“Wake up, wake up! It’s already four o’clock!”
The door slammed as Ning Chu jolted awake, instinctively reaching for the familiar warmth beside her, only to find it absent.

“I don’t like wearing things. The ones Wen Yang gave me, I never wear.” She lay back, eyes closed, obediently letting Lily do her makeup while mumbling, “Besides, I haven’t even pierced my ears; I’m scared it’ll hurt.”

“Do you go to the hospital for that?”
Just then, a “beep” sounded as the main door opened.
“Wen Yang, where have you been?!”
Wen Yang entered, carrying several hand-held pancakes and peeked into the bathroom: “What are you guys up to?”
“Lily’s doing my makeup.”
“Speed it up! We have to go to school to take photos.”
