091. We’re Done For!
“Ning Chu!”
“Here~”
Ning Chu rested his chin on one hand, yawning as he raised his hand for attendance.
It was already the third day, yet the stomach pain hadn’t ended.
There was no luck left to cling to; medically speaking, he was probably a full-fledged girl now.
He let out a despondent sigh and glanced at the message notification on his phone—once again from Han Jingye.
“What a pain…”
Ning Chu furrowed his brows and didn’t even bother to look at the chat message. He just locked his screen and drooped over his desk.
Having someone to chat with during boring times wasn’t too bad, but now that Wen Yang had voiced his opinion, Ning Chu had to choose to ignore it.
Less chance of Wen Yang rebelling against his control and running off for a date.
The locked phone lit up again.
“Is it so slow during working hours…?”
Ning Chu muttered under his breath, unable to shake off the nagging doubts about the plot.
Could it be that Han Jingye really saw him as a target this time?
His previous heightened sensitivity had given him some guilt towards the diligent instructor, but this time the instructor’s enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming.
At first, he thought it was just a normal concern for a student. But Han Jingye chatting him up for several days in a row felt a bit wrong.
And it was class time, for crying out loud!
“He’s messaging you again?” Wen Yang asked quietly, looking down.
“Yeah, I ignored him.”
Ning Chu frowned slightly, losing interest in the lecture. He jokingly warned, “Look at your face right now; the instructor could totally be a pervert who likes trap boys. You need to be careful.”
Wow~ So I’ve mastered all the tricks you use to stop me from dating!
Yesterday it was backhanded insults, today it’s alarmist warnings.
Ning Chu stifled a laugh, but then quickly lost it again when he realized that Wen Yang was definitely jealous.
Clearly, Wen Yang was more of a pervert than he was in this scenario…
“Relax, I won’t chat with the instructor anymore.” Ning Chu also felt something was off. “Didn’t you see I didn’t reply to his messages?”
“That’s good… but shouldn’t you delete him? Wait, no, deleting the instructor would be rude.”
What’s with this sudden reversal of roles?
He grasped the hot water bottle around his waist, bewilderment and confusion in his eyes, utterly puzzled.
If Ning Chu stopped Wen Yang from dating due to fearing that he’d become a girl, then why was Wen Yang stopping him from chatting with other guys?
Was he really worried that Han Jingye was a pervert? No way, right?
If it’s jealousy, then that means Wen Yang sees him as more than a friend…
Ning Chu felt a surge of panic, but overall he still held it together. Even though medically he was a girl now, at least his p*nis was still there!
…
After what felt like an eternity, class finally ended. Ning Chu felt a wave of refreshing clarity wash over him as he took a deep breath, picked up his book, and got ready to follow Wen Yang to the next classroom.
God knows why classes weren’t held in fixed rooms in university.
Trailing behind Wen Yang with his head down, he unlocked his phone to check the messages from Han Jingye.
“Are you in class? Make sure to pay attention.”
“Don’t forget to tidy up your dorms; there’s a hygiene inspection this afternoon.”
“Come to my office after class.”
Ning Chu gave a quick glance and didn’t reply. He tugged at Wen Yang’s shirt.
“Wen Yang, there’s a hygiene inspection this afternoon.”
“Really? I had no idea!”
“The instructor told me.”
Mentioning the instructor gave Wen Yang a headache. He stopped walking, about to say something, when suddenly Zhang Shaoqing started cursing like a sailor.
“Seriously! Are you mental? Didn’t we just have an inspection during military training?!”
“That was a month ago.” Wang Jie soothed, “It’s about time we cleaned the dorm; let’s take care of it during lunch, huh?”
“Our dorm is as clean as can be!”
Zhang Shaoqing was the loudest with his complaints but turned into a total wuss when push came to shove.
Ning Chu had long since figured out his tough act, rolling his eyes at him before turning back to Wen Yang. “The instructor wants me to see him.”
“What does he want?”
“No idea.”
“Should I come with you?”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Ning Chu shook his head, refusing, “I’m not going. Just pretend I don’t know anything.”
He recognized that Han Jingye’s attitude towards him was too enthusiastic; something was definitely off. He didn’t want to walk into a trap.
If Wen Yang triggered the plot, he could unceremoniously shove the little virgin he had trained for a month out there and go along with the plot development.
Wen Yang would probably be quite pleased.
But if he set off the plot himself, whether to comply with the story or mess it up and become a girl, neither option was acceptable!
“I’ll go to the restroom.”
“Sure.”
The two turned a corner and headed toward the bathroom.
Ning Chu typically didn’t deal with things in public; he stood outside in the hallway waiting for Wen Yang to come out.
A girl with her head down slowly walked to the other side of the hallway.
Ning Chu’s attention was immediately drawn to her. He frowned, sizing her up.
It was the vice-class leader, who had made quite an impression on him during the class committee elections. He figured she could probably knock him out with one punch… Back then, she was a hyperactive wolf girl, her tail like a helicopter rotor. Now, though, she looked a bit wilted, her wolf tail tucked between her legs, and her once-perky gray ears were drooping lifelessly.
Even though she was the vice-class leader, she wasn’t involved in any of the book’s plotlines, and Ning Chu still hadn’t remembered her name.
But that didn’t mean he was going to let his guard down!
Such a pretty background character was quite dangerous!
Just a few minutes later, Wen Yang came out of the restroom, shaking his freshly washed hands. The moment he saw Wen Yang, the wolf girl quickly lifted her head and hurried over.
“Just as I thought!”
Ning Chu jolted, already on high alert as he stepped forward, blocking the wolf girl’s path.
He had dealt with countless girls trying to get their contact information or even confessing directly…
Before the wolf girl had a chance to speak, he grabbed Wen Yang’s wrist and dragged him away, mumbling an overly casual excuse, “We’ve got stuff to do~ Move along~”
“Wen, Wen Yang… can you help me…”
As soon as the wolf girl opened her mouth, her pitiful voice made Wen Yang stop in his tracks. Ning Chu put all his strength into tugging him back, but despite twisting and sliding on the tiles, he couldn’t budge him.
Wow, look at that! Men really can’t resist a girl’s sad eyes! True nature exposed, huh!
It’s not that he wasn’t alert! The enemy was just too cunning!
With a dark expression, Ning Chu begrudgingly stayed close to Wen Yang, his eyes fixated intensely on the wolf girl’s face.
No big deal, she’s not a plot character.
“What’s wrong?” Wen Yang frowned. “Why are you crying?”
“I…”
The wolf girl timidly glanced at Ning Chu, clearly hoping he would leave.
But he didn’t give her the satisfaction and flatly said, “If you have something to say, say it in front of both of us. More helpers are always better when asking for help.”
Seeing Wen Yang nod in agreement, the wolf girl hesitated, looking around cautiously. When she saw no other students around, she lowered her head and spoke in a barely audible voice.
“I—I was harassed by the instructor.”
“!!!”
Both Ning Chu and Wen Yang were left utterly shocked.
Oh no! We’re done for!
