### Chapter 469: An Apology Should Be Sincere
“He’s broke as a joke, with only a few hundred for living expenses. He has to work part-time on weekends and set up shop at night. Who does he think he is, acting like a big shot!”
“Over two thousand bucks! Just like that, he loans it out!”
“Even if Wang Jie can pay it back, that’s going to be a month from now. What if something comes up, and he runs out of cash?”
“He doesn’t have parents backing him up; he’ll just have to starve!”
Inside the girls’ dormitory, Ning Chu was venting her frustrations about Wen Yang’s money-lending antics, flattening her hands on the small table. Opposite her, Lily was carefully trimming her nails.
Yan Xinya sat nearby, hand on her chin, grinning as she asked, “Are you worried about his hard-earned money?”
“Worried my foot! It’s his money; he can waste it however he wants.”
“Then why are you complaining so much?”
“I’m worried he’ll run out of money and drag me down with him!”
The Wolf Girl sighed dramatically, “You really are tough! Is your mouth this tough when Wen Yang kisses you?”
A pink hue crept up Ning Chu’s cheeks. She kicked Yan Xinya’s leg playfully, “I’m furious, and you’re teasing me!”
“Then just take all his money and don’t let him spend it frivolously, like before.”
Without hesitation, Ning Chu shook her head adamantly, “What do I need his money for? I was just worried he wouldn’t have enough to get by and thought it’d be easier to fool him.”
“But you still get mad when he wastes money.”
“Who knew he’d be so generous… He’s clearly broke!”
Ning Chu sighed dramatically, feeling all out of sorts. It wasn’t that she had no interest in Wen Yang’s money, but when she was a guy, she had no intention of having a girlfriend or wife who controlled the finances. Not being able to spend her own earned money? How pitiful! It would be better off without a girlfriend.
Now that she was a girl herself, she didn’t want to become the kind of woman she used to despise.
“Alright.” Lily looked up, releasing Ning Chu’s delicate hand.
“It’s better than those nail salons!” Yan Xinya puffed out her chest proudly. “Lily is the best!”
“That’s not even a compliment for you; what are you so proud of?”
Ning Chu rolled her eyes at the Wolf Girl, her gaze landing on Lily’s cup on the desk.
Today, the cup was surprisingly free of clutter; the octopus still looked sluggish and somewhat smaller, but the water was a peculiar color.
Noticing Ning Chu’s gaze, Lily explained, “I soaked it in yellow wine.”
Ning Chu’s mouth twitched, “Why don’t you just put it out of its misery?”
At this point, she was convinced that Lily was only using the octopus for research and not turning it into a little toy, or else it wouldn’t be subjected to such torture!
“No way.” Lily shook her head, leaning in close to whisper, “The magic will disappear.”
“Oh~”
So, Lily couldn’t bear to part with the magic suit—and the magic itself! The ability of a Magical Girl came from the tentacle monster; if the monster died, then Lily wouldn’t be able to use her magic anymore.
Ning Chu understood; she wouldn’t want to lose it either—
“This octopus is super tough! It hardly eats anything, and no matter what we do to it, it won’t d*e!” Yan Xinya exclaimed, picking up the cup with astonishment. “Nature is truly amazing; what a resilient little life!”
“Too bad Lily won’t let me cut off a leg to taste it.”
The Wolf Girl mumbled but suddenly switched topics, asking, “Why did Wang Jie need to borrow money?”
“This…”
Was this even something to discuss?
Getting a girlfriend pregnant before even hitting a marriageable age, and with their parents not even having met yet? That wasn’t exactly the most glamorous situation to be in.
Ning Chu wore a hesitant expression, paused for a moment, and decided not to spill Wang Jie’s little secret: “He just needs some cash. Ran into a bit of trouble.”
“Oh~” The Wolf Girl’s eyes gleamed with curiosity, but she didn’t pry further, stretching and rising, “Time for class~”
They hadn’t been in the girls’ dorm for long, but after staying in the boys’ dorm for a while, those two hours of lunch break flew by.
Ning Chu examined her nails, satisfied as she fell into step with Yan Xinya.
“Where are your textbooks for the afternoon?”
“They’re with Wen Yang.”
“Aren’t you in Qian Qian’s English class this afternoon? Time for another long nap~”
The three girls strolled out of the dormitory, the hallway bustling with vibrant and lively girls, full of youthful energy.
As Ning Chu stepped out the door, she immediately spotted Wen Yang waiting in the shade across the way. Only now, he was surrounded by a gaggle of enthusiastic girls, adopting a cold, aloof expression as he dealt with the situation, completely ignoring the girls who were trying to get his contact info.
Upon seeing Ning Chu, he quickly shoved through his throng of admirers, his icy facade melting into a warm smile, bounding over like an enthusiastic golden retriever.
“Come on, let’s go to class.”
“Hmph~” Ning Chu folded her arms, looking annoyed, turning her head away.
Even though she knew it wasn’t right to sulk, she couldn’t help but feel the flicker of resentment rising within her upon seeing Wen Yang surrounded by girls!
How many times had she said it? The ones who approach him are all bad women just after his body! They should be chased away and cursed out!
“I was wrong. It won’t happen again.”
Wen Yang was right behind Ning Chu, wearing an earnest expression of regret.
“How about you hit me twice?”
“I’ll make you something delicious for dinner, okay?”
With just a few quick apologies, Ning Chu’s resentment began to evaporate.
But she pursed her lips and gave Wen Yang’s arm a couple of light punches. Seeing him remain unfazed, she couldn’t hold back her complaint: “Hitting you doesn’t even hurt…”
Wen Yang immediately pretended to clutch his arm, groaning dramatically.
“Neurotic~”
Ning Chu almost burst into laughter at his antics, trying to maintain a serious face. “I was in a good mood until you gave me a headache!”
“What if I make you something delicious tonight? What do you want?”
She shook her head, refusing, “Nothing in particular.”
“What about cola? Ice cream?”
“I’m not useless; if I want something, I can buy it myself.”
Suddenly, Yan Xinya rushed over, excitement lighting up her features, “An apology has got to be sincere! What you’re suggesting won’t fill the appetite of a Succubus~”
Wen Yang blinked in realization, coming to an understanding.
To express apologies to a Succubus, you’ve gotta satisfy that bottomless pit of a stomach!
Ning Chu’s face blushed crimson, and in a fit of embarrassed anger, she swung at the Wolf Girl, “You weirdo! Pervert!”
“What did I say that’s perverted?!”
She swung and missed, stumbling slightly before running after the Wolf Girl, shouting, “You better stop!”
“It’s because you’re the one thinking dirty!”
“Completely not!”
Watching the two girls chase each other off into the distance, Wen Yang quickly picked up his pace, muttering, “Be careful, don’t fall!”
