154. Maid Lilith
==============================
Let’s be real, there’s no way I’m ever wearing a maid outfit to work. That’ll never happen in this lifetime!
Just thinking about squeezing myself into that slightly revealing outfit and calling customers “master”… Lin Nan shudders. Even if that café offers a ridiculously high paycheck, he’s totally not interested.
But curious? Oh, absolutely! He’s dying to check out what those so-called maid cafés are all about.
Still, it’s just a thought. Honestly, coffee shops can be a bit pricey—twenty or even thirty bucks for a cup—and considering it’s a maid café, there’s probably a service markup too. Better off grabbing bubble tea to go; the ones near school are only around seven or eight bucks.
One weekend, after an all-nighter, Lin Nan found himself utterly uninterested in games. He plopped down in front of his computer, aimlessly searching for a movie to k*ll some afternoon time.
Ever since Xiong Da left, the dorm felt a tad quieter. Generally a ghost in their gaming sessions, the absence of his shenanigans had definitely made an impact—especially on Tu Junhui, who had suddenly become unnervingly quiet.
Without the usual noise, the dorm was starting to feel a bit boring.
“Hey, how about we check out that maid café?” Lin Nan threw the suggestion into the air.
Chen Yao’s eyes lit up. “Are you thinking of becoming a maid there?!”
Yeah, right…
With a dark expression, Lin Nan shook his head. “Nah, just wanna see if those maids are cute.”
“If you guys are talking about that, I’m definitely not feeling sleepy anymore.” Tu Junhui turned around and raised his hand. “I want in too! Take me with you!”
Lin Nan had never been to a coffee shop, let alone a maid café, but he’d heard Japan has quite a few—albeit with some male maids too.
He’s not interested in being a maid yelling “master” at customers, but being called “master” by a maid? Now that piques his interest!
The trio quickly agreed, with Lin Nan anticipating a painful dent in his wallet as he happily followed his roommates toward the back of the school.
Maid cafés are something most people only hear about through rumors. Now that there’s one opened near campus, students were practically buzzing with excitement about it. Today was the grand opening, and with a 30% discount, the place was set to be swamped!
From a distance, Lin Nan spotted the café—a line of eager customers stretched out onto the street, nearly causing a traffic jam!
“Whoa, that’s way too many people!” Lin Nan felt a pang of anxiety. He’s not a fan of crowded places.
But still, he faced his fears and fell in line with Chen Yao and Tu Junhui. Unlike the “zombie horde” in the cafeteria, these students displayed some semblance of order outside, standing spaced apart enough to ease Lin Nan’s worries.
If it were a cafeteria crowd, he’d definitely be staying far away.
“I bet you’d look amazing in a maid outfit,” Tu Junhui teased as they waited. “You wouldn’t look bad, maybe even prettier than the maids there!”
Though they hadn’t seen the maids yet, Chen Yao chimed in, “Absolutely! Lin Nan would rock that maid outfit!”
He remembered how Lin Nan looked when he first transformed—with a bit of magic sprinkled in—and even back then, he was definitely more charming than he is now.
But Chen Yao still couldn’t wrap his head around how Lin Nan had suddenly grown long hair and… well, you know, br*asts in just ten minutes without leaving behind a wig and breastplate.
Was Lin Nan just good at hiding it, or had some magical growth spurt kicked in?
He glanced back, noticing Lin Nan’s fidgety demeanor in the line. Clearly, the crowd was stressing him out.
So, Chen Yao switched places with Tu Junhui, trying to shield Lin Nan from the prying eyes of passersby with his taller frame.
After all, they were in line, and while Lin Nan isn’t internet-famous, he was somewhat known around school. A couple of classmates started murmuring and whispering when they recognized him.
Nothing too harsh, but hearing them speculate about his gender was enough to make Lin Nan squirm.
“Can’t even tell he’s a guy!”
“No way! I thought he was a girl!”
“I heard he’s even got a girlfriend.”
“Will his girlfriend get jealous if he’s involved in a yuri thing?”
Their hushed gossip made Lin Nan want to yell, “I’m a straight guy!” but looking down at his chest made that a bit harder to pull off.
He was stuck trying to blend in behind Chen Yao, awkwardly pretending to check his phone like he was shielding himself from the sun.
After slowly inching forward in line for about half an hour, Lin Nan and his friends finally stepped inside the café.
They settled into a four-person table by the window, made up of two cozy sofas that blocked out most of the stares. Lin Nan felt a bit more at ease and began to casually look around.
“Whoa! That girl! Those long legs in black stockings!” Tu Junhui’s eyes lit up as he pointed at a maid who was at least 5’7″. “That one! Taller than Nan Nan!”
Lin Nan followed his gaze, staring slack-jawed at the maid approaching them with a totally blank expression, holding a menu. She bowed slightly, saying, “Welcome, masters!”
Lin Nan felt a surge of horror; Chen Yao and Tu Junhui, while slightly embarrassed, felt like kids who just spotted their crush.
What if Lin Nan called her that too…?
Chen Yao quickly shook off that thought. “Um, just three coffees, please!”
He stole a quick glance at Tu Junhui, who was staring shamelessly at the maid’s long legs while Lin Nan’s face was ghostly pale as he slouched down, seemingly horrified by something.
Confused, Chen Yao watched the maid’s icy demeanor as she bowed again and said, “Please wait a moment, masters.”
Wow, talk about an ice princess!
This maid had long, sleek black hair, a curvy figure that would make models jealous, and a face that was absolutely stunning. Her long, slender legs were the kind that could grace a runway; she looked fragile yet full of vitality—just the icy stare didn’t quite fit.
In ancient times, she’d be a national treasure, right? Nowadays, she’d be da bomb as an actress or social media star. So why on earth is she here working as a maid?
But something about her face seemed eerily familiar to Lin Nan’s.
Chen Yao eyed the maid’s retreating figure and suddenly noticed some commotion at a neighboring table. After observing closely, it struck him that the maids in the café didn’t actually address customers as “masters.”
“That maid kinda looks like you,” Tu Junhui said with a hint of disappointment once she walked away. “She wouldn’t be your sister or something, right?”
“No way, she’s got nothing to do with me…”
Lin Nan looked down, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
If Lilith ever found out her body once served as a maid, calling a bunch of people “master,” would she go after Li Na?
If those two ever clashed, would it erupt into a “nuclear bomb” level showdown?
