“Hey! Did you just finish eating?”
As they walked out of the cafeteria, they were greeted by a goofy guy with a silly grin, approaching them with an exaggerated cheerfulness.
Ning Chu simply turned her head away, ignoring him. She was in a hurry to get back to her rental apartment to order takeout; she couldn’t bear to have another dinner after that dreadful meal.

Yan Xinya and Lily politely nodded to the goofy guy and, arm in arm, headed towards the girls’ dormitory. “Ning Chu! We’re leaving first!”

Wen Yang glanced at the two girls walking away and curiously asked Zhang Shaoqing, “So, what are you up to tonight?”
Knowing Zhang Shaoqing, that guy would usually be holed up in the dorm playing games at night. If he went out, he’d typically drag Wang Jie along; they’d either end up at karaoke or a bar. Wen Yang was worried Wang Jie, the innocent one, might lead him astray.
“I’m going to have dinner with my Qian Qian!”
“But didn’t you say you weren’t interested in her anymore? Why are you dating her every day now?”
“Well…” Zhang Shaoqing scratched his head awkwardly and, after a moment of hesitation, replied, “She seems to not like me anymore; she hasn’t talked to me for days.”
“???”
Wen Yang was momentarily flabbergasted.
“And I guess I’ve rediscovered my feelings for her all over again?” Zhang Shaoqing added sheepishly.
Ning Chu snorted, “Aren’t you being a bit shameless?”
Zhang Shaoqing shot her a glance but then excitedly wrapped an arm around Wen Yang’s shoulder, sporting a lecherous grin, and lowered his voice a little, “I swear! Qian Qian suddenly knows just how to get to my weak spot!”
“Deliberately ignoring me! Every time we go out, she acts all sad and reluctant to be there…”
Wen Yang interjected, “Are you sure she doesn’t actually not want to date you?”
“That makes it even better!”
“What? That sounds like a crime!”
Zhang Shaoqing froze, shaking his head. “Not at all! She just pretends not to want to, but she’s actually super happy when we go out!”
“Plus, just think about it… looking all unwilling on the outside, but inside, there’s a little bit of eagerness to do weird stuff when I ask! Imagine that expression~ it’s both shameful and cute, and she has to go through with it~”
Wen Yang’s mind instantly flashed back to the previous day when Ning Chu was sitting on his lap, blushing all over, yet her body was so reserved and honest.

“What are you two talking about? I want in on the gossip!”
Ning Chu peeked over, trying to snoop.
“Why would you want to hear about men’s topics?” Zhang Shaoqing said with a disgusted face. “Scram, scram, scram! I’m going out to eat with Qian Qian! It’s too bad you two just finished eating; otherwise, you could join us.”
“I’m still hungry! You should treat me!”
“Are you a pig?”
“I hardly ate anything! I gave it all to Wen Yang!”
Ning Chu and Zhang Shaoqing continued their playful bickering while Wen Yang stood back, watching, occasionally chiming in to stir the pot.
The trio ventured toward the school entrance, their playful banter echoing behind them.
On the way, Zhang Shaoqing suddenly remembered the horns on Ning Chu’s head and curiously glanced at the protrusion on her hat. “Are you a little bit sick? Is that horns you’re trying to hide with that hat?”
Ning Chu nonchalantly took off her hat, revealing the little horns curving backward. “I’m too lazy to take them off.”
“Those horns aren’t real, right?”

Although Ning Chu had given Zhang Shaoqing a heads-up about her little secret, she was still reluctant to reveal that she was actually a succubus.
After all, who knows how that goofy guy would react? He might just blab about it all over school, or worse, try to poke her horns! Better to hide it as long as possible.
“None of your business,” Ning Chu said, taking a step away to dodge his teasing hand. “Wen Yang gave these to me, so I can wear them if I want!”

Ning Chu couldn’t care less about Zhang Shaoqing. She stepped close and whispered, “You’re not really being blackmailed, are you? If you are, blink twice.”
