399. Hospital
During the ten-minute break in English class, Ning Chu was already itching for the school day to end.
“Quick, go to the pharmacy!”
She was thrown into a panic by Yan Xinya’s teasing, increasingly convinced that she might actually be pregnant.
That would be terrifying!
As soon as Wen Yang heard this, he shot out of the classroom and raced toward the school pharmacy like a superhero on a mission.
Ning Chu sat anxiously in class, her face etched with worry. She started looking up school policies on the official website, her mind racing with thoughts about what she’d do if it turned out to be true.
Although the school rules didn’t explicitly say that you’d get kicked out if you got pregnant, the school forum had a couple of horror stories.
Oh no, oh no…
If she had to carry a baby, with her and Wen Yang’s capabilities, there’s no way they’d be able to raise it. Her mother would surely end up dealing with all the chaos.
Last semester, she left “Daughter” Black Bean with her mom; this semester, she’d have to take a leave of absence with a baby bump… Wouldn’t that get her killed?!
Should she call her mom in advance and give her a heads up?
Seeing her fidgeting and unable to stay still, Yan Xinya couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty and mumbled, “I was just saying it casually, you shouldn’t take it seriously…”
“But I’ve been feeling kinda weird lately!”
At first, Ning Chu didn’t think too much about it, but then Aunt Flo was late, her flow was light, and she suddenly craved sour foods. How could she ignore all the signs that pointed toward pregnancy?
Thank goodness there were no sudden waves of nausea; otherwise, that would be the final confirmation!
“What if it’s something else?”
“Who knows… let’s wait for Wen Yang to come back.”
She couldn’t stay put any longer, so she stood up and started pacing the hallway, sneaking glances down the staircase, trying to spot Wen Yang.
Yan Xinya and Lily followed her out to keep her company.
“It’s all Xinya’s fault,” Lily said, her usual icy expression softening with worry.
Wolf Girl hung her head, feeling guilty and guilty, and just didn’t know what to say.
Before long, Wen Yang came charging up the stairs.
“That was fast?”
“I went to the medical room.”
Ning Chu hurried over to grab the pregnancy test and disposable cup he handed her. She looked up to see Wen Yang’s warm, sunny smile and felt a bit more at ease, then dashed into the bathroom.
“Wait, can you do it?”
“I’ll look it up online!”
Wen Yang followed closely behind her, eventually stopping at the bathroom door. Watching her petite frame disappear inside, his smile quickly faded, replaced with furrowed brows and a tidal wave of worry.
He sighed, his emotions a tangled mess, his brain temporarily overloaded with anxiety.
But after a moment, he suddenly realized he had to say something. He beckoned to Yan Xinya and Lily, “You guys go in there and keep an eye on her. If she gets too anxious, she might faint.”
It was still break time, and with all the girls in the restroom, there was no way he could barge in.
“Huh? We have to go now?”
Yan Xinya paused for a moment before dragging Lily along toward the bathroom.
Before long, the class bell rang.
Wen Yang anxiously paced the hallway, muttering to himself, “Why isn’t she out yet…”
What if she really was pregnant? Would they terminate it or keep it? Ning Chu had always seemed deeply opposed to having kids, right?
She shouldn’t have listened to Ning Chu. When that little succubus got a wild idea in bed, she wouldn’t care about anything else, only thinking about her own thrills…
“Wen Yang!”
His footsteps immediately halted, and he took a deep breath, shoving the anxious feelings deep down. When he looked up, he wore that gentle, sunny smile again, although his voice was still laced with urgency: “What happened? What’s going on?”
Ning Chu bounced out of the bathroom, practically sliding across the floor as she handed him the pregnancy test: “One line! We’re in the clear!”
“You scared me for nothing, Xinya!”
“Glad it’s all fine…”
She moved a bit closer and whispered, “But you better be careful from now on! I don’t want to go through that scare again!”
“I said it was fine, right?”
Upon hearing Yan Xinya’s voice, Ning Chu spun around and grabbed her big ears that were sticking out like satellite dishes: “How dare you say anything!”
“Ow! Ow!”
“Why’d you feel the need to scare me like that?!”
“It was kind of strange! I was just throwing out a hypothetical!”
Ning Chu’s smile froze as she glanced at Wen Yang: “Should we go to the hospital and check?”
“Yes! We absolutely must go!”
Pregnancy tests could be wrong, which sent her emotions into a tailspin again.
“Class has already started for a few minutes; shouldn’t we just head back to class? We can go to the hospital after school around four.”
“It’s fine, let Qian Qian skip calling out names.”
Ning Chu shot a glance at Wolf Girl, who was nodding her head vigorously while Yan Xinya exclaimed, “I’ll go let them know! You two just focus on everything else!”
“Why do I feel like you’re cursing me to d*ath…”
She mumbled under her breath, leading Wen Yang out of the teaching building.
Even though the school was located in the mountainous area on the outskirts, there was a grade-two hospital just an hour away by taxi.
It might not be as good as a grade-three hospital, but for checkups, it was more than sufficient.
When they arrived at the hospital, Ning Chu felt a wave of nervousness wash over her, gripping Wen Yang’s arm tightly and losing her focus, her eyes darting around suspiciously.
This place was a disaster zone for that “Little Emperor Wen” anime!
You lay back in the gynecological chair, pull the curtain, and who knows what could happen…
There were also physiotherapy and massage sessions, and that same old routine might pop up.
Thankfully, Wen Yang was with her, his protagonist aura providing protection. And this time, Ning Chu probably wouldn’t have to use the gynecological chair.
Since she was little, Ning Chu had always been accompanied by family when visiting hospitals, so she didn’t really know the flow of treatment. She just followed Wen Yang around, watching him hustle and bustle.
Once all the checks were done, and they sat in front of the doctor, Ning Chu knew the final verdict was about to be announced.
If she really was pregnant…
“Didn’t your family ever talk about this?” The doctor glanced from the test results to the “succubus” sitting across from him.
Her mind went blank at his first question.
Birth control? Her mother definitely went on about this repeatedly…
“You’re about to grow horns, which has caused your endocrine system to go haywire, resulting in a false pregnancy reaction.”
“!!!”
“Grow horns?!”
Ning Chu froze for a moment, instinctively touching her forehead. Suddenly, all her anxiety and panic disappeared like a puff of smoke.
What the heck—so I just have to grow horns?!
What the heck! I’m seriously going to grow horns!?
Ning Chu was unsure whether to be happy or sad at that moment.
Having a tail was one thing, but growing horns was a bit too much. It was too obvious and would clearly reveal her as a non-human, making it hard for her to accept.
Yet now, she found herself thinking, “Well, that’s not so bad, is it?”
At least it’s better than being pregnant…
With a complex expression, Ning Chu turned her head to look at the happy Wen Yang standing behind her. He was practically bursting with joy.
Steering wheel vibes, huh? Why are you so thrilled?!
She twitched her lips and asked the doctor, “So, what’s the deal with the horns?”
“That depends on your ancestors.”
Her mother didn’t have horns, so what about her grandmother…
Ning Chu pictured her grandmother’s spiraled ram horns, which looked a lot like coconut horns from her gaming past.
How did I, a perfectly normal human guy, somehow end up transforming into a succubus with horns and a heart-shaped tail, pleasing men beneath me?
