Chapter 10: Does Understanding Brother Exist?
The first batch of orders had rolled in, and Xu Xiaofeng was ready to get serious about moving bricks.
One by one, they were all golden bricks.
Bond had assigned two staff members to handle the reception and organization of customer items, as well as keeping a record.
Xu Xiaofeng was in charge of collecting money and then using the magic array drawn on the cloth to teleport the express deliveries.
On the surface, it looked like she was just a simple money counter.
In reality, she was the core of the operation. The array patterns on the cloth were slapdash; as long as they lit up, they served to throw people off the scent.
In essence, she was leveraging her rare spatial magic talent. By using the existing array patterns, she could extract energy from the teleportation array and modify it for specific drop-off points, delivering packages right to the door.
This task was not something just anyone could do. After all, spatial magic talent was incredibly rare, and teleportation arrays were not something people could just fiddle with.
With such a core responsibility in her hands, even if others saw her operation, they couldn’t replicate it.
Sitting there counting money, with an occasional hum, was genuinely enjoyable!
As time passed, more and more players logged in, which meant a growing influx of greenhorns sending money.
Even those who had initially resisted this whole thing started to soften, secretly sending a few items.
What could they do? Everyone else was using it, and not jumping on board would mean falling behind.
Throughout this time, plenty of players called for a price drop—talking about low profits and mass appeal—but Xu Xiaofeng acted like she never heard a thing.
Her initial target was the wealthy, so the prices were a bit outrageous. Coupled with a unique VIP system, she had effectively excluded many poor players from the start.
Best not to scam the poor; life’s already tough for them. Plus, if prices dropped and the market expanded, that would mean a ton of players bombarding her with express delivery requests. It would wear her out!
While Xu Xiaofeng was lost in her thoughts, she kept working away at the task in front of her.
Suddenly, a path opened in the crowd ahead, and a few people marched through.
Xu Xiaofeng looked up.
Whoa! It’s Li! Big Golden Pig!
The newcomers were none other than Fiery Conflict Across the Sky. He had brought along two of his vice presidents to Xu Xiaofeng’s table.
Xu Xiaofeng’s eyes sparkled with golden light as she saw their wallets.
Holy cow! So many zeros! The three of them had loads of them!
“Big Brother, are you here to send an express delivery too?”
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky had been summoned by a phone call from his vice presidents to get the lowdown on the current situation, and he immediately rushed over with a few guys in tow.
He certainly wasn’t there to send packages. Such things could be left to his subordinates. His true motive for being here was to boost his favorability rating.
That’s right! He was out to skyrocket Xu Xiaofeng’s favorability, to the moon and back!
Just a heads up, the game “Otherworld” is for all ages, so even if you max out your favorability, there’s no steamy plot! No weddings, no contracts, no vows—none of that!
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky was not interested in such dull matters; he was eyeing the quest rewards. Ha! What good is a woman if she can’t help me climb to the top?
“Little Sister, long time no see. I heard you were here, so I thought I’d check it out. I didn’t expect it to be so lively!”
But Xu Xiaofeng wasn’t in the mood for small talk; she went straight to the point: “Big Brother, want to get a card? The VIP card is pretty amazing!”
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky had seen the VIP system. Even for someone with money like him, it seemed like a scam—clearly not a serious business venture.
But if you ask him whether he wanted to get this VIP card?
Of course, he did!
“What’s the highest tier VIP card you have here?” he asked loudly, ensuring everyone around could hear.
When you’re rich, that’s how you roll!
Sure enough, the surrounding crowd erupted in chatter.
“Dang, big spender!”
“Bro, you’re spending big!”
“Look at that, the little loli’s eyes are sparkling after hearing that.”
“Heh, that’s five thousand gold coins—about five hundred thousand RMB! Forget the little loli; even I’d be woozy if I got hit with that much.”
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky was basking in the attention, enjoying the rise in his favorability among the crowd as a result of his splurging.
However, Xu Xiaofeng was no ordinary person. She just wanted to make money.
She leaned in close to Fiery Conflict Across the Sky and whispered in his ear, “Big Brother, Grandpa told me not to say this, but I think you can handle it.”
“Oh?” Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s heart raced with excitement.
Look at that! Favorability on the rise! Yesterday’s splurge of ten million was finally paying off!
But why hadn’t he heard the system’s favorability prompts?
Xu Xiaofeng suddenly pulled back slightly, adjusting her volume just enough for everyone to hear: “Actually, there’s a hidden fourth type of VIP—the Supreme VIP. Just 9999 gold coins and you can take it home! It’s the highest priority, and there are no limits on express delivery usage. You deserve it!”
“Huh?”
“What the heck! Is this for real? Talk about overkill!”
The crowd was completely stunned by this revelation.
The existing VIP tier was already a rip-off, but it turned out there was an even bigger rip-off waiting!
Yet, quite a few people quickly caught on. Could it be… she was jacking up the prices?
Xu Xiaofeng indeed was jacking up the prices. After all, such a big golden pig, why not milk it? It was just too bad she couldn’t drain his wallet dry today.
And to accuse someone of price gouging, one must have evidence! Xu Xiaofeng might not have a Supreme VIP card ready, but she could print one on the spot!
The white card was disposable, the green for silver VIP, the blue for gold, the purple for diamond, and the gold? My word, just call it Supreme!
Sticking the white card back into her little basket, she pulled it out again, now shining like a million bucks. No one understands gold-plating better than me!
Now the question was on Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s side.
As for the suddenly popped-up Supreme VIP, he… still couldn’t say no. Building favorability was key; spending the money was necessary and wouldn’t end badly.
“Supreme it is! Give me one!”
However, while he had come to a decision, his vice president was still wrestling with the idea.
“Tian Ge, this isn’t right! We calculated beforehand. Even with ten full days of all-out effort, and including teleportation for some quests, we won’t burn through three thousand gold coins. We thought opening a diamond VIP would be wasteful but acceptable for emergency needs, but suddenly switching to Supreme? That’s purely wasteful! Just because we have money doesn’t mean we need to throw it around…”
“What?!” Fiery Conflict Across the Sky interrupted with a shout, “Do they expect the little sister to teleport for quest runs? Don’t they have legs of their own? Aren’t we just piling more work on her? What happens if she gets worn out?!”
“Huh?” The sudden interruption left the vice president stunned.
“Listen, Tian Ge, let’s manage our resources wisely, that’s totally normal. Plus, there’s no need for a Supreme VIP at all.”
“You don’t get it. Trust me, spending this money is the way to go,” he said while already handing over the gold coins and receiving his Supreme VIP card.
“Make sure to keep the team members in check. Aside from essential deliveries, try not to burden the little sister with extra work.”
