298. Sneaky and Stimulating?

One silent night.
Lin Nan had the best sleep of her life last night.
Being held in someone’s arms while sleeping filled her with a sense of security; she actually dozed off without a care in the world.
But Chen Yao, on the other hand, didn’t fall asleep until the early hours. After all, he’s hot-blooded and young, and sleeping next to his girlfriend without anything happening made him feel a bit cowardly, to be honest.
However, around six in the morning, he woke up again.
The girl in his arms still breathed evenly, her faint fragrance filling the air, and he could feel the softness of her skin.
Um, for some inexplicable reason, his hand that should have been resting on Lin Nan’s waist mysteriously wandered to places it shouldn’t be.
He worried she might get mad at his daring move, but luckily Lin Nan was still fast asleep, seemingly unaware of the situation.
He got up carefully. His eyes were still sore and tired, his brain foggy from lack of sleep. Sitting at the edge of the bed, he sighed, suddenly realizing that this situation was quite torturous for a guy.
He looked down at Lin Nan’s charming face. He’d seen this face almost every day since middle school, yet he adored it more with every glance.
Lin Nan wasn’t the kind of girl who would bring a kingdom to its knees, but her almost flawless face was mesmerizing; the more he looked, the deeper he fell.
Maybe it was the sleepiness, or maybe it was her pretty face enchanting him, but Chen Yao found himself leaning down slightly and stealing a peck on Lin Nan’s cheek.
A normal person’s face might have some light fuzz, but Lin Nan’s skin appeared almost flawless, even up close.
The softness of her cheek made Chen Yao freeze for a moment, and then, emboldened by an uncontrollable urge, he got bolder.
Just then, Lin Nan, who had been sleeping on her side all night, suddenly rolled over. Chen Yao’s heart jumped, but after a moment, he realized she didn’t seem to wake up.
He noticed Lin Nan’s brows; he had looked at them many times before, but back then, even in her sleep, her brows would be furrowed, her expression a bit troubled. Today, however, her brows were relaxed, her face serene, and her lips curled into a slight smile, as if she was having a good dream.
Chen Yao’s gaze uncontrollably fell on Lin Nan’s cherry-red lips.
It felt like his body had a mind of its own, and as if his hand turned to jelly, he found himself leaning in closer, their lips finally meeting.
It was his second kiss with Lin Nan.
The first had been a mere brush, but this time, his lower half seemed to take control, and he couldn’t help but want to pry her lips open.
Then… he saw Lin Nan’s eyes pop open.
“????”
Lin Nan looked utterly bewildered, and Chen Yao was equally stunned for a second. Rather than backpedal, he dove right in, pinning her down, only to receive a swift uppercut from Lin Nan, who was not so pleased about being woken up.
“Whoa!”
Chen Yao clutched his jaw as he rolled off to the side.
Lin Nan was still in a daze, staring confusedly at Chen Yao, who had just tumbled out of bed. She scratched her messy hair, “What the heck are you doing so early in the morning?”
As soon as she said this, the memory of what Chen Yao had done came flooding back, and her cheeks instantly turned crimson.
“Nothing, nothing at all!” Chen Yao stammered, feeling like he might bite his own tongue in embarrassment and guilt.
“Nothing, huh…” Lin Nan touched her lips, fighting to maintain her composure, her flushed face showing her discontent, “Why are you being weird so early in the morning?”
She then glanced at her sore fist, and with a feigned calmness, she shifted the blame, “Why did you hit my hand?!”
“Yeah, yeah, my chin hit your fist!” Chen Yao shook his head, bemused, sitting on the floor and rubbing his chin.
Seeing his ridiculous expression, Lin Nan felt a twinge of guilt. “Does it hurt?”
“Not at all!”
Since it was all his fault anyway.
Chen Yao let out a long sigh, stood up, and headed toward the bathroom to wash up, his tongue still stinging from the earlier mishap.
He glanced at Lin Nan’s expression; clearly, she didn’t seem angry, and there was even a hint of shyness and guilt on her face.
If only he had kissed her while she was awake.
Why did he have to be so reckless?
After washing up, Chen Yao grabbed a coat from the nightstand and asked Lin Nan, “What do you want for breakfast? I’ll go buy it for you.”
“It’s barely past six. Can’t I sleep a little more?” Lin Nan glanced at the time and shifted over, making space on the bed.
Well, since she said that…
Chen Yao unhesitatingly tossed his coat aside and plopped back down at the head of the bed. Yet, looking at Lin Nan’s face, he suddenly felt the pain in his jaw and tongue spike again.
He had never seen Lin Nan so violent before.
Lin Nan sneakily glanced at Chen Yao, muttering an apology, “You know I get really cranky in the morning… and you just had to mess with me while I was sleeping and wake me up.”
“So you mean it’s only okay if I do it when you’re awake?” Chen Yao’s eyes lit up.
“That’s still not okay!” Lin Nan, embarrassed and annoyed, hurled a pillow at him, then turned her back to him, humming, “No way!”
“Come on, I’m a normal guy…” Chen Yao sighed heavily, “I might just end up sleeping on the sofa from now on. Sharing the bed with you is unbearable.”
“Mm,” Lin Nan replied softly.
“I’m off to get you breakfast. If there’s time when I come back, you can sleep some more.”
Though Lin Nan’s punch wasn’t hard, getting hit on the chin unprepared, and accidentally biting his own tongue had effectively erased any remnants of sleep from Chen Yao.
He wasn’t even sure if he had bitten his tongue open.
He looked at Lin Nan’s back, scratching his head, perplexed about what she was thinking.
She often hinted and purposefully teased him, but when he was ready to act, she’d just get shy.
Is that how girls are?
Chen Yao pulled on his coat, sighing as he left the rental apartment, heading down to get Lin Nan some of her favorite breakfast.
Upon hearing him leave, Lin Nan buried her head deep in her pillow, making some frantic groundhog sounds.
“Ahhh!!!”
“Am I being a bit too much?!”
She twisted in bed, pulling the covers over her head, “I hope Chen Yao isn’t mad…”
“We’ve been together for months, and I hit him for just kissing me…” Lin Nan abruptly froze, lying flat, her hands covering her burning cheeks, “He could just come out and say it rather than sneak around like a thief…”
“But it really is nice to sleep while being cuddled by Chen Yao… If he sleeps on the sofa… huh, am I being a bit too harsh? After all, he’s a man and not some eunuch.”
Lin Nan suddenly put herself in Chen Yao’s shoes, muttering to herself, “Maybe he thinks sneaking around is more thrilling?”
“Ahhh!!!”
