495. The Door Related to Lin Nan
==============================
“Stay put, don’t move! I’m off to buy you some oranges.”
With that, Lin Nan dragged her confused cousin away from the back mountain.
The three boys exchanged puzzled glances. They wanted to say something, but feeling Lin Nan’s enormous magical power, they thought better of it. Little did they know, Lin Nan barely knew a few spells—kind of like being in a power plant and only being able to turn on a light bulb.
Wu Jiaming was even more bewildered. He thought they were going hiking, but instead, they ended up at a grave and encountered three shady characters, and now his cousin just casually walks off after snagging a quick benefit.
“What the heck is going on?” He stared at Lin Nan’s back, completely lost.
When they reached the foot of the mountain, Lin Nan stopped and turned around to say, “Nothing much, just go back to sleep. I have things to do.”
“I feel like you’re hiding something from me.”
“Hiding things from you is only natural, right?” Lin Nan said, completely unapologetic.
He blinked, thinking she had a point. Rubbing his head, he reluctantly trudged back home.
Once he left, Lin Nan turned on her heel and headed to a breakfast shop, bought a mountain of breakfast, and hiked back up to deliver takeout to those three guys.
When she heard them refer to her as the tour guide, it all clicked into place.
Li Na’s shop was probably a travel agency from another world, and somehow she had become a so-called tour guide for these three humans from a different realm…well, if they were even human; they could very well be ancient creatures wearing human skins.
As for why they showed up at her grandfather’s back mountain, that part was a mystery—Lauren was totally lost.
With a big bag of breakfast in tow, she returned to the massive grave, her expression as dark as a coal mine, and handed the food over with a scowl.
“After eating, just wait here. Tomorrow at eleven, I’ll take you to meet Li Na.”
“Li Na?”
“Lina!” Lin Nan corrected herself immediately, curiosity piquing her as she looked at the blonde guy, “How did you end up in this place?”
Li Na seemed to have the power to cross over at will, but she needed to be discreet, so she would go to remote places.
“There’s an unstable portal here that doesn’t require much magical power, just stabilize the portal and you can come through.” The blonde guy glanced at Lin Nan’s ocean-like vast magical energy, “I guess it’s normal you wouldn’t understand as a strong person.”
Strong person?
Lin Nan looked down at her own belly, thinking honestly, she felt just like an ordinary person unless she actively used magic.
She had felt a bit intimidated by the tall guy at first, fearing she couldn’t handle him, but seeing the cautious way he regarded her, she lost her fear, straightened up, and put her hands on her hips like a boss, beaming.
I’m a strong person!
But the three of them were looking at her with strange expressions—like they were both in awe and a bit confused.
“Rules here—gotta follow them, okay?”
“We’ve looked over the rules before we came, learned some Chinese and laws, don’t worry.”
With that assurance, Lin Nan relaxed a bit. She sighed, “So, it’s settled. Tomorrow at eleven, I’ll come find you, and we can take a ride to meet Lina.”
“Don’t cause trouble here.” She glanced at the wall nearby, “Just hide in there, and keep out of sight for another day.”
She was feeling pretty tired; she had only gotten three hours of sleep last night, and even talking felt like a heavy lift. Covering her mouth with a yawn, she waved her hand dismissively and turned back down the mountain.
The blonde guy stared blankly as Lin Nan left, then turned to the brown-haired guy next to him, who was happily devouring a meat bun, and asked, “Do you think she looks familiar?”
“Familiar?”
“Yeah, the magazine model from a little while ago—looked just like her.”
“A magazine model?” The brown-haired guy pondered, “That girl really dressed beautifully—way more daring than the average girl.”
“The church has been hunting for her for a month, claiming they want to tie her to a pyre. Who knew she’d end up in another world and have ties to a saintess?”
Lin Nan had no clue that she had become a hunted woman in the other world. She returned to her grandfather’s house, feeling a headache brewing as she pondered how to handle the sudden appearance of three otherworldly guests.
Actually, if they were three ghosts, it would be easier to manage, but now they were live, breathing people with needs!
Apparently, she also had to sort out their meals today, and worry about them possibly causing chaos in society tomorrow.
Her grandfather was still eating in the dining room on the first floor, but Lin Nan didn’t have the energy to greet him. She rushed up to her room on the second floor.
With the window wide open, she could still faintly see the massive grave where those three were hanging out.
After she shut and locked her door, pulled down the curtains, she plopped down on her bed and called Li Na on her phone.
The call connected quickly, and Li Na’s cheerful voice came through, “What’s up? Did you pick them up?”
“Yeah, I did.” Lin Nan sighed heavily as she lay down, staring at the ceiling, “What is going on? Why are three people from another world suddenly here?”
“They’re our very first batch of customers! If we take good care of them, more will come!”
“……”
Lin Nan fell silent for a moment, puzzled: “But why are you opening a travel agency? Aren’t you worried about too many people causing trouble on Earth? Why not just open a restaurant or bubble tea shop?”
“Because Earth money doesn’t mean anything to me! Plus, don’t worry—I’m a saintess. No one dares to cause trouble here.” Li Na said proudly, “Earth is another civilization. Once we build a reputation, plenty of folks will want to visit the other world. In a few decades, I’ll be the richest and most beautiful heiress out there!”
Money truly held no value to Li Na. With her magic, she found making money far too convenient.
It sounded like a solid plan—turning Earth into a tourist destination for her world, with Li Na handling the tourism experience and raking in the reward…
But it felt a bit shaky.
“Isn’t there a risk of exposing Earth and making it a target?” Lin Nan asked worriedly.
“Don’t worry, I’ve checked. There’s nothing on Earth worth conquering. My world is based on magic, and anything Earth has—minerals, plants, technology—holds no value to us.”
“Not to mention, Earthlings are pretty worthless since they can’t even use magic and have poor physical stats. They’d be a burden even as slaves! But you guys are strong. It could get interesting if things turn ugly.”
Lin Nan asked, “What’s this unstable portal at the back mountain about?”
“Ah, that’s a transmission portal, probably left by ancestors who visited Earth. It’s quite discreet… And I found out that portal might be related to you.”
“Me?” She was more confused than ever.
“I’m still investigating. I’ll be busy with the travel agency for a while, but next time I’m back, I’ll help you figure it out.”
Lin Nan nodded thoughtfully. It suddenly struck her that perhaps the reason Lilith had chosen to resurrect in her was not merely a coincidence.
