139. Maybe This Is Magic
==============================
The next evening at five o’clock, Lin Nan arrived outside the back gate of the school wearing Chen Yao’s black coat, feeling all kinds of guilty as he scanned the area. It seemed like Li Na was late.
Dressed in black from head to toe and completely covered by the coat, he still looked like a graceful girl—even managed to make boy’s clothing feel a bit feminine.
He turned to check on Chen Yao, who was standing under a tree and keeping a watchful eye on him, giving a quick nod before hiding under a shady tree to wait for Li Na’s arrival.
Lin Nan felt a little nervous and, as nerves would have it, couldn’t help but fidget with the hem of his clothes while his body swayed slightly. He kept glancing around at the students coming in and out of the school’s back door, anxiously waiting for Li Na.
“I wonder what this guy wants to do tonight…” Lin Nan muttered to himself.
According to Li Na, she needed to bring back Lilith’s magic to prove that she had indeed been hunting Lilith during her time on Earth. Unfortunately for Lin Nan, he was a complete magic novice—besides following the “program” to use the unlocked spells, he didn’t know a thing about any other techniques. This meant that to capture Lilith’s magic, all he could rely on was prolonged close contact.
How close? What kind of contact? Well, she didn’t elaborate.
Lin Nan hoped there might be another way, but of course, Li Na only told him about this option.
It would be best if they just had to sleep together!
He felt as if he was caught in a bizarre situation, and the thought made his face flush, leaving him flustered.
“Hey!” A hand suddenly slapped on his shoulder, startling Lin Nan so much he jumped, shivering as he turned around to see none other than Li Na.
Today, Li Na was dressed in a white long skirt—the same one she had worn last time when he saw Liu Xuefei. Why it was suddenly on her, he had no idea.
And she looked pretty good in it.
Li Na’s doll-like face gave off a kind of loli vibe, and considering she was actually three hundred years old but still underage, the white dress only made her look even more adorably towering.
Lin Nan instinctively glanced at Li Na’s chest. It was at a normal level for a woman, but on her doll-like face, it just felt a bit off.
So envious….
He quickly shut down those thoughts, awkwardly greeting her with, “Hi.”
“Shall we wander around first?” Li Na said with a smile. “Did you bring your ID? We’ll need to find an inn later.”
“Yep, I’ve got it.”
Lin Nan worried a bit that his current face looked nothing like the picture on his ID, which might get him refused entry, but remembering how he dressed as a girl last time and wasn’t stopped, he felt a bit better.
Li Na grabbed his arm, leaning half her body against him with a beaming smile: “Tonight, you’re all mine!”
That line was probably ambiguous, or maybe that’s just how she meant it.
He mustered a strained smile, feeling like a lamb being led to slaughter, while Li Na was the butcher with a kn*fe.
His body was so tense it felt like he was being dragged by Li Na, his mind racing with all sorts of bizarre thoughts.
Am I really going to get ed tonight?
I don’t think Li Na is into S&M, right?
She didn’t bring any weird props, did she?
If Lin Nan were dating a girl in a normal way, sleeping together wouldn’t be a problem. Or if he were a girl sleeping with a normal girl, he could just about accept it. But being with a perverted Uke…
That was a tough pill to swallow!
He tried hard to keep a smile on his face so Li Na wouldn’t catch on to his reluctance; after all, whether Lilith would take over his body depended entirely on Li Na, and he didn’t dare to offend her.
Why do I have to feel like a working adult catering to a big boss when I’m only a sophomore?
Stealing a glance back, he was relieved to see Chen Yao still far behind, giving him some slight comfort.
“Want to grab a bite? I’ll cover everything today!” Li Na said with a confident flick of her eyes at the food stalls along the street. “Don’t let my looks fool you! I actually go do tutoring every week and make a lot of money!”
“Tutoring?” Lin Nan asked, surprised. “Do you teach people magic?”
“I’ve got magic! The kids I tutor have such good memories, I just teach them a bit, and they remember everything!” Li Na put her hands on her hips, looking like a greedy landlord, “I can easily make thousands a month!”
Lin Nan was filled with envy and asked eagerly, “What magic? Teach me too!”
Magic that boosts students’ memory temporarily so they remember everything from the lesson… that was basically a tutor’s holy grail!
Just imagine, once he learned that magic, he’d never have to slog through handing out flyers all afternoon again—he could just sit comfortably and teach, making thousands every month. It was a dream!
“You wouldn’t be able to use it even if you learned,” Li Na smirked. “High-level magic isn’t something you can handle.”
Well, okay then…
Lin Nan felt a little disappointed, but the thought of Li Na covering the costs today got him pumped again.
Shopping wasn’t his thing, but shopping combined with buying stuff? Now that he liked!
The street behind the school was a haven for students, home to all sorts of food, entertainment, and shopping opportunities. Lin Nan started off with a few snacks but quickly began darting in and out of various stores, looking for things that caught his fancy.
“This pair of white shoes looks pretty androgynous—buying it!”
“This coat is a bit oversized, but winter is coming—buying it!”
“This diamond necklace…”
Li Na smacked Lin Nan on the back of the head, dragging him away from the jewelry store.
“You really think I’m a money tree?” Although she didn’t care much about money—after all, she wasn’t from this world—she still needed it for basic living, not for extravagant diamonds.
Li Na noticed Lin Nan was like a bottomless pit when it came to shopping, but as she looked up, she spotted a sign for an inn across the street: “Come on, let’s get a room!”
“Ah? No more shopping?”
Lin Nan felt a pang of disappointment at having to stop, but then dread kicked in over his personal safety.
“If we keep shopping, I’m going to starve!” Li Na said as she pulled him toward the inn. “We’re running out of time!”
Why was she in such a hurry… Was she really about to pounce on me already?
He was panic-stricken, and wanted to glance back at Chen Yao for help, but with it being Friday, the street was packed, and Chen Yao’s figure was swallowed up by the crowd.
Lin Nan was in a turmoil, but his feet were still dragged into the inn by Li Na.
This inn was clearly better than the one Lin Nan had stayed in last time; at least it was clean, and the receptionist was a pretty girl.
Li Na handed over an ID she had seemingly pulled from thin air, and then casually fished Lin Nan’s ID out of his pocket to offer at the front desk: “One big bed room, please.”
With his head down and body quaking with nerves, Lin Nan hoped the receptionist would notice the mismatch between his appearance and the ID photo, refusing their entry.
“This ID?” The receptionist said, looking confusedly from the photo to them both, “How can two girls use a guy’s ID…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly stiffened, obediently lowered her head, and began processing their check-in.
This must be magic, right?
