295. Now I’m Interested!
==============================
With no classes in the afternoon, Lin Nan and Chen Yao finished lunch and decided to catch up on sleep in their rental apartment.
They had been lazing around at home for the past few months. Sure, they had online classes every day, but let’s be honest, it was just online classes. There were plenty of ways to slack off.
This had resulted in their biological clocks going haywire. Lin Nan had only slept for less than four hours last night. After mustering enough energy to attend class in the morning, once they got back to the apartment, she flopped onto the bed. She originally wanted to watch a video on her phone, but less than a minute later, the device slipped from her grasp and landed smack on her face.
But she couldn’t care less. Rubbing her sore nose, she set her phone aside and rolled over, her breathing quickly evening out.
Meanwhile, Chen Yao noticed the empty space on the bed beside her and his imagination kicked into high gear. Without hesitation, he stripped off his jacket and shoes and lay down right next to her.
The last time they shared a bed was during the Lantern Festival. Though he visited Lin Nan every few days, he never had the chance to stay overnight, especially since she never suggested it.
It had been about two months since they shared a bed, and just lying there made Chen Yao’s heart race.
As he lay flat, he cast a glance at Lin Nan’s back and could vaguely see the outline of her bra beneath her thin long sleeves.
The lingering scent of milk surrounding him felt like some kind of intoxicating stimulus, and Chen Yao’s body couldn’t help but react.
He flipped over, cautiously placing his hand on Lin Nan’s waist, inching closer until he could completely pull her into his embrace.
Wait, he was just hugging her a little! Why was he reacting so intensely?
That sweet scent was like a performance-enhancing drug, sending his body into a frenzy.
Chen Yao took a deep breath, trying to control the wild thoughts spinning around in his head. The thought stopped, but his body didn’t get the memo.
It was definitely better to just sleep on the couch.
Darn it, all because Lin Nan deleted those resources he had saved for years.
With a long sigh, he reluctantly released Lin Nan, got up, and headed to the living room couch, casually closing the bedroom door behind him. But as he looked up, he saw Cola’s teasing gaze.
“Geez, even the cat’s mocking me for being a coward,” he muttered, flopping onto the couch and struggling to find a comfortable position before shutting his eyes, ready to catch some Z’s.
And he knocked out from 1 PM all the way to 7 PM!
Lin Nan woke up to the sound of running water.
She groggily opened her eyes, her head still a bit fuzzy from oversleeping.
Turning in the direction of the sound, she saw Chen Yao in the glass-walled bathroom, doing his business, which offered zero privacy. She got a full view!
Had he grown quite a bit since middle school?
Despite having been a guy once, seeing this now, in her female form, made her feel inexplicably shy. She composed herself, pretending not to look, and quickly rolled over, turning her back to Chen Yao.
But she couldn’t resist grabbing her phone to check the time.
Then she nearly shot up: “Oh no! How did I sleep until 7 PM?!”
“sh*t, when did you wake up?”
The shock made Chen Yao lose his stream of thought.
“You woke me up,” Lin Nan replied, pretending to be clueless as she turned back to him. “Why are you in the bathroom?”
“Just needed to go! Didn’t mean to give you a scare,” he complained, scratching his head as he left the bathroom. “Who designed this? Why put the bathroom in the bedroom?”
“Maybe it was originally a two-bedroom apartment? They just threw up a wall?” Lin Nan casually conjectured.
The bedroom was actually about the same size as a normal one, but the living room was clearly a fraction smaller. Lin Nan suspected that combining the other rental apartment next door might have been the original design.
It was already evening, so the two of them headed out for dinner. With nothing to do afterward, they strolled into school, planning to take a walk.
With the new semester just starting, there wasn’t much homework to speak of, nor any activities going on. They found themselves incredibly bored, but as they reached the basketball court by the dorms, Chen Yao suddenly felt the itch to play.
He hadn’t touched a basketball during his months at home.
“How about I go sh**t some hoops?”
“Suit yourself. I’ll watch from the sidelines.”
Lin Nan had no interest in basketball. She followed Chen Yao into the court, found a nearby seat, and pulled out her phone to watch videos.
Just as she settled in, a carefree figure strolled up. “Lin Nan? You’re looking more like a woman every day!”
Glancing up, she recognized it was the tall and lanky Dong An.
“Ew, as if you’re qualified to judge,” she replied, ignoring him as she crossed her legs and focused on her phone.
“Wait, you’re not telling me you were actually a girl all along?” He stepped closer, curious about Lin Nan’s noticeable changes.
Although she was in loose boy’s clothes with a jacket on, Dong An could still see the rise and fall at Lin Nan’s chest. He frowned, feeling this was borderline inappropriate.
“Or am I just supposed to tell you that you’ve become trashy? Is that what you’ll give up on life for?”
“Creep.”
Lin Nan hadn’t run into Dong An much after the National Day holiday last semester, and seeing him again made her feel like a whole new person had appeared.
He wanted to sit next to Lin Nan, but reconsidering, he decided she was way too strange, so he headed over to Chen Yao, putting Lin Nan out of his mind.
Lin Nan rolled her eyes silently. Sure, Dong An was a friend of Chen Yao, but she had zero feelings for him.
As she glanced at the court, her gaze unexpectedly caught a girl on the opposite side who was watching Chen Yao.
Was that… Dong An’s sister? Didn’t she see her before?
The one who once wanted to go on a date with Chen Yao, the big-chested airhead!
How had she forgotten her name?
Feeling suddenly alert, Lin Nan squinted at the girl, but across an entire court, the girl didn’t notice her at all.
A few minutes passed, and the girl stood up and walked over to Chen Yao and Dong An, chatting and laughing for a moment before joining them. Clumsy as a toddler, she began trying to sh**t hoops, with Chen Yao and Dong An around to give pointers and help retrieve the balls.
And that girl had the skills of a total beginner, barely grazing the hoop from the three-point line but hollering obnoxiously every time, as if she were having the time of her life.
Lin Nan’s face turned red with anger.
That shameless woman!
Without a moment’s hesitation, she stood up and walked straight over, declaring, “I want to play too!”
Chen Yao was taken aback, turning to her, “But you said you weren’t interested in basketball?”
“Well, now I am!”
