Trapped in Paradise – Chapter 80

080. Touching Moments

~

Early in the morning, Wen Yang yawned as he and Ning Chu walked out the front door of the dormitory building.

Having barely slept the night before, his mind was a swirling mess of questions and confusion about Ning Chu, but thankfully he managed to cheer her up before bedtime.

The unfortunate part was that he dreamt about Ning Chu again, which left him feeling awkward beyond belief.

“Shao Qing and Wang Jie aren’t back yet, huh?” Ning Chu caught up with Wen Yang, clutching her textbooks to her chest to shield her apple-sized assets from the prying eyes of passerby. She mumbled, “Are they planning to skip class on the second day?”

“Maybe they’ve already made it to class?”

Wen Yang’s gaze kept darting over to Ning Chu, but he never dared to hold her gaze for too long.

She’s definitely a girl, yet somehow way more attractive than the average girl.

Is she even really a girl?

Just look at those little mountains that tremble slightly with each step, those soft, delicate arms without a hint of muscle, her narrow, petite shoulders, and that cute little backside…

The images from last night’s dream resurfaced, making Wen Yang’s eyes flicker as he hesitated to look further.

At the cafeteria, as usual, Wen Yang picked up some pickled vegetables and plain porridge for himself, and a portion of mixed noodles and dumplings for Ning Chu.

“I’ve sent you the money.”

“Uh-huh.”

Ning Chu was never one to take advantage of Wen Yang, not even when it came to a bottle of water; she would always transfer money right away.

What’s the point of picking on the poor guy? Much more fun to torment Zhang Shaoqing and watch that guy’s frustrated face.

The cafeteria before class was crowded, every window jammed with two rows of hungry students waiting to be fed. Ning Chu rested her chin on her hand, chewing while casually scanning the room.

Not too shabby, there aren’t any girls around who are currently gawking at Wen Yang.

She used to see it as a mission to sabotage the plot, but now her only goal was to dodge it and avoid triggering any events.

Thinking about the little bean sprout beneath her and the signs of shifting internal components, Ning Chu’s expression soured.

Next time she might completely transform into a girl, or perhaps the time after that… No one can predict this stuff except that pesky old heaven.

But being stuck between boys and girls feels pretty weird too.

She considered that if she triggered any plot next time, she’d just give up and not care, even if Wen Yang decided to give up his virginity; she wouldn’t get involved… God knows what would happen next—maybe she’d turn into a girl right then and there.

“Here, you can have the rest.”

Once she finished her noodles, Ning Chu pushed the half-eaten dumpling portion toward Wen Yang.

Wen Yang had gotten used to it, naturally picking up the disposable spoon Ning Chu had just used and gobbling down a dumpling, soup and all.

Ning Chu wrinkled her brow at the sight but chose to remain silent, sighing as she continued to daydream.

“Hey! Wen Yang!”

From the next dorm, a classmate who had tried to get Wen Yang to play basketball a few days ago sauntered over, a smirk plastered on his face as he asked, “What’s the progress with Shan Shan?”

Wen Yang paused mid-bite, frowning at him. “What?”

“Like, what’s the status? How far have you guys gone?”

“Nothing, we unfriended each other.”

“What?”

The classmate’s reaction made Wen Yang frown even deeper. Once the guy left, he turned to Ning Chu, asking, “Do you think Shan Shan has had her eye on me all along?”

“Uh-huh, that dude was probably sent by Shan Shan,” Ning Chu mumbled. “What was his name again?”

It was only the second day of class, and since he had little habit of socializing, he only knew his dorm mates and those bad girls in class.

As for others, he either knew their names but couldn’t place the face or recognized the person but didn’t know their name.

After lunch, on their way to the classroom, they met up with Zhang Shaoqing and Wang Jie.

“Such a pity you guys didn’t come last night! It was epic! There was a pole dancing show!”

“I even invited two girls to drink with us, but Wang Jie here was so chicken he didn’t even dare lay a finger on them!”

“Oh man! I’m a bit hungover, I think I’ll head back to the dorm for a nap.”

As they walked to class, Zhang Shaoqing excitedly recounted the previous night’s escapades, stirring up curiosity in Wen Yang, who was both eager and chicken at the same time.

Then Ning Chu kicked his calf.

“Not interested,” Wen Yang quickly shut down the curiosity, putting on a ‘good guy’ act. “Bars are crazy. Who knows if someone’ll slip something in your drink?”

“I’m not a girl, why should I be scared?” Zhang Shaoqing laughed, wrapping an arm around Wang Jie’s shoulder. “Dude, why were you so chicken last night?”

Wang Jie, looking earnest replied, “I already like someone, so I’m not touching other girls.”

“Who is it?”

“A high school classmate, she’s studying at another university.”

“Whoa~ What a loyal guy!” Zhang Shaoqing exclaimed in surprise, then added teasingly, “But she doesn’t know, so…”

Wang Jie stubbornly shook his head.

Ning Chu, eavesdropping on their conversation, learned for the first time that Wang Jie already had a girl he liked.

So, the plot’s bug has been fixed… When the girl from the story is in a boys’ dorm surrounded by boys, it’s not that Wang Jie was oblivious or a fool; he just simply had someone he liked in mind, which is why he remained indifferent.

If only Wen Yang had Wang Jie’s character.

Now that’s what I call truly good! Completely unfazed by girls, not even a glance. In the world of Little Emperor Wen, to have someone so pure and loyal almost brought Ning Chu to tears.

Meanwhile, Wen Yang only seemed straightforward on the outside, but on the inside, he was anything but—a total harem playboy in the making just waiting for an opportunity.

Thank goodness he was still a virgin; what a coward.

The morning consisted of an English class.

Zhang Shaoqing took attendance and then slipped away while Wang Jie, still slightly hungover, forced himself to stay focused.

Ning Chu faced English with a resigned attitude. She had already returned that mess to the teacher and couldn’t remember much beyond a few common words; her vocabulary was worse than it was in middle school.

She rested her head sideways on her desk, her chubby cheeks squished flat as she peeked at Wen Yang, who was paying attention in class.

Though the story didn’t mention Wen Yang’s academic prowess, he was surprisingly serious in class, sitting up straight, his face lit with focus, occasionally jotting down notes and underlining key points in his book.

Even during breaks, he would sit there practicing English instead of playing on his phone.

Seeing her character being so studious made Ning Chu feel a pang of guilt for her own lazy demeanor.

With her eyes tightly closed, she decided not to look at him anymore.

English was just torture! Learning it again was out of the question!

“Should we head to the library after lunch? I want to borrow some books to k*ll time,” Wen Yang suddenly asked.

Ning Chu paused. She remembered there was a scene in the story where Wen Yang flirts in the library, but it should be fine.

“Sure.”

Made some adjustments to the storyline, removed several chapters.

If I’m slow at writing today, it might just be this one chapter.
