402. The Plot!
“Ning Chu! Why do you have dark circles under your eyes?!”
Yan Xinya burst into the classroom and immediately spotted the faint shadows beneath Ning Chu’s eyes. She came running over, tail swishing in alarm.
Ning Chu could barely muster any energy, glancing at Wolf Girl before going back to yawning and zoning out. “Didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Was Wen Yang not letting you sleep? That’s outrageous!”
“???”
“Just a few days ago, you were glowing! Now you look like a zombie.”
“Two drunks next door were noisy for more than half an hour.” She couldn’t help but sh**t a glare at Wolf Girl. “You’ve completely turned yellow because of Lily, haven’t you?”
Yan Xinya plopped down beside her, looking curious. “So, what happened? Did you call the cops?”
“No, they were surprisingly reasonable. Wen Yang went to knock on the door, and they settled it in under two minutes.”
There hadn’t even been any fighting or arguing; Wen Yang’s height—almost six foot three—was enough to keep everyone calm and listening to his reasoning.
If all else failed, Wen Yang could always resort to physics; he just didn’t want to stir up trouble.
Ning Chu turned to look at Wen Yang, who was engrossed in a book, a small smile creeping onto her lips. “Wen Yang really is reliable~ It just scared me a bit; he looks terrifying when he’s angry.”
“I’ve never seen Wen Yang angry!”
Yan Xinya muttered as she gazed at Wen Yang’s handsome, masculine face, struggling to picture what it’d be like when he was angry.
Besides, Wen Yang always had a good personality—he was basically an honest dude, just a little led astray by Zhang Shaoqing.
Wolf Girl wore a sugary sweet smile that looked like she’d just bitten into candy, her head bobbing with excitement, and her tail swirling like a fan. “That’s so nice! Sounds like pure friendship safety! So sweet~”
“……”
She turned her head to poke Ning Chu’s head, reaching out to pat it.
“Don’t touch that randomly!”
“I’m just checking if you’ve grown horns yet!”
“Not that quickly!” Ning Chu instinctively touched her own head, sighing gloomily. “Speaking of which, people with horns aren’t all that common…”
In the world of demi-humans, it was probably just the dragon, bull, sheep, deer, and succubus that had horns, right?
The first group didn’t need to hide their tails, and they usually had long and strong physiques, being athletic champions—she’d seen a few at last year’s sports meeting.
Whereas Ning Chu looked like a soft and alluring little girl, anyone with even a slight knowledge of demi-humans could probably guess her succubus status.
Things were about to get rough…
Ning Chu cast a sidelong glance at Zhang Shaoqing’s sour face.
Especially this two-faced joker! He was sure to tease her endlessly!
She didn’t mind teasing; she just worried that Zhang Shaoqing would overdo it and anger Wen Yang.
“Hey! Has Qian Qian not talked to you yet?”
Zhang Shaoqing was like a heartbroken poet, gazing dramatically out the window with a sigh. “Yeah, she suddenly stopped talking to me.”
But then he perked up again, “But I’ve rekindled that feeling of love at first sight! This time, I won’t let it slip!”
“Once you’ve got her, you won’t like her anymore?”
“Impossible! Do I look that cheap?”
Ning Chu looked at his two-faced grin and nodded in agreement. “Yup, that’s exactly how cheap you are.”
“d*mn! You’re the cheap one!”
This guy had zero self-awareness; his unique charm was probably born to be a jokester.
“Hey, what did you and Wen Yang do yesterday afternoon? I asked Wolf Girl, but she wouldn’t say.”
“Um…” Ning Chu thought for a moment and decided to be honest. “I was feeling a bit off, so I went for a check-up.”
“Are you pregnant?”
“Get out of here!”
Zhang Shaoqing looked intrigued. “So what’s wrong?”
“The doctor said I might grow horns in the future.”
“?!” Both he and Wang Jie spun around, eyes wide with shock, scrutinizing Ning Chu up and down, unable to see any signs of her being a demi-human.
Looking at her ears… they were hidden beneath her hair. No beast ears on top of her head. Looking at her tail… her long coat covered everything.
“So you’re still just a regular girl?”
“What? Is that a problem?”
“Can’t tell at all…”
If it weren’t for the fact that horns couldn’t be hidden, Ning Chu wouldn’t have felt the need to preemptively warn them about it now.
She propped her chin in one hand, gazing at the teacher at the front, a faint melancholy in her eyes.
Compared to her shock upon realizing she might grow horns yesterday, today, she found herself less resistant to the idea over time.
In fact, she was slightly looking forward to what kind of fun she and Wen Yang might have with a steering wheel…
Suddenly, she snapped to attention, covering her face in frustration.
Her brain had clearly taken on succubus-like attributes!
“I can’t believe it! I just pulled a gold card!”
“Lucky day! Let’s spend two thousand and see!”
The rich kid suddenly shouted, causing a stir among the classmates around, everyone turning to see what was happening, even Ning Chu curiously peeking over.
“No way! A lucky prince!”
“Would you really spend two thousand without a second thought?”
“Quiet! Quiet!”
The teacher up front was furious, banging the desk. He’d never seen such audacious students chatting and playing on phones during class!
Wen Yang remained the good student, undistracted by his surroundings, diligently taking notes.
Until the class was over, he only chatted a little with Ning Chu, spending the rest of the time seriously engaged. Coming from a modest background, he firmly believed knowledge could change his life.
He had absolutely nothing in common with the rich protagonist from books who lived off a wealthy girlfriend!
Once most students had left the classroom, Ning Chu stretched her arms lazily, saying, “What are we eating for lunch?”
“Up to you; I’m fine with anything.”
Wen Yang started to gather the notes and textbooks from their desks. “Don’t forget, we have to memorize dozens of English words this week.”
“No worries, Qian Qian’s our English teacher; she won’t call on me.”
He urged her earnestly, “I remember you saying that college should focus on academics.”
“Did I say that?”
Ning Chu furrowed her brows, trying hard to recall but coming up blank.
It was probably something she’d mumbled to stop Wen Yang from dating before.
“I’m not slacking off either! I listen during class.” She grabbed her bag and followed Wen Yang out of the classroom, saying, “After lunch, where to? The library? I’m going to type on my phone there.”
“Sounds good.”
Just then, as they turned the corner in the corridor, just before heading down the stairs, they encountered a ghost coming up.
“Wen Yang? Just in time, I need to talk to you.” Instructor An An flashed a bright smile, looking at the suddenly alert couple. “Don’t worry, we can talk right here.”
“What’s up?”
“Who’s your dorm leader? There’s a meeting at noon, and the dorm leader needs to attend. Please help me notify everyone in the group.”
Wen Yang looked down at Little Succubus beside him.
But Ning Chu had already been assigned to Yan Xinya’s dorm, so the dorm leader position was vacant.
“Dorm leader… that’s me?”
“Yep, it’s at 1:30 PM in Room 201. Don’t forget to notify everyone and take attendance before the meeting.”
“Didn’t I say I wasn’t doing the class leader thing anymore… why am I still doing class leader duties?”
Wen Yang grumbled, but then he remembered something and exchanged a wide-eyed glance with Ning Chu. Their expressions changed simultaneously.
