I Don’t Want to Be Turned into a Girl by Magic – Chapter 326

330. The Great Lin Nan!

==============================

Even though the pandemic in the country was nearly over, Chen Yao’s cold had still caught the school’s attention.

As a result, Chen Yao didn’t have to attend class until he got better.

Seizing the chance while Lin Nan was in class on Tuesday, he donned a raincoat and set off to the nearby hospital for a check-up, but unsurprisingly, they didn’t find any virus.

However, by Wednesday, after continuously taking medication, his cold and fever had only gotten worse.

Lin Nan sat in the classroom, frowning, resting her chin on one hand and staring blankly at the blackboard. She simply couldn’t muster the energy to use magic to quickly memorize the lesson.

Beside her, her two roommates were completely engrossed in their game. Two days had passed, and the hero team they had assembled was long done, and now they were busy tackling a desert camel.

Lin Nan had zero interest in such brain-twisting puzzles and watched her roommates with a mix of envy and annoyance.

“What’s with the long face?” Xiong Da asked, glancing between Lin Nan and Tu Junhui, who was deep in gaming strategy. “Is Chen Yao still sick?”

“Yeah, it’s actually getting worse,” Lin Nan replied with a bitter smile and a nod.

“You might want to find somewhere else to stay for a few days, just in case you catch it too,” Xiong Da suggested.

But then who would take care of Chen Yao?

Lin Nan considered the idea, nodded in thought, and immediately forgot all about it.

She glanced outside at the still gloomy sky. Though the heavy rain had stopped, the sky remained dreary, which only darkened her already low spirits.

Xiong Da quickly noticed Lin Nan was tuning out his advice, but he dismissed it and continued, “It’s just a little cold.”

“Should be,” she muttered.

Lin Nan slumped her head onto the desk, her face serious as she stared out the window. After a moment, she couldn’t sit still any longer and shot a worried glance at the teacher up front.

The teacher was glued to the computer, controlling the slides, completely oblivious to the students.

“I’m sneaking out. When they take attendance, cover for me, and keep playing the game,” she whispered, edging away from Xiong Da.

“Sure.”

With that confirmation, Lin Nan seized the moment and bolted out the back door.

During class, the corridor in the teaching building was almost deserted, with only a few students sneaking out like her.

She contemplated stopping by a pharmacy to pick up different cold medicine, since the prescriptions she’d gotten from the rental apartment and hospital weren’t effective at all; in fact, they seemed to have worsened Chen Yao’s symptoms.

Though there was still standing water on the ground, students were already playing basketball on the playground. Lin Nan looked up at the sky, feeling like she had forgotten something.

Oh right… she forgot to take an umbrella!

She had probably lost five or six umbrellas over the years.

Maybe she should get a magic spell to cure sickness.

She had searched through Lilith’s memories last night, but even though Lilith was a three-hundred-year-old witch, she conveniently had never learned healing spells—kind of like how Li Na wasn’t exactly a champ at soul magic and had returned from another world with a pile of books.

Looks like she’d need to seek Li Na’s help.

Lin Nan typed a quick message to Li Na and, moments later, received an affirmative reply. So, she halted in her tracks and stood still.

“What are you daydreaming about?”

She turned around to see Li Na standing right behind her, clutching a Sprite.

This girl always materialized out of nowhere.

“I don’t see you looking sick. It’s Chen Yao who’s unwell, right?” Li Na asked, her big eyes full of curiosity.

“Yeah, it’s pretty serious.” Lin Nan replied, frowning. “I hope this time we can cure him, but what if he gets something incurable next time…”

Life and d*ath are common themes for humans, but Lin Nan really didn’t want either she or Chen Yao to unexpectedly kick the bucket, especially since being sick is no picnic.

Since she could use magic, at the very least, she wanted to protect the people around her.

Before, she used magic for money and convenience—so terribly mundane. But now it had turned into a means of safeguarding her friends.

Sacrificing her own pride and limits to protect her family.

Lin Nan realized she was becoming quite great! So proud, right? Pride emoji

Although it felt a bit shameful, it was also thrilling—probably a feeling passed down from Lilith.

Darn you, Lilith.

“I want you to teach me a healing spell… At least then my friends won’t easily drop dead,” Lin Nan blurted out, revealing her true intentions. “And can you also throw in that tutoring magic you use?”

Li Na’s lips twitched; she was not surprised at all.

Her eyes spun like a hamster wheel a few times.

“First, you need to do me a favor!” she said with a grin.

Lin Nan steeled herself, ready to break her limits of embarrassment: “Okay!”

“Be my clothes rack!”

Clothes rack?

Lin Nan was momentarily taken aback, completely clueless.

“I bought so many clothes! But Lilith is too tall to wear them! So you have to wear them!” Li Na beamed, patting Lin Nan on the shoulder. “You’ll look fabulous in them and they’ll fit perfectly! Plus, you should go out and get other people’s opinions!”

Suddenly, Lin Nan remembered that short skirt from back then.

That was when she first wore a short skirt, put on makeup, and went out in women’s clothing.

Utterly cringe-worthy.

“Earth clothes are so fashionable! I need to pick out more, tweak them a little, design some, and when I get back, I’ll be a fashion designer!” Li Na mused, overflowing with enthusiasm. “By the time short skirts take over the world, I, as a Saintess, can wear them without a care!”

“And what does that have to do with me being your clothes rack?”

“How doesn’t it? Of course, I’ll pick out the prettiest styles to bring back!” Li Na continued, giving Lin Nan a reassuring pat on the shoulder, “As a Saintess, it’s my duty to make the world more enlightened! Starting with clothing!”

In that other world, the fashion was still stuck in a sort of medieval state.

Lin Nan’s face darkened a bit. But upon contemplation, aside from short skirts, there weren’t that many embarrassing outfits in the daily wear. She had already worn the most cringe-worthy of them all; everything else seemed pretty tame…

Unless this girl decided to throw in some cosplay costumes.

There was a real possibility of that happening, wasn’t there?

“I’ll teach you two spells! Just as long as you’re my clothes rack,” Li Na pressed on, spotting Lin Nan’s face wavering at her request. “One will boost your immunity, enhancing your immune system to wipe out harmful bacteria and viruses! If your magic power is strong enough, you might even take down cancer cells! Interested?”

Lin Nan’s eyes lit up; she nodded vigorously.

“And another will infuse your voice with magic, ensuring that students unknowingly remember everything you say during class… Though it’s nowhere near as good as my spell, it’s still great for teaching! Perfect for you!”

Now that sounded way more interesting!
