### 027. Is This a Date?
==============================
Normally, dorms don’t allow pets.
But as long as you hide them during inspections, it’s fine. If there’s a health check led by school officials, just sneak the cat out for a bit.
So, overall, it’s not a big deal if you want to pull it off.
Lin Nan crouched down with a grin, teasing a little black kitten. Although the kitten’s tail was mysteriously broken, it seemed pretty lively, wobbling towards Lin Nan’s fingers but ultimately just flopped and rolled on the ground.
The kitten’s adorable antics melted Lin Nan’s heart.
“Hey Tu Tu, give it a name!” he exclaimed, picking up the kitten and bouncing over to Tu Junhui.
“I think ‘Little Black’ works just fine,” Tu Junhui replied nonchalantly, not much of a cat fan himself.
“How lazy of you…” Lin Nan pouted in discontent, but quickly regained his composure.
Xiong Da, overhearing this, suggested, “How about calling it Cola? It’s black anyway.”
Lin Nan wasn’t really good at naming things either, so he felt this name was acceptable, not ugly at all, and he gladly accepted the idea: “Sure!”
He crouched down again and seriously said to the curious kitten, which was sniffing around his shoes, “From now on, you shall be called Cola!”
Not getting a response from the kitten, Lin Nan shrugged it off, assuming the little guy had silently agreed.
He rummaged through the wardrobe and found an old shoebox, taking out a pair of sneakers to make space. Then he hesitated, “Do you guys have any clothes you don’t wear?”
Seeing both shake their heads, he reluctantly turned to his own closet.
Lin Nan didn’t have many clothes—just three outfits for summer and two sweaters plus a thin and a thick jacket for winter—so there was hardly anything extra to keep Cola warm.
Just then, the door swung open, and Lin Yuan walked in with a slightly worn turtleneck sweater: “I don’t wear this anymore. You can use it for the kitty.”
“How do you think of everything?” Lin Nan was baffled by the timely gesture.
He looked up at the air conditioner’s indicator light. “You set the AC too low. This tiny kitten needs to stay warm.”
Lin Yuan shattered Lin Nan’s impression of him as a quiet thug he avoided engaging with. After interacting in class earlier, Lin Nan thought he was just a reserved introvert like Xiong Da, but now, he appeared quite caring and attentive.
“Could you watch the kitten for me while I run to the supermarket to buy some goat milk?”
“Don’t worry.”
Lin Yuan nodded emotionlessly. But for some reason, his assurance felt much more convincing than Tu Junhui’s after knowing him for a year.
Lin Nan couldn’t help but sh**t a glare at Tu Junhui’s back. It wasn’t that he was untrustworthy, but he just loved running his mouth so much, it was hard to take him seriously.
By the way, with Lin Yuan’s personality and his looks as the class heartthrob, he must have a fair number of girls chasing him, right?
Lin Nan thought so, but he had never seen Lin Yuan interact with girls, or even speak to them. Whenever he noticed Lin Yuan, he was usually engrossed in his own world, which made Lin Nan wonder if he had some kind of depression.
Grabbing his phone, Lin Nan stepped out of the dorm, only to immediately regret it.
He had forgotten that there was a creep watching him on campus.
Sure enough, as he exited the massive glass doors of the dorm, that familiar heart-racing sensation and piercing gaze met him. Following that gaze, he spotted Li Na sitting on a flowerbed outside the dorm, tilting her head to watch him.
“What the hell…” Lin Nan thought to himself but couldn’t decide whether to voice his frustrations. He just turned and walked toward the direction of the campus supermarket.
Soon, he heard her footsteps trailing behind him.
“Lilith? Why are you ignoring me?”
“I’m not Lilith, and besides, Lilith doesn’t like you,” Lin Nan replied blankly. “I’m Lin Nan, don’t call me Lilith.”
Li Na took a step closer, and Lin Nan hurriedly quickened his pace to maintain distance, terrified of being kidnapped again.
If it weren’t for her looks, he would have called the cops already…
He sneaked a glance at Li Na. Although people would typically think he and a girl walking together might be a couple, with Li Na, he was pretty sure passersby would assume they were just besties.
During lunch, Lin Nan had reviewed his memories related to Li Na and found that most were from their childhood. They were once neighbors and friends. Perhaps back then, when they were too young to understand love, Little Lilith promised Li Na something akin to a romantic declaration.
Then they went their separate ways, and Lilith had long forgotten about it, while it seemed Li Na remembered it vividly, following Lilith’s path relentlessly as a Saintess, trying to pull the now-witch back on track. But by then, Lilith was too lost in her chaos to remember.
They had crossed swords a few times on the battlefield after that, but the relevant memories ended there.
In reality, Li Na didn’t mean that much to Lilith, but for some reason, Li Na held onto those childhood memories.
Maybe Lilith was just an ungrateful version of Sasuke?
Also, if memory serves, this girl didn’t seem to have killed anyone.
Lin Nan felt a wave of relief, viewing her as merely an extreme admirer. Originally, he thought everyone from another world chasing after him might be a violent maniac. One kidnapping had already made him lose half his life!
“Where are you headed?” Li Na skipped along behind him.
“Supermarket.”
Despite being of similar height, Lin Nan had the advantage of slightly longer legs than this Saintess.
If he was honest, probably even thinner too…
Lin Nan quickly cut off that train of thought; where did the idea of comparing legs with a girl even come from?
The campus supermarket was in the heart of the dorm complex—a fairly large two-story supermarket.
However, since Lin Nan’s dorm was on the edge of the cluster, he still had to walk ten minutes to reach it, and surprisingly, Li Na didn’t chatter away like she had in the morning, nor did she cling to him like an accessory.
Since it was class time, there weren’t many people around the supermarket, leaving the cashier to play with their phone.
Lin Nan usually only visited at the beginning of each semester to stock up on essentials. For daily hydration, he’d use his kettle, and there was also a vending machine downstairs for drinks.
“Nan Nan.” Li Na suddenly picked up her pace to walk alongside him, giving him a peculiar look without saying much more.
Lin Nan was baffled by the attention and fidgeted awkwardly, “What’s up? Oh right, don’t you have class this afternoon?”
“Is this what you’d call a date?!” she asked, meeting Lin Nan’s eyes earnestly.
“???”
