…”
Ning Chu listened to their conversation, piecing everything together.
Since Qian Qian had developed feelings for Zhang Shaoqing, the guy had lost interest. Although he still passed, he was clearly slacking off, and Qian Qian noticed.
What to do now?
She twirled a lock of hair around her finger, deep in thought about how to help her son with this mess of a relationship.
Being a mom is tough work~
“Ning Chu, you’re pretty close to Shao Qing. Has he said anything to you?”
Ning Chu naturally wouldn’t betray her son, shaking her head rapidly. “How would I know… once Wen Yang gets back with the food, you can ask him.”
But then she suddenly had a lightbulb moment, looking at Qian Qian. “I have an idea, do you want to try it?”
“Ideas?”
“Yeah! I know Shao Qing well~ He loves a bit of excitement! You might have to play some tricks with him…”
“???”
Qian Qian blinked, her cheeks instantly flushing red.
Ignoring her beet-red face, Ning Chu strategized. “From now on, act aloof around him, ignore him, and it’d be best if you invented a boyfriend and mentioned him from time to time to provoke him.”
“Isn’t that a bit too much?”
Oh, it’s perfect!
That thick-skinned guy loves the chase! He loves it when girls act like they don’t like him!
“The cooler you are, the more he’ll want you~ He loves the thrill of winning over the unattainable beauty~”
Yan Xinya chimed in. “He’s practically had a car run over his face already…”
“When did I drive a car?”
