Epilogue: Four

Li Na and Lilith were temporarily staying at Lin Nan’s house.
For over a decade, it was said that they mostly toured Earth, occasionally returning to handle some affairs and trying hard to soften the witches’ image in the eyes of the people from other realms.
Their method? Turning Lilith into the poster girl for a fashion magazine, much like Lin Nan once was.
So, Lilith went from being known as the “Witch” to the “Witch with the Most Sinisters of Sins” in history.
Not to mention, a few trend-setting interrealm folks actually became her fans, chasing after fashion styles, only to be criticized by society as witchy minions.
“Does that count as a failure?” Lin Nan asked with a playful smile.
She was lounging on a rocking chair on the terrace, legs crossed comfortably, occasionally opening her mouth to grab cherries from Chen Jing’s hand.
“Not really?” Li Na tilted her head and laughed, “Your son is really good to you.”
“Isn’t he? In my son’s eyes, I’m the best mom in the world.” Lin Nan turned to look at Chen Jing. “Right?”
Chen Jing felt he was born to be the family’s errand boy.
Of course, he thought about it, but he knew very well that his mother was especially good to him.
“My mom takes great care of me! She’s been by my side since I was a kid, always the first to solve my problems, and she’s never hit me.”
He said seriously to Li Na, “She’s got a great temper, is kind-hearted, and beautiful. I’ve always suspected my dad must’ve hit the jackpot to marry my mom.”
Li Na nodded, gently ruffling his little head, “That’s wonderful, a motherly bond!”
Chen Jing sighed in relief, shakily glancing at Lin Nan, “Mom, just hand me the watermelon kn*fe…I’ll help you cut.”
“Here you go,” Lin Nan passed him the kn*fe, “Make it even, don’t make a mess.”
“Sure!” Chen Jing hurriedly took the kn*fe and cut the watermelon skillfully, handing a big piece to Lin Nan.
Then he grinned and asked Li Na, “Sister, how much do you want?”
“Just a slice, please.”
He seemed to have inherited Chen Yao’s personality; unlike Lin Nan, he wasn’t shy around strangers at all. Even after just a few hours with Li Na, he was already calling her sister like a pro.
By the pool on the terrace, Chen Yao pulled out a black fish with a net and cheerfully asked Lin Nan, “Are we having grilled fish or boiled fish tonight?”
The pool was a bit shallow, only a few dozen centimeters deep, so the fish usually couldn’t survive long. Most either died from the poor environment or were devoured by Lin Nan’s family.
“Let’s go with grilled fish. Boiled fish is too much of a hassle.” Lin Nan replied.
Lilith leaned on the railing, arms crossed, looking rather glum as she gazed at the city below, reminiscing about the lovely days with cola.
After all, that was her first body after arriving on Earth. Even though it was a bit unwieldy and she was constantly threatened by Lin Nan to get spayed, being a carefree pet, occasionally bullying stray cats and dogs to show her magic powers, was still quite enjoyable.
“By the way, Chen Jing, your great-grandpa said he misses you,” Lin Nan suddenly turned to Chen Jing, “We’re going back to visit him tomorrow, so go to bed early tonight.”
“Mom… What about the grilled fish?”
“It’ll cause heat in your body; better not eat it, or you’ll break out.” Lin Nan replied seriously.
“You’re just worried there won’t be enough for you…”
Lin Nan straightened her face: “Nonsense! Go to sleep!”
In an unhappy mood, Chen Jing left the terrace, mumbling, “How am I supposed to fall asleep? It’s barely evening.”
Once he left, Lilith turned back from the railing, a hint of dissatisfaction on her face.
“Speaking of which, Lin Nan, if you’re not having that burger, what about me?”
Even now, she was only using Li Na’s magic and, although she occasionally returned to the other realm, the short stays didn’t let her regain much energy.
“But isn’t this pretty good?” Lin Nan smiled at her.
Mainly because her young looks were just fabulous.
At first, she was a bit worried that if she kept looking too young as she aged, it might draw some judgment, but now? So worth it!
No judgment at all, in fact, Liu Xuefei asked her daily how she maintained her looks, and various relatives kept praising Lin Nan’s beauty. Even her mother and mother-in-law always had a couple questions when meeting her.
Just then, Chen Yao, who was busy preparing the grilled fish, suddenly looked up and urgently told Lilith, “Hurry and withdraw her magic!”
“What’s wrong?” Lilith turned to him.
“I can’t take it.” Chen Yao sighed heavily.
Seeing the depth in his eyes, Lilith gradually understood, while Li Na looked completely bewildered, “Isn’t it good that your wife is young?”
Clearly, Lin Nan maintained her youthful exterior and energy at around twenty, making it nearly impossible for Chen Yao, who was already over forty, to keep up.
At night, while lying next to his young and beautiful wife, any man would have strange thoughts.
As time passed and they spent more time together, as Chen Yao got older and energy dwindled, he was able to control himself better, but Lin Nan? Not so much.
Though she rarely brought it up herself, if a few days passed without “some fun,” she’d serve up one of those faces to Chen Yao that said, “You’d better step up!”
Chen Yao sighed again, life was tough.
Working was already tiring, and at home, he had a young and energetic wife.
Lin Nan shot him a glance, her face slightly flushed, and shoved a slice of watermelon into his mouth, grumbling, “Go make your grilled fish!”
Chen Yao obediently bowed his head to prepare the grilled fish, while Lin Nan, blushing, peeked at Lilith. Lilith threw her a knowing look that all women understood.
Not wanting to deal with the still effervescent Lilith, Lin Nan turned to Li Na and asked, “So, are you two here to take my magic back?”
“Not at all,” Li Na said, looking down, avoiding Lin Nan’s gaze.
“Exactly!” Lilith chimed in, hands on her hips, nodding. “You’ve used it for over a decade; isn’t that enough?”
“…”
Lin Nan’s face showed hesitance: “But I’ve already used up my magic, though.”
“???”
Both women stared blankly at Lin Nan.
“Isn’t it obvious? I figured magic must run out eventually, so I learned many… many one-time spells.” As she spoke, she lowered her head and stealthily glanced at Chen Yao, who quickly covered his kidney, turning pale.
“Like those spells to enhance stamina or strength…you know, those kinds.” Lin Nan sheepishly explained to Lilith, “Those spells are pretty draining, and I used them on the whole family to ensure the parrot didn’t kick the bucket. I even extended its lifespan a bit, that chewed up a lot of magic…”
“I even added a bit for my maternal grandparents and Chen Yao’s granddad.” Lin Nan shrugged. “So I haven’t had any magic left for the past few years.”
No magic left, yet her body showed no signs of aging.
Lilith’s expression darkened, and she rushed over, grabbing Lin Nan by the neck, desperately shouting, “How could you waste it like this! That’s three hundred years of magic I saved up!”
“Who knew it wouldn’t last…”
