407. It’s Growing!
“I swear! Ning Chu must be a succubus, right?!”
“How could she have lived in the boys’ dorm for months then?”
“Is she really that easy-going? No wonder she’s a succubus!”
“Bus?”
“Hey! How much is it?”
“I heard she’s actually a ladyboy.”
“How could Wen Yang possibly fall for someone like that?”
The sharp whispers bounced around her, piercing like daggers into her chest. Ning Chu’s breath quickened, her heart racing faster and faster. Just when she felt she couldn’t take it anymore, her mind suddenly snapped back to reality, and her eyes flew open.
Gasping for breath, she stared blankly at the dark ceiling, feeling her heart want to leap out of her chest, her expression a mix of terror and confusion.
She had a strange dream…
Ning Chu’s breathing gradually steadied, but her mood remained tumultuous, with a hint of bitterness at the tip of her nose.
Since crossing over to this world, she had heard countless rumors about herself, but she never bothered with them, only focused on disrupting the plot to avoid being exposed, completely ignoring the gossip.
But now, it seemed that turning into a girl was one thing, but breaking down over a dream was something else entirely.
Back when she first dreamed about boys being around her, it didn’t hurt this much.
“What’s wrong?”
Ning Chu then noticed that Wen Yang was awake, quietly watching her.
“I had a nightmare.”
“I could tell. Your breathing was rapid—I thought I would faint!”
Wen Yang knew that when she got emotional, she was prone to fainting and had seen it happen once; that’s why he paid extra attention whenever her breathing was a bit off.
“What was the dream about?”
“Uh…” Ning Chu paused, scratching her head, “I forgot.”
As her mind cleared, she realized all the painful words from the dream had vanished, leaving just a few vague snippets.
Suddenly her fingers brushed against something unusual. She paused, digging her nails in, “I just washed my hair last night…”
After several unsuccessful attempts to pry it loose and feeling a strange sensation, Ning Chu realized it might not just be dandruff.
“Turn on the light and help me take a look!”
In an instant, she forgot her nightmare and quickly sat up.
Wen Yang switched on the room light and looked at Ning Chu, who was now tilting her head down towards him. He moved closer, carefully sifting through her long hair.
As he pushed aside her hair layer by layer, he spotted something the size of a fingernail embedded in her scalp.
“What’s up? Stubborn dandruff, huh?”
“Can’t see clearly.”
Wen Yang gently pressed on the small bulge, rubbing it with his fingertip, and suddenly, the little succubus’s body stiffened, then slackened, toppling over onto his chest.
“……”
He looked down at her flushed face, realizing, “You have a little horn now, but it’s just a tiny bit.”
Her reaction was almost exactly like being caught by the tail out of nowhere.
“Don’t touch it!”
Her defiant voice sounded more like a coy tease, soft and accompanied by a light breath.
Ning Chu finally managed to sit up again, panting a bit, and shot Wen Yang an annoyed glance.
God knows why, but when she touched it herself, it didn’t feel too weird, yet with anyone else, she became overly sensitive instantly.
The newly sprouted horn felt like that, as did the tail, and other sensitive spots were the same.
“Can you take a picture for me to see?”
“Can’t. It’s hidden in your hair.”
“Fine… what color is it? Is it obvious?”
“It’s black. When your hair covers it, you can hardly see it.”
Ning Chu sighed deeply, lightly tapping the top of her head as she lay back down on her bed.
At the normal growth rate, it would take at least a few months for those horns to fully develop, but she—well, she wasn’t exactly normal.
By the time the sister flower plot ends, her horns would probably sprout overnight.
Her hands unconsciously went to poke the newly formed horns, making her feel like she had two pimples growing there. Though they didn’t hurt or itch, her hands just couldn’t resist.
The texture wasn’t as hard as she imagined; it was surprisingly smooth…
“Is it seven already? Should I go get you breakfast?”
“Sure~”
Having gone to bed early and snagging a late-night snack, Ning Chu felt energized.
But she still curled back under the covers, lured by the warmth of her bed, lazily refusing to get up. “Can you get me fried buns and a bowl of noodle soup with sausages~?”
“Send me some money; it’ll be about twenty.”
“Twenty?! Is it that expensive?! Are you trying to pocket the change?!”
“Don’t I need to eat too?”
As she watched Wen Yang leave, Ning Chu flipped over, continuing to poke at the tiny horns sticking up from her head.
Was she going to have to give up sleeping on her side now?!
Not necessarily; if the shape was right, maybe she could just rest her head on the horns?
How weird…
Wen Yang was really fond of steering wheels, and once those horns were fully grown, who knows how much his attack speed and damage would go up! Meanwhile, with her holding onto the steering wheel and her tail, she would probably have even less strength to resist him.
Ning Chu sighed in worry.
She just hoped she wouldn’t faint… because then she wouldn’t even get to enjoy the situation.
As for whether the horns could poke someone or ruin the pillows, that was unlikely; horns usually weren’t sharp.
Last night, her grandmother’s call cleared up many questions, but sadly, Grandma was also a succubus, so her thoughts weren’t exactly wholesome. Just hearing a bit of Ning Chu’s breaths, she immediately jumped to the wrong conclusions.
No amount of explanation helped; Grandma just responded with a knowing “Oh,” in that tone women understand.
The image of her obedient, understanding granddaughter? Gone!
Perhaps her mom shared about her New Year’s Eve escapade—staying out all night—with Grandma. In Grandma’s eyes, Ning Chu might have turned into a succubus who only knew how to “ghs.”
Mom sure knows how to ruin things!
Getting horns had Ning Chu’s thoughts tangled up, spiraling into all sorts of weird ideas.
One moment she pictured herself gripping the steering wheel, the next she imagined what her mom would look like with horns. A moment later, her mind drifted again, pondering that if she ever dyed her hair, probably the horns would change color too.
Getting a haircut would definitely be inconvenient, right?
Just then, Wen Yang entered with breakfast and glanced at Ning Chu, who seemed lost in thought on the bed.
“What are you thinking about? Get up and eat.”
“Nothing.” Finally snapping back to reality, Ning Chu sat up and bundled herself in the blanket like a dumpling on the couch.
“Wen Yang, if my classmates find out I’m a succubus, and that I used to live in the boys’ dorm…”
Holding her bowl of noodle soup, she asked anxiously, “They won’t spread rumors, right?”
“Well… why are you worrying about that?”
“Don’t worry about those nonsense! If someone talks smack, I’ll handle it and clear your name.”
Wen Yang lifted his gaze and saw her still looking anxious. He joked to lighten her mood, “If anyone dares slander you, I’ll hunt them down and beat them to a pulp! How’s that?”
“And what if you can’t beat them?”
“Then you sneak up and knock them out.”
Ning Chu rolled her eyes at Wen Yang, but a hint of a smile surfaced in her eyes. “Then we’d both be giving our heads as offerings?”
