### Chapter 12: If It’s About Money, Why Not…
After the lunch break, Xu Xiaofeng continued her brick-moving endeavors.
The afternoon business wasn’t as booming as it had been in the morning. First, there had already been a wave of express deliveries, and the second wave was still waiting for consumption. Secondly, not many people were using their VIP cards.
Which was fine by Xu Xiaofeng; she was quite happy with a leisurely pace. After all, the money she needed would eventually find its way to her—there was no need to rush.
With Xu Xiaofeng taking it easy, the other players were also slacking off quite a bit, making the afternoon a prime time for fishing around.
And when people got relaxed, they started to concoct trouble. A large group of players, stuffed and with nothing better to do, gathered in the square.
They were pulling pranks, gossiping, promoting things…
And, of course, there were those looking to hit on the little loli.
Xu Xiaofeng glanced over at the player next to her, whose ID was “Bear Rips the World”: “Big brother, wanna teleport yourself?”
“Yep, little sister.”
“But the teleport coordinates you gave seem pretty close…”
Xu Xiaofeng checked her map, and sure enough, the coordinates indicated a store less than three hundred meters away across the square.
“My leg’s hurt; it’s not easy to walk,” he said.
Hurt leg… in a game? Do you take me for a three-year-old?!
But hey, he paid, and good service it was.
“Alright.” Xu Xiaofeng pretended to give it some thought, then clapped her hands.
A flash of white light, and Bear Rips the World disappeared.
But it wasn’t long before he was back…
Still looking to teleport, and still wanting to go to that same spot.
“Um…,” Xu Xiaofeng blinked at this bear with a puzzled expression.
Whatever, as long as he’s paying, I’m willing to do anything.
She watched as the little loli started jabbing at things again. Bear Rips the World turned around and flashed a peace sign at the onlookers.
Then, not long after, he stood at the teleportation array once more, making his request.
Xu Xiaofeng rolled her eyes, pulled out a piece of paper, and read from it dramatically.
“Mr. Bear Rips the World, according to our records, you have used the teleportation array a total of 9 times today, all to the same location. Therefore, we suspect you are engaging in illegal transactions. Please proceed to the city guard’s office to confess immediately.”
“Huh?” Bear Rips the World looked taken aback and then took a step back, waving his hands, “I was just joking; I’m not going! Goodbye!”
“Big brother, you might want to explain to the city guards after all.”
“No, really! I’m innocent! They can vouch for me; we were just making a bet to see how many times I could trick you! I’m really just joking,” he pointed at a few spectators who had been watching closely, “Bro, back me up!”
The people he pointed at exchanged glances, then collectively turned away, pretending to admire the scenery.
However, they kept whispering: “9 times, I told you that NPCs aren’t fools.”
“Tsk, I was just one time short of winning.”
“By the way, are we just going to ignore that guy’s antics?”
“Relax, he’s just a total lolicon. Did you not see him smirking every time he approached?”
Even though they were whispering, Xu Xiaofeng caught every word.
She smiled and looked at Bear Rips the World, then waved her hand: “Goodbye.”
Then with a push of her right hand, she placed the paper against Bear Rips the World’s body while activating the teleportation—destination: jail cell.
The note didn’t contain accusations of illegal transactions; it simply read: “Brother Guard, he’s bullying me!”
Complete with a little doodle of a basket.
The guards at the jail stared blankly at the sudden appearance of someone, their brains a bit scrambled. Then they picked up the paper and read.
“Good kid! Bullying a little sister? To the slammer with you!”
Back in the square, Xu Xiaofeng had dealt with the creep and then shot a warning glare at his accomplice.
The onlookers were in hysterics at the show.
“You guys think about it, that guy got caught after 9 tries. Maybe that’s the limit!”
“You mean, if we tried, we could mess around eight times?”
“Mess around? Holy cow! That’s such a creepy choice of words; I’m here for it!”
“I mean, bro’s really on fire! Can’t be locked up but not in jail!”
Xu Xiaofeng’s ears perked up sharply. She quickly glared over at them.
Then with a flick of her fingers, the Mess-Around Guy vanished from sight.
Following that, she leisurely scribbled down another note: “This guy is also an accomplice; he enjoys being messed around with.”
Then the note disappeared.
She pulled out a board and wrote in big letters: “Who else wants to be an accomplice?”
Holding the board up, she spun around for dramatic effect. Finally, the area quieted down.
“Che! If I don’t show you some color, you’ll really think I’m just adorable!” Xu Xiaofeng thought.
Meanwhile, the assisting employee chimed in.
“I mean, you outsiders are really pushing it! Our girl is helping you out here, and you still choose to bully her—how shameless can you get?”
“Alright, chill out, bro.” Xu Xiaofeng tugged at his sleeve, “Actually… if you guys got a supreme VIP card, I wouldn’t mind…”
“Pfft!”
The sound of soda being spewed echoed all around.
“d*mn it! Does this game still have any morals! Is it that if you don’t pay, you don’t deserve to play?”
“Today from log-in to logout has just showcased two characters: Money Trap!”
Yet, still, nobody opened a VIP account.
However, some players weren’t ready to back down that easily. They resolutely shared the related events on the forums.
In the end, a post made its way to the trending topics on the official forum of “Otherworld” after thorough editing, quickly climbing to the top.
“Guide to Avoiding the New Delivery System Launched Today: Official Unrestrained Money Grab Angers the Masses”
The post primarily calculated the benefits of using express delivery, showing that on average, spending 100 bucks saved you ten minutes.
Additionally, it vehemently criticized the VIP system, bluntly stating that anyone who signed up was foolish.
The content referenced various sources, detailed statistics, and reliable calculations, supplemented with in-game screenshots. It was essentially a solid case, leaving no room for denial.
However, the comments section told a different story.
【Backpack Ready】: Delivery? What delivery?
【My Life Is Mine, Not Heaven】: This post blabbered on, but I didn’t understand a word. What delivery service charges like that?
【Anonymous Player】: Holy cr*p! You guys in the 66th Beginner’s Village have a delivery system? Why don’t we in the 217th Beginner’s Village have one?
【Fire Fire Fire】: 45th Beginner’s Village doesn’t have one either.
【Anonymous Player】: Any Beginner’s Villages without a delivery system, please report in. I’ll start with 113.
【You’re Too Beautiful】: 213.
【Demolished View】: 4.
【Weak Water Three Thousand】: 873.
……
【A Kick to Midsummer】: Are you guys serious? This is a delivery system; just because you don’t use it doesn’t mean it’s not useful. How do you think the price would be if real-life delivery could be done anytime?
【Palms Love】: The person above must be lost in the game; games are games, reality is reality.
【Anonymous Player】: In any case, it seems like this is just a system exclusive to the 66th Beginner’s Village; nobody else has it.
This post ignited fierce discussions, but it completely diverged from the original intent of the poster.
Ultimately, the masses, fed up with the situation, reported the issue to the official channels, vehemently condemning the atrocious bug.
