515. I Hate Men!
“Ugh~ Why so serious?”
With more than ten minutes to spare before the first class, Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie strolled into the classroom at a leisurely pace.
He immediately spotted Ning Chu, buried in her notes with a serious expression, and mocked, “Stop staring at that! Come retake the class with me; what’s so interesting?”
“Go away, as if I want to retake it with you!”
Ning Chu waved him off without looking up, as if swatting away a pesky mosquito.
She had no intention of rushing back to school during her senior internship just to retake exams; that was way too much trouble.
Just a few minutes later, unable to keep quiet, Zhang Shaoqing leaned over and asked, “Hey, can I borrow Wen Yang’s notes?”
“No way!”
“Stingy!”
“I worked hard for those! Why would I just give them to you?”
Her mildly studious mood was entirely ruined by this troublemaker, and Ning Chu shot back irritably, carefully covering up her notes to prevent Zhang Shaoqing from sneaking a peek.
Wen Yang’s notes were not easily obtained; she literally barked like a catgirl until her voice went hoarse just to get them last night.
As exams approached, the class, usually loud and chaotic, surprisingly began to engage in some serious last-minute cramming. Even the ever-energetic Yan Xinya was hunched over Lily’s notes, earnestly studying alongside the academic underdog Qian Qian.
Wen Yang casually answered Ning Chu’s questions from time to time while Lily worked hard flipping through past exam papers for her graduate school entrance exam.
“Why isn’t there a spell for photographic memory~” Qian Qian sighed dramatically, laying her head on the desk, her eyes glazing over.
“Spell? Qian Qian, have you gone brain dead from studying?” Yan Xinya muttered, but suddenly her eyes lit up, “Have you caught up with that cute guy yet?”
“No, not that fast…” Qian Qian grumbled, suspicious that her crush was a major boob guy with no interest in her modest assets, “I even asked him out yesterday, and he said he was busy.”
“Don’t rush it; you’ve only met a few times. If it went that fast, he’d definitely be a creep who’s just eyeing your body.” Wolf Girl, who loved to ship couples, chimed in eagerly, “Need my help? I was the wingwoman who helped Wen Yang win over Ning Chu!”
Ning Chu rolled her eyes silently from the side.
If it weren’t for Wolf Girl meddling back then, she wouldn’t have fallen into her current situation so fast.
Transforming from a complete tomboy to accepting her liking for men was all because of Wolf Girl—she had undeniable responsibility! It definitely wasn’t her own fault!
From another angle, this girl was practically her enemy! It’s just that her kind-hearted nature kept her from holding a grudge.
Suddenly, the class bell rang, and Ning Chu tucked her notebook away – only to find that the teacher was missing!
The classroom grew even noisier, so she turned to Yan Xinya and asked, “Xinya, any announcements?”
“Let’s check… Oh, the instructor just sent out a notice that the teacher has to take a leave today. We’re dismissed to go home and deal with our own lives.”
“Seriously~ I might as well sleep in longer!”
This had happened a few times before, and although they had gotten used to it, complaints were still common.
Zhang Shaoqing grumbled as he grabbed his textbook, “d*mn! I finally dragged myself here for class! I’m off to play games!”
Wang Jie silently packed his books and just as he stood up, Ning Chu called him out.
“Wang Jie! What’s up with you and your girlfriend right now?”
He paused, head down, and quietly walked out of the classroom.
“They haven’t broken up, have they?” Ning Chu said worriedly as she watched him leave, mumbling, “It was just a fight… they’ve been together for years, and I hadn’t heard of any arguments before.”
“Maybe this time the conflict reached a breaking point?” Wen Yang speculated.
“Maybe?”
Seeing Ning Chu’s worried expression, he smiled and ruffled Little Succubus’s hair, “Alright, let’s hit the library.”
“Wait, Wang Jie…”
“His matters will sort themselves out. Why do you always want to play the caring older sister?”
“Well, not really. How about you take him out for a drink sometime? Wang Jie can be pretty introverted; he needs to vent somehow.”
In the beginning, Ning Chu had her own motives for caring about her roommates, as she feared they’d end up like the characters in Little Emperor Wen, leaving her to become just another female side character caught between guys.
But now she had already transformed into a succubus and was the only female protagonist, so her concern for Wang Jie was genuinely out of friendship after knowing him for several years.
“Alright, after class tonight, I’ll buy some drinks to bring back to the dorm. Plus, Shaoqing’s been a pain lately, so let’s all deal with it together.”
“Don’t get drunk.”
As they packed up and headed to the library, Lily followed closely behind, clutching her exam papers.
Ning Chu slowed down to walk alongside Lily and asked, “What about Xinya and Qian Qian?”
“They don’t really like studying.”
“Have you found a mentor for your grad school exam?”
Lily shook her head blankly; with her personality, initiating a conversation with strangers felt like a d*ath sentence.
“I heard it’s better to find a mentor early…”
She lightly tapped her head, maintaining a stoic expression as usual, playing it cool.
Early in the morning, the library was mostly empty, with just a few students scattered across the reading area.
Lily dropped her textbook and eagerly darted to the bookshelves, and soon came back clutching a copy of Little Emperor Uncle, looking like she’d struck gold as she flipped through it happily.
The library was vast, and over the years, she managed to find some bizarre books from time to time, keeping her odd interests alive.
Ning Chu, curious, joined her, and the two little succubi quietly discussed the contents of the book, creating the illusion of two studious girls in the library.
For succubi, this actually counted as studying.
Wen Yang sat opposite them, long since accustomed to the scene, but still felt the need to remind, “Ning Chu, you don’t want to fail your finals, do you?”
“Hey! What’s wrong with taking a break…”
Ning Chu grumbled as she settled back next to Wen Yang, rubbing her temples in exasperation, “It’s so hard~ Teach me.”
“Okay, focus a bit. Stop spacing out all the time.”
“I space out because you’re so boring~”
Fortunately, in a public place like the library, when succubi spaced out, they would just fidget with their phones, rather than deliberately turn teaching into, well, something else.
But as they taught and learned, the distance between the two naturally closed in as they drew nearer.
When Lily looked up, she found that Ning Chu was practically sitting on Wen Yang’s lap, her cheeks flushed.
No eyes for this…
“In public, and no sense of shame.”
She grumbled sourly, but Ning Chu’s sharp ears caught every word.
“Why don’t you find yourself a boyfriend then~”
“I don’t need one; I hate men.”
