520. Is This Going to k*ll Me?
==============================
The scariest part about bungee jumping is definitely when you’re standing on the platform, and the coach starts the countdown.
At that moment, Lin Nan was on the verge of tears.
But once she actually jumped, her mind went totally blank, and she didn’t feel much fear at all. When everything ended and she was hanging upside down, staring at the topsy-turvy world around her, it seemed like her fear of heights had been miraculously cured.
Chen Yao pulled on the rope, flipping the two of them back to an upright position. He looked around and then at Lin Nan, who was curled up in his arms with teary eyes from being scared out of her wits.
For some reason, every time he saw Lin Nan looking all teary-eyed, he couldn’t help but want to tease her a little more.
He reached over and pinched her nose: “Scared yet trying to act tough.”
“Well, I jumped anyway…” Lin Nan wiped her snot and tears all over Chen Yao’s shirt, glancing nervously around again and whining, “I almost died up there!”
“But after jumping down, it wasn’t so scary anymore,” she noticed the rope starting to lower and looked down to see a small boat waiting on the lake.
Chen Yao nodded in agreement: “Yeah, standing up there is scarier.”
He rubbed Lin Nan’s little head, feeling the warmth of her petite body pressed against his. But after the fear, there weren’t too many romantic thoughts in his head – he just found it amusing to look at Lin Nan’s cute, cat-like face.
The scenic views around them didn’t hold a candle to the familiar face he had gazed at countless times. Without hesitation, he suddenly grabbed her chin.
“What are you doing?!”
Lin Nan felt a sharp pain in her chin as her head was uncontrollably lifted, then Chen Yao leaned down, prying her mouth open.
Do we have to do this in front of so many people?! Crazy!
The lakeside was full of tourists! And a bunch of classmates!
I… I can’t breathe!
Her cheeks flushed red, and her gaze became more dazed; she couldn’t resist Chen Yao’s invasion, slowly relaxing her body while holding him even tighter.
The two were locked in an embrace, gradually rotating and swaying in mid-air due to the wind, and slowly descending.
The couple above the lake became increasingly clear. Tu Junhui looked at them and spat: “d*mn it! Even bungee jumping requires feeding! This is ridiculous!”
Back on the shore, Lin Kexin was full of envy: “So romantic!”
As they descended closer to the ground, Chen Yao finally released Lin Nan’s chin, only to get punched in the chest.
Lin Nan was panting, feeling like she had almost been devoured. She looked up and shot Chen Yao an annoyed glare: “Do you realize how many people are watching?!”
“Feeling shy?”
“Ugh~”
She turned her head away, not wanting Chen Yao to see her increasingly rosy cheeks.
When her feet finally touched the boat, the staff came over to help them untie the ropes and remove the bungee gear. Lin Nan plopped down on the deck.
Her legs felt like jelly, making it hard to stand up.
The blush on her face hadn’t faded, and several staff members seemed to be throwing her teasing glances.
Ahhh!!! This is just too embarrassing!
She glanced at the hundreds of tourists on the shore, clamped her hands over her face, feeling completely humiliated.
Who does this in front of a hundred people?!
Chen Yao sat down beside her, grinning, looking out over the beautiful lake, then focusing back on Lin Nan’s bashful face.
The little boat quickly left the center of the lake, taking them on a brief spin before rushing back to the shore.
Once they docked, a dozen classmates rushed over, some with teasing grins, others filled with envy and jealousy.
When Chen Yao got off the boat, Tu Junhui slapped him on the back, cursing out loud in a sour tone, which only made Chen Yao laugh even harder.
Lin Kexin sidled up next to Lin Nan and whispered, “Your Chen Yao is so romantic.”
“Really?” Lin Nan scanned the surrounding gazes of curiosity and embarrassment, feeling mortified. She clenched her teeth angrily at Chen Yao, “He didn’t give me any warning! With so many people watching…”
“But it was still very romantic.”
“Even if I don’t think so.” Although she said that, Lin Kexin’s envious tone made her heart flutter a bit.
She looked up at the towering bungee jump platform and changed the topic: “Next should be the Big Dog, right?”
With the Big Dog and another unfamiliar classmate, they could leave once they jumped.
Checking the time, they had set off at nine o’clock. She thought the next jump wouldn’t take long, yet they had only completed three jumps and it was already ten-thirty.
By the time they returned, it would probably be past eleven.
Feeling a bit worried, she said, “If Zheng Qian wakes up, he’s probably going to be furious.”
Lin Kexin, however, slyly pointed at Tu Junhui’s back with Chen Yao: “That was organized by him, it’s not our problem.”
As the vice-class monitor, she’d never seemed to have a tendency to skip class or be late; she handled things efficiently with a strong sense of responsibility.
Who would’ve thought she could be like this?
Guess blaming others is just in our nature, right?
Lin Nan immediately felt guilt-free and nodded vigorously: “Right, it’s all Tu Junhui’s fault! We were just led astray!”
And it wasn’t just Tu Junhui; Lin Nan looked around and spotted their class monitor.
If Tu Junhui couldn’t carry the blame alone, the monitor could help too. They still had Lin Kexin if all else failed.
“Why do I feel like your eyes are looking at me weird?” Lin Kexin immediately noticed her playful gaze.
“No, it’s nothing.”
She quickly turned away, looking at a nearby snack stall: “Let’s buy something to eat? I didn’t have breakfast and I’m starving.”
Originally, Zheng Qian was supposed to arrange breakfast for today, but now that Lin Nan was cut off from the main group, she would likely only have lunch after returning.
The sun gradually climbed higher in the sky, the sunlight becoming more intense, but the number of tourists in the scenic area was also increasing.
This made the once tranquil camping area burst with the noise of tourists. Zheng Qian, who had finally fallen asleep at two o’clock last night, was jolted awake. He rolled over in his tent, glanced at his phone, and was instantly frightened awake.
Why hasn’t the class monitor come to wake me up?
Wasn’t it agreed last night that they would go have breakfast at nine?
Frustrated, he scratched his head, sighed, and unzipped the tent to poke his head out.
There were plenty of tourists, but no one dared to approach the student campsite surrounded by large tents.
Zheng Qian scanned the area, feeling an inexplicable sense of panic tightening his brows.
“Lin Yuan!” He saw Lin Yuan sitting not far away playing on her phone and rushed over to ask, “Where’s the class monitor?”
Without hesitation, Lin Yuan quickly ratted out the group of classmates who had snuck off to bungee jump: “She went bungee jumping with Tu Junhui and a dozen classmates.”
“???”
What’s Tu Junhui got to do with this?!
His expression turned stunned as he felt cold sweat instantly soaking his shirt.
Zheng Qian panicked: “Gather everyone! Attendance!”
What the heck, if any student got hurt, wouldn’t I be dead too?!
