Trapped in Paradise – Chapter 409

428. The Studious Lily

There wasn’t a hint of anything unusual…

If a tentacle monster showed up at school, it would definitely cause a commotion. Remember back when An An, our school’s top ghost, was flirting with little boys in the teaching building at night? The forums were buzzing with ghost sightings, and the school even tried to get experts to exorcise the spirits.

In the end, the ghost that caused all the ruckus ended up becoming the instructor. They exorcised nothing but loneliness, but at least the students had some reaction.

This time, however, everything was eerily calm.

“According to the book’s vague premise, tentacle monsters are evil demons from another world who lean over normal humans,” Ning Chu explained while poking at the meatballs in her bowl, trying to enlighten Wen Yang, who was sitting beside her.

“And the magical girl… her name is Qian Qian, she has red hair, A-cup twin tails, and a super sexy battle outfit. That’s it.”

“Wow, what a lazy name you gave her,” Wen Yang retorted.

“At least I didn’t call you Yang Yang or Wen Wen!” She shot him a glare before adding, puzzled, “Earlier during class, I felt like someone was staring at me. It was probably her.”

Wen Yang sipped his soup, eyebrow raised, “What was she staring at you for?”

“Maybe she was actually looking for you? After all, you’re the male protagonist.”

He shrugged. “Aren’t we supposed to accept that this plot doesn’t include me? It could be that you borrowed her umbrella!”

Ning Chu paused, glancing at the folded umbrella on the table, and then quickly shook her head. “No way! She’s not even from our class; that umbrella probably belongs to Shao Qing or Wang Jie.”

“True, so what’s her deal?”

“No idea… it’s giving me a headache~”

Ning Chu sorrowfully pushed her spicy hot pot towards Wen Yang. “I can’t eat anymore.”

“You’ve only had a couple of bites.”

“It’s so annoying, my appetite’s gone.”

Wen Yang pushed the hot pot back to her, reassuringly saying, “The world is big, but eating is the biggest priority. If anything happens, I’ll handle it. What’s the point of being this tall otherwise? Stop worrying.”

“It’s… too spicy! I just wanted mild! And this is on fire!”

“……”

Confused and not knowing what to do, they just had to wait it out.

Maybe she could actively communicate with Qian Qian later?

Ning Chu pondered that after she got back tonight, she’d visit that magical girl living next door.

But from what she gathered, that girl didn’t seem very friendly; otherwise, she wouldn’t be trying to stalk her.

How bizarre! A magical girl chasing after her, a harmless little succubus, instead of fighting tentacle monsters!

“Shall we hit the library after dinner? Or go back to change socks?”

“Let’s go to the library… My socks are probably completely drenched; changing them would be pointless.”

Ning Chu muttered in dismay when suddenly she felt a gaze on her back. She whipped around to find a small black cat observing her with wide innocent eyes.

Look at that tuft of white fur on its forehead; that’s Qian Qian’s cat.

“Not keeping the cat at home? What if it gets lost?”

She mumbled, “Should we catch it and return it? That might earn us some goodwill with the magical girl.”

What if she encountered a tentacle monster? Qian Qian could save her!

“Doesn’t look like it’s run away. Finished? Want anything else?”

“How about milk tea…”

Having spent so much time with Lily and Yan Xinya, Ning Chu had gradually developed a taste for milk tea.

She used to like cola, but who knows which is healthier… Since they were already drinking milk tea, pondering health facts seemed pointless.

Holding onto her hot tea, her hands warmed significantly as she and Wen Yang made their way to the library in the teaching building.

Just one glance, and she spotted Lily’s figure inside the library.

This little succubus was always diligent, making her rounds at the library every now and then, although most of the time she was just wandering through the dense bookshelves.

“Lily~” Ning Chu jogged over, peeking at the book Lily was holding. “What are you reading?”

“Literature.”

Lily casually closed the book, inconspicuously covering the book’s cover with her sleeve.

“Literature?”

But Ning Chu still caught a glimpse and felt that the wording in that book was suspiciously similar to her own Little Emperor Wen…

“Let me see?”

“Boring stuff.”

“Oh, come on, just curious~”

Lily looked up at Ning Chu’s wide curious eyes, and for once, her cold expression had a hint of color. She quickly glanced around before checking to see if Wen Yang was near the shelves.

“Hm?”

She pulled Ning Chu down to sit, shifting her chair close enough that they were practically glued together, this mysterious setup making Ning Chu even more curious.

“What is it?”

Lily finally opened the book, covering the front like she was hiding a treasure and whispering excitedly, “Little Emperor Uncle!”

“???”

A hint of blush colored Lily’s cheeks as she rambled excitedly when it came to her area of expertise. “I discovered this last semester, the library has tons of Little Emperor Uncles hidden inside!”

“I specially searched for them and found many; this is the eighth one!”

No wonder she was often seen wandering around the shelves! Turns out she was looking for Little Emperor Uncle all along!

Here I thought she was such a diligent student!

Ning Chu was stunned at the bold wording in the book, a wave of mixed emotions surging through her.

Shame, curiosity, excitement…

Reading about Little Emperor Uncles in a serene library setting with another succubus was quite the thrill!

No wonder many doujinshi scenes are set in libraries.

Ning Chu leaned in close with her head almost touching Lily’s. “Is it good?”

“Super good!”

“Wow~”

Meanwhile, Wen Yang sat across from them with a book, glancing at the two girls whose heads were nearly touching, occasionally raising his eyebrows with astonishment at their hushed whispers.

“What are you guys reading?”

Ning Chu shot up suddenly, eyeing him suspiciously before giving a half-hearted response.

“Literature.”

“You can even understand that?”

“Of course, I can!”

Ning Chu declared with gusto.

For a succubus, isn’t Little Emperor Uncle considered literature?!

Wen Yang scratched his head in confusion, but seeing Ning Chu and Lily intensely focused on the book and whispering among themselves, he felt a sense of satisfaction in his heart.

It turns out that having a studious friend could boost enthusiasm for learning. Usually, no matter how hard he encouraged Ning Chu to study seriously, all he got in return was annoyance.

“Then read more.”

“I know!”

Ning Chu absently replied before reminding Lily, “Next time, don’t come to the library at night. I’ll come with you during lunch.”

“Are you talking about that pervert you tricked Yan Xinya with?”

“I didn’t trick her! There really is a pervert! Don’t dismiss it!”

She tried to spill some tea with Lily, but thought better of it; that girl seemed really into the Cthulhu tentacle genre, with all sorts of tentacle-shaped toys at home…

Would Lily go wild with excitement upon hearing that?
