Chapter 161: Crossing the First Layer of the Forest
As the mist began to change on a grand scale, the big troop up ahead noticed something was off.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky was the first to react. He kept an eye on the path ahead and immediately shouted for people to check the rear.
At a glance, the rear was also changing—but when exactly did that start?
“Everyone, alert status! Stop at the first pit ahead!”
When they finally reached their destination and stopped, the surrounding white mist began to churn violently, as if brewing a storm.
Inside the white mist were monsters, but based on previous explorations, the number of monsters was relatively small, almost like they were trying to hide from the players.
But now, it seemed their earlier guesses might have been completely wrong.
How could there be no monsters causing such commotion? Did the mist suddenly grow legs and run off?
The answer was, the mist was the monster itself!
“All units, listen up! Launch magical attacks at the white mist!”
As the order was given, various combat teams began to gather their strength.
Then, a colorful barrage of magic hurled into the mist.
After the initial round of attacks, everyone waited for the results.
“Report! Attack ineffective!”
“Attack ineffective!”
Ineffective? How could that be?
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky furrowed his brow.
“Enter alert status, do not approach the white mist!”
From a distance, Yuliya watched the situation unfold, nodding and shaking her head at the same time.
First off, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s guess wasn’t wrong.
Yuliya could see that when the white mist began to move en masse, a certain life energy manifested within, spreading everywhere like confetti.
But she shook her head because the attacks were too rushed.
The energy had just begun to manifest and was still scattered. If they attacked now, most of their strikes would miss, leading to minimal effects.
Calm down and wait a bit—once they really coalesced into something substantial, hitting them would yield way better results.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky collected his thoughts and kept the raid team on alert while waiting for the scouts they had sent out to return.
After some time, as the surrounding mist nearly boiled, looking from the outside like walls of white, the scouts finally returned.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky got the news he wanted.
Sure enough, the rear had completely changed.
Following their markers, the scouts encountered white mist time and again and had no choice but to take detours.
Additionally, their markers weren’t in a straight line; they were gradually turning.
“I see, she was warning us…” Fiery Conflict Across the Sky looked around at the thickening mist, “We’ve strayed off course, and we’ve been in danger for some time.”
“This time, let’s consider it your kindness.”
“All troops, attention! Enter attack mode!”
Everyone perked up, eyes glued to the white mist ahead.
Suddenly, a roar echoed from within the mist, followed by a creature that looked like a rhinoceros with a triangle on its head bursting through the fog.
Then, various beast-like monsters started rushing out from the white mist one after another.
At the same time, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky issued his command, launching the player group’s attacks against the tide of beasts.
The grand battle between the player group and the monster horde had officially begun!
Yuliya lounged leisurely on a tree branch far away, propping her chin on her hands, swinging her legs and enjoying the show.
She had zero intention of joining the fray.
These monsters were outnumbered by players, and coordination was non-existent, which made the disparity even greater under one side charging and the other side defensively prepared.
It wouldn’t be long before the monsters were thoroughly wiped out.
Though this battle was simple, it was way more entertaining than the BOSS battle in Ashen City.
There was unified command and coordinated efforts—it was a sight for sore eyes.
What was that previous debacle of everyone tripping over each other?
After about ten minutes, the battle concluded. Every monster was wiped out.
As each creature fell, the formerly dense white mist gradually dissipated until it completely vanished.
With the mist gone, the world felt refreshing.
And in this battle, no players had fallen; only a few were slightly injured.
It could be called a resounding victory.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky surveyed the status of the raid team and ordered, “Take a short break; we’ll advance in five minutes.”
“Excuse me, Commander, how should we proceed?”
“How to proceed?” Fiery Conflict Across the Sky chuckled lightly, “Didn’t our benefactor give us a great demonstration?”
“You mean?”
He pointed at the five big pits lined up ahead, “Let’s use this as our benchmark for direction, and we’ll create the rest of the markers ourselves.”
“We not only need to create them, but we also need to make enough noise to rival the last time! Draw the monsters out and clean up the mess!”
“If it’s just mist we can’t deal with, we’ll divide their attention and make it easier for them to reveal their true forms. Got it?”
“Got it!!”
Once the raiding team was done with their short break, they set off once more.
This time, the vanguard team and the left and right wings took turns leading, making noise with every step, creating a pit with each stride.
The commotion made by this many people was way louder than Yuliya alone, the sounds echoing through the mountains and forests, luring monsters effectively.
They cleared all enemies from their forward path and flattened every tree in the way, creating a wide and safe thoroughfare.
Yuliya trailed lazily at the back, quite at ease.
Now this felt right—this was how to carve a path!
Not a waste of my effort to remind you.
If you couldn’t even manage this little task, it would have been better for me to go solo.
But in such a vast forest, going solo would likely just lead to a straight shot through to Green Shade City.
But before that little chapter was fully wrapped up, please click the next page to continue enjoying the exciting content!
“This cursed map is really something, provides zero info—normally, at least the BOSS position would get a marker, right?”
In reality, the map only covered an area, calling it the Illusion Forest, and then that was it.
Logically, the BOSS would be at the center of the forest, but that center was enormous.
Moreover, even if Yuliya headed toward the center, it would be a straight line; no mountain, river, or cliff could pose a challenge to her spatial magic.
She always took the road less traveled.
Despite the risk of running into some hidden rare monsters or treasure chests by straying off the beaten path, it also meant she might miss normal targets.
If the BOSS was on the regular route, she would likely overlook it.
Thus, she needed someone to clear the way for her.
And while the raid team was making a path, she wasn’t completely idle either.
She could check out places the raid team decided to avoid, and if they were moving too slowly, she’d casually wander to the side, as the main road was so obvious, she could effortlessly catch up.
As the raid team cleared their path and avoided difficult terrains, they unexpectedly arrived at a massive Teleportation Array.
What now? To enter or not?
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky was still pondering when Yuliya stepped in first.
She had sensed the pulse of the Teleportation Array from far away and had come to check it out early.
It was just an ordinary two-way Teleportation Array, purely meant to reduce travel time.
With such a vast forest, if the raid team moved at this pace, they’d be crawling to the BOSS territory for eons!
And on the other side of the Teleportation Array, the forest environment underwent a transformative change.
Looks like they had crossed the first layer of the forest.
