147. Why Is Your Face Red?

Lin Nan’s nerves, which had finally relaxed after the medical exam, snapped back to attention like a tightrope, awkwardly glancing at Liu Xuefei outside the door.
Liu Xuefei was about to say something, but after casting a glance at her classmates beside her, she realized this wasn’t the conversation zone. Instead, she grabbed Lin Nan’s wrist and pulled her away.
“I knew something was off! You are definitely a girl!” As they walked, she smiled cheekily while inspecting Lin Nan. “It’s only been a few days, but you look way prettier!”
Her skill tree was fully invested in makeup, and after just a quick glance at Lin Nan, she spotted some subtle changes.
Lin Nan’s eyes seemed a smidge bigger than when they last met, her facial features were softer, and her shoulders looked a bit narrower, making her appear more delicate and dainty.
She could hardly believe the memories she had, considering normal adults don’t have significant skeletal changes.
After dragging Lin Nan to the bathroom entrance, where the coast was clear, Liu Xuefei finally stopped, crossed her arms, and asked with interest, “So you are a girl! But why are you living in the boys’ dorm? This isn’t some anime or novel; you can’t just say you were raised as a girl since childhood!”
Lin Nan peeked back the way they came; that idiot Chen Yao probably hadn’t noticed his roommate had been abducted yet. With no one to rescue him, her mind raced, trying to concoct a barely acceptable excuse.
“I can see from your face that you’re trying to pull a fast one on me,” Liu Xuefei rolled her eyes but was merely curious and not nosy enough to meddle in someone else’s life.
Though she was a bit disappointed that Lin Nan wouldn’t satisfy her curiosity, Liu Xuefei didn’t want to be the nosy gossip. Reluctantly, she compromised, “Anyway, your secret will come out sooner or later, and even if you don’t want to say it, you will!”
With her face flushed and unsure how to react, Lin Nan could only let out a goofy chuckle to evade the situation.
Lin Nan had originally wanted to ask Liu Xuefei about her progress with Uncle when they met again, but she didn’t expect it to turn out this way.
After Liu Xuefei left, Lin Nan went back to Chen Yao to continue her medical exam.
Aside from the more sensitive internal check-ups, there was no further physical contact with the doctor during the other exams, and nothing embarrassing came up. Lin Nan quickly finished the exam, turned in her results, and went back to the dorm.
Due to Lin Nan’s delay, when they returned, Tu Junhui and Xiong Da were already glued to their computers playing games.
Now that the medical exam was out of the way, Lin Nan felt that the only hurdle left was transitioning into a female.
November had just begun, so she had a little over two months to prepare. During this time, she needed to master some magic spells to transform into a girl, and if possible, seek Li Na’s help to officially change her female identity.
That way, she could proudly tell her mother that she had become a girl through legitimate means without worrying about borrowing money anymore.
Li Na said she would be back in a week, likely this weekend, so Lin Nan planned to ask her for updates. If all else failed, she would have to consider surgery in the end.
Surgery felt a bit off to Lin Nan, like it catapulted her into the realm of being a transgender person, which was technically true.
Sitting in front of the computer, she somewhat planned her tasks for the upcoming time frame, and her spirits instantly lifted. Although not exactly an optimist, she didn’t want to dwell on gender issues every day.
“Chen Yao! Wanna duo queue? I want to practice top lane!” She turned to Chen Yao, who had just washed his face and was heading to the closet.
Chen Yao opened his wardrobe and pulled out his jersey, shaking his head, “I have to go train soon; we have a match tonight. I’ll duo when I’m back, okay?”
“You’re not playing AD anymore?”
“Playing AD is a joke! Last time, I was about to go godlike, and I got one-shotted by a 0/3 Riven. I’m switching to jungle!”
As he cursed, Chen Yao took off his shirt and pants to get into his jersey. But when he turned around, he caught Lin Nan’s gaze and instantly flushed red.
How did I forget she was here? Chatting about games made me slip back into thinking of her like before.
Feeling it a bit too obvious to head to the bathroom to change now, he cleared his throat and tried to change into his jersey as quickly as possible.
“Chen Yao, how do you get those muscles?” Lin Nan exclaimed, plopping down in a chair and scooting it closer to him like she was riding a horse, her curiosity bubbling. “I’ve never seen you work out!”
“Just comes from playing ball,” Chen Yao replied, glancing at his abdomen. He didn’t actually have much of a six-pack, just a hint of some abs.
When he looked up, he found Lin Nan had shuffled her chair right in front of him, her flushed cheeks dangerously close to his lower region.
He froze, random ecchi scenarios flashing in his mind, and before he could react, Lin Nan’s hand was on his stomach, looking enviously, “When will I have abs like that?”
Hold up! Can you not just touch randomly?
Her hand, soft and a bit warm, rested on his belly, gently rubbing…
Who’s going to take responsibility for this fire being lit?!
Chen Yao stumbled back a couple of steps, his face a mixture of shock and horror, much like a startled wife being teased.
Xiong Da, who was in the middle of gaming with headphones on, turned around, only to see Lin Nan’s slightly red yet excited face and Chen Yao’s terrified expression. He looked back and forth, raising an eyebrow, “You two aren’t hiding some juicy gossip behind our backs, are you?”
“What? Juicy gossip?!” Tu Junhui perked up at the mention of that phrase.
Chen Yao frantically pulled his jersey over his head, while Lin Nan stood her ground, completely unfazed, “Who knew Chen Yao would react so much? I only touched him a tiny bit!”
“Then it’s definitely Chen Yao who’s been teasing Nan Nan!” Tu Junhui fumed. “I haven’t even teased anyone!”
“Shut it!” Chen Yao finally had his clothes on, his expression back to normal, glaring at Tu Junhui before turning to Xiong Da, “Your teammates are all MIA, and you’re staring at me?”
“Wait, what?” Xiong Da muttered under his breath, quickly returning to his game.
Once he’d waved off his two roommates, Chen Yao looked down at Lin Nan, who was still blushing fiercely, and said, “You know right now you look like a typical anime female lead?”
“Really?” Lin Nan exclaimed, confused about where she went wrong.
“Why is your face red?”
“???”
Lin Nan completely didn’t realize she was blushing; she thought she was just amazed by Chen Yao’s physique and curiously touching it.
Isn’t that pretty normal in a boys’ dorm? Tu Junhui often touches Chen Yao’s belly in envy, and Xiong Da occasionally pulls Tu Junhui’s hair, admiring his lush locks.
It must be Lilith’s fault! She was just admiring muscles, and now, blushing might look indecent to Chen Yao?
Suddenly connecting the dots, a wave of intense embarrassment surged through Lin Nan, making her head spin like a train’s whistle, and after a dizzying moment, she grabbed her chair and bolted.
