“I told you, you need to improve this magic!”
In the afternoon, Lin Nan stormed into Li Na’s rental apartment, sulking as she sat at the edge of the bed. “I suspect you’re the mastermind behind this mess.”
“Mastermind? Do I look like that kind of person?” Li Na casually tossed a stack of papers at Lin Nan. “Here’s the basic theory, just take a look.”
“Do I really need to study theory to learn magic? I never did before…”
“Back then, the magic you unlocked was engraved in your soul, thanks to Lilith! She helped you learn it all, okay?” Li Na leaned over her desk, a pale yellow glowing orb occasionally appearing in her left hand, while her right furiously scribbled on paper.
“So why is it that the moment I want to learn healing magic, my grandfather just happens to get sick…”
Lin Nan glared at the pile of papers. Fortunately, she had skimmed through similar material in Lilith’s memories before; although it was a bit tough to grasp, she could still make some sense of it.
Now she actually had to learn magic herself.
Beside her, Lilith sat cross-legged on the bed in her pajamas, playing on her phone. She turned to Li Na with a confused expression. “Did you really go after her grandfather?”
“I’m not that kind of person!” Li Na replied, throwing a pen that hit Lilith right in the forehead.
She continued her scribbling, throwing shade at both of them: “Lilith, you’re the one who pulls this kind of stuff! And Lin Nan, have you been reading too many novels? I am a saintess, okay?”
“In novels, saintesses usually turn out to be evil…”
“Right, right! It’s the witches who are the good ones!” Lilith straightened up, grinning proudly. “The authors on Earth really know their stuff, everyone’s so knowledgeable!”
Although Lilith indeed caused chaos and lived it up every night, if you looked at it from another angle, she was actually quite the hero. She led the charge against feudal society and was the vanguard of the anti-aristocracy movement, plus she didn’t go around randomly killing people; the civilians in her territory were doing just fine—well, aside from her questionable private antics.
Lin Nan shot an odd glance at the flat-chested girl with her whimsical ideas.
“Alright, it’s solved! Now the magic not only stimulates the immune system but also protects the body, making it way less dangerous!” Li Na slammed her hand on the desk, nearly causing Lin Nan to fall off her seat.
“Who knows if our world even has viruses and bacteria? Lucky for you.”
She kicked the floor hard, and her swivel chair slid forward, but she miscalculated the force, ending up toppling over onto the ground. Dizzy and dazed, she kept whining, “Ouch, ouch, ouch…”
After a moment, she stood up under Lin Nan’s bewildered gaze and quickly changed the subject: “Let’s get started! I’ll give you healing magic, and you help me find the prettiest clothes to promote there!”
“Fine,” Lin Nan sighed, following Li Na to the wardrobe.
When they opened it again, it was filled with clothes Li Na had ordered online, with a variety of styles.
“Try this one first.” Li Na sized up a black hooded mini dress and casually handed Lin Nan two pairs of black thigh-high stockings.
“This outfit feels so weird,” Lin Nan lamented as she accepted the clothes. “Why is the dress so short?”
“A short dress won’t get in the way during battles!” Li Na said with a serious expression. “In the past, sorcerers wore long robes, and they’d trip over them! Plus, once all sorcerers start wearing mini skirts, I can wear them proudly!”
Lilith leaned closer, eyeing the outfit, and suddenly burst out laughing. “Not too short! Remember last time you wore that sailor outfit in front of Chen Yao? It was way shorter!”
Lin Nan’s face turned beet red as she recalled the sailor outfit incident, where both cats had been present.
Meaning all the flirty stuff with Chen Yao was also seen by them…
Even before putting the outfit on, the humiliation was already swirling in her chest, ready to pounce.
“Peeping Tom!” she spat.
“I wasn’t peeping; I was watching openly!” Lilith declared with righteous pride.
Ignoring her, Lin Nan took the dress into the bathroom, and after what felt like an eternity, she emerged wearing the hood, hesitantly stepping out.
Her head bowed, hiding her expression under the hood, she clutched the hem of the dress, her face flaming. She nervously asked, “How’s this?”
The dress barely covered a third of her thighs, with her legs snugly wrapped in black stockings, giving off a chill. The stark contrast of white between the dress and stockings made it hard for anyone to look away.
The top part was covered with long sleeves and a hood, wrapped up tight, and with her head down, she accidentally channeled a bit of an evil sorceress vibe.
“Hmm! Step a bit closer, say cheese!”
“What?”
Lin Nan instinctively looked up just as a flash blinded her, making her squint in pain.
Moments later, when her vision cleared, she found Li Na was holding a camera and circling around her, snapping pictures.
“I didn’t agree to this!” she shouted, instinctively taking two steps back, leaning against the wall, wide-eyed and panicking.
Lilith was still egging her on from the side: “Get a shot from underneath! Underneath! Then print a hundred copies and throw them on the street!”
Lin Nan couldn’t take it anymore and used her ethereal hand to smack Lilith back onto the bed.
“Just one for promotion! You could be the first star model in my world!” Li Na uninterruptedly snapped seven or eight shots and then suddenly stopped, tilting her head at Lin Nan. “Hold a broom like a magic wand! Act like the sorceress you are, show that vibe! You get what I mean?”
“We’re the ones who will change the flow of the world! Don’t act shy and timid!” Li Na’s tone was full of fervor, and her spirit was high. “You must believe, we can change the world! Make the old, decayed, stagnant humans accept Earth’s culture!”
Lin Nan was already in a state of alarm, her brain barely functioning, hardly paying attention to what Li Na was saying.
She grabbed a broom, a mournful look on her face, and asked, “Like this?”
But that meant the photos could be seen by a ton of people from another world… Would everyone see how I look in a miniskirt?
Suddenly, it hit her, and she felt embarrassment surge in her head, blanking out momentarily.
“Do that vibe like when you smacked Lilith just now! Do it again!”
Panicking, she aimed her ethereal hand at the just-risen Lilith and smacked her again.
“Yes, yes! That’s the feeling! I bet you’ll be a star in my world soon! One more shot!”
Lilith once more went flying, hitting the ground with a dazed expression on her face.
