141. A Million Kills?

Li Na paused, recalling the details, and eventually nodded. “It seems… she did cry while fighting. She must have wanted to come back with me, but some evil force was controlling her, threatening her—she was just so emotional…”
As she continued, it got more ridiculous, painting Lilith as a poor white lotus persecuted by evil forces.
There were too many memories of Lilith for Lin Nan to recall them all specifically, even though some were so clear he could remember the number of rice grains in his lunch on a particular day.
But it was precisely because those memories were so vivid that after two months, he hadn’t dared to dig them up. He was scared that the massive influx of memories would turn him into a Lilith clone.
The beef noodles were indeed packed with beef; at a glance, you could barely see the noodles. Lin Nan took a glance at Li Na’s bowl and found it was just an ordinary bowl of beef noodles without any extras.
Looks like she really enjoys noodles.
Lin Nan mumbled to himself but obediently ate the meat, shoveling all the noodles into Li Na’s bowl.
If she didn’t want the beef, that meant she really loved her noodles. Yep.
Li Na didn’t complain and accepted the noodles, but her deadpan expression while watching Lin Nan made him a bit uneasy.
Aside from the first time they met when she threatened him with a kn*fe, Li Na usually had a bright smile whenever she saw him, which allowed him to let his guard down. Yet he totally forgot this was a top-tier existence in another world.
He quickly scooped the noodles back into his bowl.

Li Na looked at him blankly, and Lin Nan stared at her in equally clueless confusion.

Li Na glanced at his dazed expression and immediately understood his state. She let out a soft sigh and poked him in the forehead with her finger.
“Ouch! That hurts!”
“Awake now?”
“Uh… sort of.” Lin Nan rubbed his forehead, grimacing from the pain, but he felt a lot more alert.
He already had a bit of morning grouchiness, but ever since meeting Lilith, waking up groggy had become a real problem. Moments later, he couldn’t even remember what he’d just done, like a person who wakes up in the middle of the night to pee, switches on the light, and then forgets everything the next day, full of confusion wondering if there was a burglar in the house.
Li Na didn’t mind his earlier actions. After finishing their meal, she propped her chin up with her hands and watched him slurp his noodles.
“So… can I sleep on the floor tonight?” Lin Nan asked hesitantly.
“No way~” Li Na smiled as she declined.
Lin Nan’s heart jumped: “You’re not going to… get all hands-on with me, are you?”
“What’s wrong with girls getting handsy with each other?”
Well, it didn’t seem to be a problem, actually.
Although Lin Nan hadn’t experienced life in a girls’ dorm yet, he knew from the internet that girls often shared unnecessary intimacy with each other.
But he wasn’t a girl!

Lin Nan decided to temporarily abandon any resistance. After all, this girl could easily wipe out Earth if she had enough magic; his resistance felt like a toddler throwing a tantrum in front of Li Na.
As long as it didn’t go too far, if it did, he’d just turn invisible and sneak away.
Mumbling to himself, Lin Nan finished his noodles, turned around, and snuggled into the blankets, pretending to play with his phone while ignoring Li Na, allowing the blanket to give him a bit of security.
“Getting cozy, huh?”
Li Na slid into the blanket as well.
Lin Nan went rigid all over; even though he hadn’t felt her doing anything yet, just sharing the same blanket made him really uneasy.
“Uh… should we watch TV?” He asked, lowering his head.
“Sure.” Li Na looked at Lin Nan’s flustered face, and occasionally, she made noises similar to a purring cat, clearly in a good mood.
But Lin Nan wasn’t feeling it; his skin crawled, his heart raced, and his face was getting hotter. He fidgeted nervously, rubbing his clothes under the blanket, finding no joy in what should be the bliss of sharing a bed with a girl for the first time.
“Don’t you take off your outer jacket when you sleep?” Li Na turned on the TV and sat cross-legged, still watching Lin Nan’s face.
Lin Nan jumped a bit, hesitantly took off Chen Yao’s jacket, and placed it on the nightstand.
“If only you were really Lilith…”
Li Na’s tone suddenly turned a bit melancholic, as if she were talking to herself or complaining to Lin Nan. “That girl’s personality is so foolish, like an ox. And she even hit me when I tried to chase her…”
Lin Nan’s mind automatically conjured up a dramatic scene from Naruto’s battle at the Valley of the End.
“Ever since then, I’ve been wanting to find her, to bring her back… but she suddenly turned into this infamous witch, wreaking havoc everywhere, becoming less and less like the Lilith I knew. I heard last year she achieved a million kills… she actually killed a thousand people!”
“She’ll get better, right?” Lin Nan asked softly, looking down.
He had no idea if the ‘million kills’ Li Na was talking about meant the same thing he understood, but he was trembling with fear and didn’t dare to ask.
With a pout, he curiously asked, “But if you really switch her body, would I still have any influence? What about her personality?”
“For you, no influence. Until decades later when her magic runs out and she becomes a regular human again. As for Lilith…” Li Na chuckled mischievously, “I’ll make sure her new body has zero magic! When she comes back, she’ll be so confused—there’s no magic for her to use on Earth, so I can train her before taking her home!”
“If she comes back in your body, I bet I couldn’t even take her!”
Sounds like Li Na had everything planned out.
Lin Nan leaned against the nightstand, his emotions calming down after their conversation.
At least for now, Li Na didn’t seem to want to take action against him.

