377. I’m Ready Now! 【23/99】
==============================
Big Dog has been super busy lately.
There’s a bubble tea shop outside the school that’s getting a makeover. This was the investment he finally managed to snag from his parents, and it’s his first foray into entrepreneurship. He’s really invested in the bubble tea shop and wants to spend every waking moment there, watching the workers renovate.
But alas, he still has classes to attend; otherwise, his parents’ investment may just vanish into thin air.
This morning, after a stroll around the bubble tea shop, he found himself all alone in the classroom. With only him as the sole student present, he found himself playing with his phone out of sheer boredom.
Just as he got comfortable, he thought he heard a string of melodious laughter.
Looking up, he saw a girl scampering into the classroom, clutching a pink shoulder bag. Today, she was dressed in a lightweight white dress, wearing sandals that flitted around like a fairy. For a moment, Big Dog thought he was watching a scene from a movie with a princess.
Then, Chen Yao followed her like a reluctant shadow into the classroom.
That j*rk! Going after my roommate!
“If you catch me, I’ll give you a treat!”
“Cut it out; if you fall, I’ll have to deal with your tears,” Chen Yao said, rushing behind Lin Nan, looking utterly helpless, afraid she might trip over her own feet again.
This guy slips just as much as Li Lisi from the next class!
“Me? Cry? Never!” Lin Nan boasted, then suddenly looked up and spotted Big Dog, who was slumped in the last row of desks.
Her expression flipped like a switch, changing from cheerful to the usual calm demeanor, sporting a slight smile as she carried her tiny bag to sit just behind Chen Yao.
Big Dog was stunned. Talk about a girl’s mood swing—her face changed faster than the weather in spring!
The old Nan Ge was gone.
Now she’s transformed into the class flower, Sister Nan.
This was his first time seeing Lin Nan in a long dress, and he couldn’t tear his eyes away.
Word on the street was that the girls in class were green with envy over Lin Nan’s makeover, all speculating she must have gone through some high-tech cosmetic surgery or used top-grade skincare products.
“Sis Nan, don’t forget to come support me at my shop on May 1st,” he fawned. “And make sure your husband comes too!”
“Hubby? Seriously? Do you even have any shame left?”
“Hey, as long as you show up, I’ll call your parents if I have to!” Big Dog patted his chest, completely unashamed. “If you keep coming regularly, you’ll be my VIP! My bubble tea shop is all about the customers being our bread and butter. The customer is always right!”
Lin Nan giggled, her shoulders shaking as she covered her mouth.
Chen Yao had no clue where she picked up that little gesture. Honestly, he thought her usual toothy grin was much more charming. After all, her small mouth and pearly white teeth didn’t leave much to hide.
Once she stopped laughing, Lin Nan turned to Big Dog and asked, “Why are you here so early today?”
“Oh, I just checked on the shop. The renovations should be wrapped up in a week. We should have no problem opening on May 1st.” Big Dog grinned, still in full-on sycophant mode. “Sister Nan, you’re looking even more beautiful recently. If you entered the class flower contest, you’d definitely be in the top three. I bet even the vote riggers wouldn’t stand a chance against you!”
Lin Nan found his compliments growing tiresome.
Realizing his words weren’t hitting the mark, Big Dog quickly shifted tactics: “Sister Nan, that bag looks fantastic! Where did you get it? Your taste is so trendy! What brand is it? I’ll get the same for my girlfriend!”
Naturally, Lin Nan’s smile blossomed even wider, and she humbly waved her hand, “Oh, I just picked it randomly.”
Chen Yao was mentally gold-star-ing that comment for future reference. He’d need to pull that line on Lin Nan next time so he wouldn’t fumble over compliments like he did when she wore lipstick.
Jumping right in, he shot back, “And where do you think you got a girlfriend?”
“Can’t I just pretend?”
Big Dog shot back with righteous indignation, completely unashamed. Then he turned back to Lin Nan, fawning once more: “Sister Nan, that dress looks stunning. I’ve never seen you in a dress before. You look ravishing! sh**t me the link; I might need one for my drag!”
Chen Yao couldn’t believe the level of thick-skinnedness this guy had achieved.
“Trust me, your drag wouldn’t stand a chance. Just focus on finding a real girlfriend,” Lin Nan teased, nodding, clearly enjoying the compliments.
“True, with a beauty like you, everything suits you—no comparison!”
“Sounds like we really have a fangirl in the house,” Tu Junhui chimed in as he entered the classroom, hearing Big Dog’s groveling. “That nickname suits you perfectly.”
Finishing his thought, Tu Junhui shot Lin Nan a surprised glance. “So, you’ve started wearing dresses now?”
“It’s too hot,” said Lin Nan, dramatically plopping her head down on her desk to enjoy the coolness, “Dresses are more breathable.”
Though she said that, deep down, Lin Nan wanted to try on outfits she hadn’t worn before.
Otherwise, wearing pants and short sleeves every day wouldn’t feel much different from when she was still a guy, right? Now that she’s a girl and gradually getting used to the idea, she might as well explore different styles.
Honestly, girl clothes are pretty cute.
“Dresses are cooler than pants?” Tu Junhui glanced at the baggy shorts he was wearing. “I think pants are cooler.”
“Why don’t you try wearing a dress yourself?” Lin Nan poked fun. “Once you do, you’ll be in the running for class flower—top three guaranteed!”
“Not sure they make dresses for a 200-pound, six-foot guy.”
Chen Yao jumped in, sharing his phone screen, chuckling, “Actually, here’s one! Six feet, 200 pounds in a dress, and it’s only a little over a hundred bucks.”
“I’ll cover that!” Lin Nan slapped the table, feeling generous.
Xiong Da, with an expressionless face, stoked the fire: “I think it’s a solid idea.”
Big Dog shouted, “Tu Junhui’s going to wear a dress for the class flower contest!”
Instantly, the whole classroom erupted in chaos. Tu Junhui was already well-liked among the guys, but with this juicy gossip, the excitement shot through the roof.
Tu Junhui was completely dumbfounded as classmates crowded around him, all eager to pitch in ideas: “I can do makeup! Let me do your makeup!”
“I’ll help you buy fake votes!”
“I’ll boost your votes! The class flower title is yours for the taking!”
“Don’t go crazy, buddy!”
“I’ll contribute a pair of 98-cent white stockings!”
He was surrounded, utterly bewildered by the enthusiasm, unsure who among his friends was hoarding white stockings. Meanwhile, Lin Nan and Chen Yao had already bolted for safety.
Lin Nan thought this would merely be a pre-class circus, but to her surprise, Tu Junhui seemed deep in thought, lost in the crowd’s hype.
This guy must have been itching to try on a dress all along, right?
Watching his pensive expression, Lin Nan couldn’t help but picture Tu Junhui, clad in a spaghetti strap dress.
With his round face, jiggly cheeks, arms as thick as tree trunks, and the wildest fuzz, combined with the white stockings and a mini-skirt—she couldn’t even!
I’m ready! How about you?
