129. Dormitory Shenanigans
Lin Nan was a bit frazzled by the sudden medical examination.
But after some pondering, she realized that she had no good excuse to dodge it—she just had to grit her teeth and endure. After all, what’s the worst that could happen?
The other procedures were no big deal, but the whole gendered internal examination thing was a bit problematic. Girls usually went in one by one, while the boys were herded in groups. Soon, they would all be lying on tables while the doctor poked and prodded their stomachs and waists.
And boy, there was no hiding the chest then…
But hey, they probably wouldn’t find out my gender, right?
Feeling a mix of anxiety and determination, Lin Nan packed her lunch and headed back to the dormitory, munching away while a parade of nerves danced in her mind.
I’ve worn a swimsuit before; I can definitely swallow my pride this time…
Suddenly, her phone buzzed. It was that junior who had struck up a conversation with her back in the cafeteria.
“Senior, wanna team up for some gaming?”
Lin Nan had smartly deleted all of his various contacts, yet for some reason, she had ended up giving him her phone number.
Classic rookie mistake. How did I ever think this guy was a gaming fan who admired my skills?
She glanced at the message, then ignored it completely, setting her phone aside to continue eating her lunch.
The junior sent a few more texts, but she didn’t even take a look. Instead, her mind wandered back to the counselor.
Seriously, couldn’t he keep his mouth shut about personal matters? Now her classmates were teasing her; it wasn’t malicious, just a bit embarrassing.
Sure, the guy was handsome, but couldn’t he consider the sensitive psychology of his students?
She sighed heavily when the dorm door suddenly banged. “d*mn! Who locked the door in broad daylight? Let me in!” came the booming voice of Tu Junhui outside.
Lin Nan turned and shot a glare at the culprit, Chen Yao, who had the gall to lock the door on his way back.
“Open up already!” Tu Junhui shouted again, sounding even more ridiculous.
Chen Yao had already gotten up with his hand on the doorknob, but upon hearing Tu Junhui’s cocky tone, he just stood there, confidently firing back, “What did you say?”
“You heard me! Open the gate for your dear dad!” Tu Junhui continued his theatrics.
“Sure, right.”
As soon as Chen Yao opened the door, Tu Junhui lunged at him, but since they were about the same height, and while Chen Yao may not have been as heavy, his reflexes were on point. He sidestepped, sending Tu Junhui crashing headfirst into the metal bedframe.
“Ouch! You better have the guts to 1v1 me, Yasuo!”
It didn’t hurt that much, but Tu Junhui, clutching his forehead, kept shouting, “I’ll smack you so hard you won’t be able to sit down!”
“Dumbass!”
The usual ruckus in the dorm continued, while Xiong Da was half-heartedly playing on his phone. With a dramatic sigh, he covered his head with his blanket, while Lin Nan found the whole scene to be quite entertaining.
Tu Junhui grumbled back to his spot but suddenly got hit with a realization and flung open the back door to the dorm. Immediately, a powerful stench surged forward, causing him to slam the door shut, looking as pale as a ghost.
“What on earth smells so awful?” Lin Nan’s appetite evaporated, and she frowned at him.
“How would I know?” he said, sitting down sheepishly. Trying to change the subject, he added, “Hey, wanna queue up for a duo?”
Lin Nan was too preoccupied with the rancid aroma from the balcony; Chen Yao, who was far away, hadn’t caught a whiff yet. He looked confused and asked, “What smell? Is the balcony that bad?”
“Go see for yourself!” Lin Nan was done with food, leaving her half-eaten lunch aside.
Chen Yao, completely unaware, stood up to investigate the balcony, muttering, “Did someone forget to flush the toilet this morning?”
As soon as he opened the door, the noxious odor hit him like a freight train. He backed away in horror and yelled, “What the heck! Why is it so foul out there?!”
Tu Junhui, looking guilty, said, “Could be my laundry soaking in a bucket?”
“I knew it was you!” Chen Yao tried to shove Tu Junhui towards the balcony, but the guy weighed a ton and wouldn’t budge.
“Chill out!”
“Get out there and clean it up already!”
Lin Nan nodded in disapproval, “Yeah, hurry up and sort it out before you come back. Otherwise, you’re sleeping in another dorm tonight. And how long did you leave those clothes soaking to get that smell?”
“Er, maybe a week? I kinda lost track.”
Tu Junhui initially intended to resist but, facing the threats, reluctantly headed out to the balcony. Every time he opened and shut the door, the rancid smell wafted in, forcing Lin Nan to grab a chair and move to Chen Yao’s side.
What on earth is wrong with this guy?
A moment later, Tu Junhui re-entered, lugging a bucket full of murky water. The foul stench filled the entire room, and Lin Nan and Chen Yao bolted for the exit. Xiong Da, who was still in his pajamas and had no time to put on shoes, nearly slipped as he scrambled out, hurriedly trailing behind Lin Nan and Chen Yao into the hallway.
“Tu Junhui! For the love of everything, dump that water in the toilet! Why bring that bucket in here?” Lin Nan yelled, on the verge of losing it.
Forget about finishing her lunch; at this rate, the whole dorm would need disinfecting.
Chen Yao’s face was as black as coal, one hand clenching his nose as he sighed, “Fine, I’ll go downstairs to get some disinfectant. We’ll sanitize the place before class. By the time I’m back, the stench should be gone.”
Xiong Da stood dejectedly in the hallway, still clad in his pajamas, feeling utterly violated.
All he wanted was to chill in bed and scroll through his phone for a bit—how did he get dragged into this mess?
Tu Junhui was relatively quick about it, dumping the dirty water and stuffing the clothes that had been marinating for who knows how many days into a garbage bag. Holding his nose, he opened the dormitory door.
“Alright, alright, you can come back in now.”
“What about those clothes?” Lin Nan frowned in disgust, creating some distance. “If you’re throwing them out, please make sure they land far, far away.”
“Throw them out? They cost money, okay? I’ll just wash them in the laundromat downstairs!” He said this like it was the most logical thing in the universe.
“???“
Chen Yao was baffled: “I’m never using the school’s washing machine again!”
After Tu Junhui left, Lin Nan felt brave enough to re-enter, but the stench still lingered strong enough to scare her off. Fetching her textbooks for the afternoon class, she figured she’d just hang out in the cafeteria until class started.
Honestly, she knew Tu Junhui was careless with his personal affairs, but who would’ve thought he could soak clothes long enough to smell like that—and was actually planning to use the public washer to fix it?
If it were her, she would have tossed the whole lot out the second it started to stink!
