“We’re heading out first~”
“Wait until I catch a glimpse of the little sister-in-law and sneak a photo to send in the group! I wanna see what this woman looks like who squeezes Wang Jie dry every time!”
Er Pi’s joking words were merciless as he teased Wang Jie, who was a decent guy, just sitting there in the passenger seat and yawning like he’s had it with life.
Ning Chu waved goodbye to her two roommates, then muttered some gossip about Zhang Shaoqing behind their backs: “I don’t know who it is that gets their legs weakened by Qian Qian, but they still have the nerve to talk about Wang Jie.”
But compared to the pale Wang Jie, Zhang Shaoqing at least looked relatively healthy, not completely drained.
She looked up at Wen Yang beside her, her curiosity piqued, “Why does Shaoqing call you ‘big brother’? And what’s this about you being big…”
Wen Yang helplessly rubbed his nose bridge, “Last night I went to the bathroom, and those two insisted on coming in to check it out.”
“Huh…?”
That must’ve been a shocker!
Ning Chu, who had previously taken a peek at Wen Yang out of curiosity about “what the male lead really looks like,” had been scared stiff by his fierce dragon.
Back then, she could never have imagined that this would be her future joy, and oh boy, she could definitely handle it!
Oh, the unpredictability of life~
The hotel wasn’t far from the nearby Walking Street, and the two of them were too lazy to pay for a taxi, so they strolled hand in hand, leisurely walking down the street in the afternoon sun.
After the recent gloomy rainy days, the weather had turned bright and clear. The afternoon sun wasn’t too hot, but it made the world feel comfortably warm. With a gentle spring breeze, Ning Chu felt particularly cozy.
She was still thinking about last night, a hint of blush on her cheeks. “Was I really that loud last night?”
“It shouldn’t be the case; I usually keep it down…”
She had that anxious expression, afraid her precious image in front of her roommates had been completely ruined.
Though Zhang Shaoqing had witnessed it once, that time Er Pi only figured out she was fighting with Wen Yang without hearing anything, which was not the same thing.
Last night, having been drunk, she couldn’t really remember how wild she’d gotten.
Wen Yang held back laughter as he ruffled Ning Chu’s little head: “You can relax; they didn’t hear anything.”
“Really?”
“I was just kidding.”
“Well, that’s a relief~” Ning Chu finally breathed a long sigh of relief, complaining, “Even if they found out I was a succubus, I wouldn’t want them to think I’m like other succubi…”
“You mean like Lily?”
“Definitely not! Lily is the shame of succubi! She’s worse than me!”
Clearly, Ning Chu was talking about those succubi who always got caught in raids, participating in every silver crème competition.
If they started thinking she was that kind of succubus, her life would be filled with men trying to woo her or challenge her to a duel!
Just thinking about it was terrifying.
Wen Yang glanced down at the little succubus whose hand he was holding: “You two seem pretty similar; big brother doesn’t laugh, but little brother does.”
“How are we similar! At least I have a boyfriend, okay?!”
At this point, Ning Chu was inexplicably competing with Lily to see who was the more “succubus-like.”
“Sure, sure, sure.”
Seeing Wen Yang’s dull response, she viciously shoved her icy hand into his side, but the weather had already warmed up, and that slight chill didn’t faze him at all.
“Cold, cold, nice and refreshing.” Wen Yang teased, “In broad daylight, don’t be so forward.”
His expression quickly changed as his brows knitted together, he inhaled sharply, “Don’t pinch me, that hurts!”
“Got it, smart, huh~”
Ning Chu triumphantly pulled her hand out from his clothes and flaunted her nails: “I even left a bit of length, I wanted to borrow Lily’s nail polish~”
“Yeah, I know, you’re the best.”
Wen Yang, with a headache, advised, “Maybe you should just skip the nails? I’ve been wondering why my shoulders are so bruised lately.”
Women’s nails can be deadly! And the worst part is, even if it hurts for now, who knows? If they fight one day and she scratches his face, his goofy friend would be all over him with mockery the next day.
Lucky for him, he had just such a friend.
“Nails look pretty~”
“Remember? You didn’t even want to cross-dress back then.”
“Times have changed~”
Ning Chu was in a great mood, her voice lilted as she walked on tiptoe, her steps light and bouncy as if she were an elf stepping out of a forest.
Swinging Wen Yang’s hand freely, she paid no mind to the onlookers.
Even though she had been a woman for a while, when it came to shopping, she still preferred picking a target and heading straight for it.
This time, the target was the cinema… but as she walked hand in hand with Wen Yang, she suddenly found just casually strolling around, checking out street foods and clothes, and teasing passing cats and dogs seemed equally fun.
“Look, there’s a nail salon! I’ve never been to one before.”
Ning Chu suddenly stopped in front of a small shop, hesitating.
“Weren’t you just saying you wanted to get your nails done?”
“……”
She hesitated, looking up at Wen Yang, then down at her slender fingers.
Wen Yang stopped talking, directly pulling her hand and leading her into the nail salon.
“What’s there to be shy about?”
“Nothing, I’m just worried it’ll be too expensive…”
“You’re already a girl now; you’ve been to lingerie shops.”
She muttered under her breath, “If I went alone, I wouldn’t dare step inside.”
Perhaps it was the lingering modesty from her time as a man, but to this day, she still felt a bit shy and curious about shops dedicated to women, even hair salons; she wasn’t keen on walking into one explicitly labeled for ladies.
When out, she wouldn’t even want to go to a public bathroom.
Reluctantly, she was dragged into the store by Wen Yang, and the two enthusiastic salesgirls immediately approached them.
Ning Chu completely tuned out their chatter, scanning the walls for a price list as her eyes darted around.
Though she had never been to a place like this, she’d heard that nail salons charged based on whatever they felt like.
Fortunately, this shop had a price list displayed on the wall, so at least she wouldn’t get ripped off too badly.
“Get her a manicure.”
Wen Yang dragged Ning Chu, who was trying to hide behind him, out into the open.
“I don’t know what style to choose…”
The salesgirl immediately handed her a booklet filled with nail art designs.
Ning Chu flipped through the pages, confused, occasionally using her fingers to point at options, her face a mix of bewilderment, her legs unconsciously pressed together.
“This one?” She pointed at a flashy picture.
“That one needs nail tips!”
She was even more confused now, entirely lost: “Nail what?”
She really should have called Lily for advice on her first manicure; that girl loved beauty, putting on nail polish even for classes.
She had to pass the decision on to Wen Yang, gazing up at the big guy who looked just as lost: “Which one do you think looks good?”
“Uh, they all seem fine?”
“Then, let’s just try the cheapest one!”
