427. Magical Girl!
“Morning~ Ning Chu!”
No matter the time or place, Yan Xinya always looked like a ball of energy, bouncing around like an eternally spirited Husky.
She charged over, her rosy cheeks squishing against Ning Chu, her tail wagging so fast it could leave a blur behind.
Ning Chu, wearing a face that screamed “I give up,” pressed down on that eager, squishy little face and sighed in defeat, “Stop it, I’m in a bad mood.”
“What’s wrong?!”
She kicked at the air a couple of times. “My shoes got wet, it feels awful…”
Having just come out of winter, her frostbite was still healing, and now with soggy shoes, her feet felt icy cold, dragging her mood down even further.
“Wen Yang! What’s wrong with you?!”
Wen Yang patted the rain off his shoulders. Hearing Yan Xinya’s accusation, he could only manage a bitter smile, “She sees water and can’t resist splashing in it. How can her shoes not get wet?”
“So childish~”
“……”
Boys remain boys until the end, right? What’s wrong with being a bit childish!?
Even if he turned into a Succubus, the soul of a teenager still lurking inside him was perfectly fine!
Ning Chu didn’t bother explaining and slumped down at her desk.
The damp chill of the returning southern weather felt worse than the dry cold of winter. Even though temperatures were above ten degrees, it still felt terrible.
She regretted wearing that cute knitted dress today; she should have stuck with her thick down jacket.
Wen Yang casually hung his umbrella on the hook by the desk and sat down next to Ning Chu, whispering, “Can you check what that girl across the hall’s plot is about?”
“Why the hurry? Are you excited?”
“Not really…”
Ning Chu shot him a glance and pulled out her phone to open an encrypted document.
The features of the newly moved-in girl were pretty obvious—poor, red hair… So it didn’t take long for Little Succubus to turn pale, rising panic on her face as she looked up at Wen Yang.
“What’s wrong?”
“The situation doesn’t look good…”
Ning Chu swallowed hard, her cheeks flushing slightly in embarrassment. Then she remembered something, turning to remind Lily and Yan Xinya, who were sitting nearby: “From now on, don’t go out at night! Get back to the dorm right after class, don’t even go to the cafeteria!”
“Huh?”
The seriousness in her tone made both Yan Xinya and Lily stop in their tracks.
“What’s up?”
“I heard there’s a pervert in school; it might be dangerous at night!”
Lily stayed her usual aloof self, but Yan Xinya’s tail and ears were a mess, nervously looking around left and right. “Is that for real?!”
The Wolf Girl had high combat skills but was a total scaredy-cat.
“Absolutely! And they’re a violent murderer!”
“No way! Haven’t the cops caught them yet?”
She panicked further and clung to delicate little Lily, shivering like a small puppy.
“It takes time; it’s not that quick…”
Seeing that her scare tactics were working, Ning Chu finally relaxed and turned to the very curious Wen Yang.
“What’s going on?”
She bit her lip and leaned over to whisper in Wen Yang’s ear, “I found out, there’s just one girl with red hair in the book.”
“Now that you mention it, I think I remember…”
“She’s a Magical Girl!”
Wen Yang froze, immediately picturing the headless senior, but quickly realized this Magical Girl was from Little Emperor Wen.
So, along with the Magical Girl, there was… a Tentacle Monster!
Could such fantastical creatures genuinely exist in this world?
“Why did you even think to write something like this?!”
Ning Chu’s face turned beet red at a visibly alarming pace. She looked down in embarrassment, mumbling, “At that time, maybe my threshold was too high… I always liked heavier themes.”
“After reading a lot, I just wanted to write…”
She nervously patted Wen Yang on the back. “It’s fine, this is just an extra chapter; you’re not in it.”
This was bad!
How was this plot going to end by substituting in side characters?!
Not to mention the green-eyed girl problem with Wen Yang… I mean! Even a Magical Girl can’t handle a Tentacle Monster! Let alone her, Little Succubus!
The more Ning Chu thought about it, the more anxious she became. Even worse, this extra chapter had no ending!
At the time, her heavy taste in content lasted just a few days. After joyfully writing a few segments, she suddenly found training slightly thrilling and abruptly dropped the Tentacle arc to excitedly scribble a development diary instead.
So, she had no idea if, after those few extra segments, the Tentacle Monster would continue prowling the school, tormenting girls or get obliterated by the Magical Girl.
Honestly, it was pretty normal for short stories from Little Emperor Wen not to have endings—just another encounter for the male protagonist with yet another girl.
But God knows what entertaining mischief that unfinished extra might lead to!
“Oh no, oh no…” Ning Chu buried her face in her hands, mumbling, “What the hell was I thinking writing this—”
“You’ve complained about it so many times.”
“Why are you so calm?”
Wen Yang sighed. “What can I do… It’s better to think of a plan calmly than to panic.”
“Ning Chu~ You weren’t just trying to scare me, right?”
Yan Xinya asked anxiously from the side. Watching Ning Chu and Wen Yang whispering together, the increasingly troubled looks on their faces made her even more anxious.
“Just don’t go out at night.”
Ning Chu could only remind her friend by her side.
She hugged her phone, hesitating over whether to warn everyone in the class group message.
Even though the Tentacle Monster in the book didn’t eat people, if she could handle it, she could deal with the Tentacle stuff…
But it was only the first period of the morning; best to figure out the situation first.
What if the Tentacle Monster hadn’t appeared yet?
Ning Chu quickly logged onto the school forum and took a quick look, feeling slightly relieved.
Thankfully, she didn’t see any posts from victims or any rumors about ghostly happenings after dark, just tons of trivial chatter, even discussing who would win “Beauty Queen of the School.”
She clicked to take a peek, and her daily selfies were prominently featured in the beauty contest.
Then she looked at the other contender’s photos; those gorgeous girls seemed like characters from a Little Emperor Wen story, definitely worth jotting down in her notebook.
The morning dragged on with her worries…
Her shoes were still icy and wet as she followed Wen Yang out of the classroom, her face clouded with gloom.
As soon as she realized this university was the main stage for Little Emperor Wen, she had been fretting over the Tentacle Monster, and yet there was no escaping it—she was bound to run into it now.
Wen Yang glanced at Ning Chu, clearly wanting to say something but holding back.
“What’s up?”
“Why do you have an umbrella too?”
“……”
Ning Chu finally noticed Wen Yang was also holding a folding umbrella. Looking at her own, the two identical umbrellas made her wonder whose unfortunate umbrella she had taken.
“It’s fine, I’ll ask about it later; the rain isn’t too heavy anyway.”
She mumbled, but then suddenly stopped in her tracks, her sharp instincts kicking in as she turned to see a flash of bright red at the end of the corridor.
Could that be the Magical Girl? The red hair was way too noticeable.
Ning Chu tilted her head in suspicion.
If she isn’t looking for the Tentacle Monster, what on earth is she doing coming towards me?!