Watching TV, playing with his phone, the sky outside gradually darkened.
Inside the room, he could vaguely hear students outside playing around on the street. Occasionally, light footsteps echoed in the hallway, and in the quiet moments, he could hear sounds of applause for love from upstairs.
Lin Nan pretended to be nonchalant, looking down at his novel, but occasionally stole glances at Li Na beside him.
The bed at the inn was quite large. Even though Lin Nan and Li Na were both leaning back against the headboard, there was still enough space between them for an adult to lie down comfortably.
To Lin Nan, this distance didn’t feel entirely safe, but after a couple of hours, Li Na hadn’t crossed any boundaries, which made him feel somewhat relieved.
The consequences of being overly wary meant that Lin Nan was on high alert, combined with the accumulated drowsiness from only sleeping for ten minutes earlier; now that he realized there was no danger, his eyelids began to droop uncontrollably.
He didn’t plan on taking off his clothes while sleeping at the inn; he was even hesitant to lay his face on the pillow, afraid that the hygiene might not be up to par and end up contracting some contagious skin disease.
He shuffled a bit, originally leaning against the headboard, but then lay flat and snuggled under the covers with a long sigh.
A year ago, he would’ve never imagined that sharing a bed with a girl for the first time would make him so nervous and terrified that he’s trembling all over.
“Getting ready to sleep?” Li Na looked down at Lin Nan beside her.
Hearing her voice, Lin Nan jumped, then nodded silently a couple of times.
Li Na grinned at the nervous Lin Nan, suddenly revealing a sly smile as she reached her hands toward his chest. Lin Nan instantly flipped out, covering himself with the blanket, then without hesitation, tried to roll off the bed.
But Li Na was quicker; she leaped on him, pressing down on his shoulders and quickly restraining him.
In a reflex, Lin Nan activated his invisibility spell, slowly fading from Li Na’s view, but she didn’t react, still wearing that sweet smile as if she were offering him candy.
“Don’t…” Lin Nan could only look at Li Na pitifully, his heart racing, and sweat began to bead on his palms. “I… I’m still a guy, not your type…”
“Pull the blanket up a bit, don’t catch a cold.” Li Na casually adjusted the blanket, lifting it to Lin Nan’s chin, then asked with a smile, “What are you shivering for? Afraid I’ll eat you?”
“…..”
You must know I have constant-temperature magic and won’t catch a cold!
Lin Nan suspected this girl was just trying to mess with him; she probably had no actual intentions toward him in her mind.
“Let’s sleep.” Li Na switched off the light, then got up to close the curtains. “When you wake up tomorrow at noon, I’ll have collected your magic.”
“What does that mean?”
“Because I have to stay by your side… for about eighteen hours or so, to gather up the magic you unintentionally leak. That way, the concentration will be enough to fool those idiots.”
So that’s what it was! Gathering magic didn’t require some strange liquid like white or thick stuff?
Lin Nan was momentarily stunned; his thoughts had been led astray by some weird novels and manga, and he asked dazedly, “Then why don’t we just go to the internet café and pull an all-nighter?”
“How would an all-nighter help me mess with you? Plus, it’s bad for your skin.” Li Na pulled the curtains shut, and instantly, the room went dark. She turned back and smiled, “Plus, staying up late can throw off your hormones and cause acne.”
Hearing that from someone from another world felt incredibly out of place.
Even though it was only a little past eight, Lin Nan thought it was time to sleep; if he waited any longer, Li Na would definitely find all sorts of ways to mess with him on purpose.
Snuggled under the blankets, eyes shut, Lin Nan couldn’t help but recollect the bizarre actions he did earlier to unlock the invisibility spell.
Had he known Lilith had no interest in him, he wouldn’t have had to endure the awkwardness of doing those strange operations.
It was all Li Na’s fault.
The bed shook gently a couple of times, and Li Na climbed onto the bed.
Lin Nan opened his eyes to see her vague figure in the dark.
“What… are you taking off your clothes for?”
He got nervous again, swallowed hard, and thought maybe he was being a little too optimistic earlier.
“I’m not used to sleeping in clothes; when I’m in the dorms, I’m usually n*de.” Li Na smiled at Lin Nan, “Aren’t you going to take yours off?”
“No, no thanks.”
Running around n*ked in a dorm? Do you not have any sense of embarrassment?!
Lin Nan awkwardly forced a smile, decided to clear his mind, closed his eyes, and tried to avoid thinking about anything extra.
After all, this girl was definitely just trying to mess with him again.
But the rustling sound of clothes being taken off didn’t stop. Lin Nan’s tense body trembled slightly, and after a moment, he sensed something warm next to him.
It seemed like she wasn’t getting close to him, though.
Lin Nan couldn’t help but open his eyes to take another look, only to find Li Na still kneeling, seemingly exposing her upper body, staring directly at him in the dark.
What the hell!
Although it looked nice at first glance, to Lin Nan, this Saintess now looked like a demon.
His face flushed, lips trembling slightly, teeth clenched, and his hands formed fists, ready to call for Chen Yao next door at any moment.
But if Chen Yao barged in now, wouldn’t Li Na be exposed?
His thoughts took a strange turn.
“Let’s sleep, don’t overthink it.” Li Na lay down, pulled the blanket over herself, and chuckled. “You Earth people are always filled with filthy thoughts; this body, carrying such a sullied soul, is not even worthy of being used by Lilith. Otherwise, why would I help you?”
