Chapter 189: Can We Take It Out in One Hit?
The Players gave it their all, casualties be damned!
As some folks say, as long as you max out the damage, dying seems worth it.
Before long, the BOSS’s health had unwittingly dropped to 30%.
It shot a glare at Yuliya, and then—poof!—vanished into thin air.
Yuliya was momentarily stunned, and when she regained her senses, she found herself in a bizarre new realm.
The air was thick with a faint purple-black gas, while the mist in the distance swirled and changed colors like a psychedelic painting gone haywire.
All the other Players had disappeared, leaving her alone with the Nightmare God.
She immediately sensed trouble and attempted to blink away.
But her efforts were thwarted.
This place was exceptionally strange; it refused to bend to her will. The Golden Law hardly functioned here, only barely picking up some fluctuations.
Meanwhile, the Nightmare God bore down on her, sword raised, like a projectile out of a cannon.
After a few exchanges, Yuliya felt something was off.
This BOSS had obviously cranked its power and speed up a notch, placing immense pressure on her.
“Uh-oh…”
Yuliya went into full defense mode, relying on her familiarity with skills to barely hold her ground.
Outside—or rather, where they originally were—the Players kept attacking for a while before they started to notice something.
The attack target had vanished, and the Wind God had disappeared as well!
“All units, stay alert! Don’t panic! The BOSS can’t just disappear into thin air! Keep an eye on that spot!”
Finally, after a few tens of seconds, a gap appeared in the sky above the impact crater, and a black figure shot out, rolling onto the ground and kneeling as it looked ahead.
“It’s the Wind God!”
“She’s hurt! Quick, heal her!”
In an instant, a barrage of healing spells was hurled her way, instantly restoring her health to full.
Meanwhile, as the gap widened again, the BOSS slowly stepped out.
Once it was back in action, its gaze swiftly shifted to the other Players—time to unleash some carnage!
Yuliya hardly had a moment to breathe before she charged back in.
This time, she realized the BOSS had returned to form and she could still keep it at bay.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky issued another command: “Keep attacking! But hold off on area attacks so we can see clearly!”
He needed to fully observe the BOSS’s mechanics.
Yuliya had the same mindset. The first time she got sucked in was chaos without warning, leaving her dazed.
If she could just hold on for a minute, she’d get back out.
This time, however, Yuliya had a warning in advance.
Sure enough, after a minute, the Nightmare God suddenly locked its eyes onto her with a fierce glare.
But Yuliya blinked out before it made a move.
However, the BOSS vanished again, leaving her outside.
From the outside, everything seemed normal; only Yuliya knew the BOSS was in another extremely bizarre space.
But she was puzzled: “I’m still here, so why can the BOSS disappear by itself?”
“Report! One of my teammates just vanished out of nowhere!”
“Yeah, I noticed too!”
Suddenly, it all clicked.
The BOSS had a targeting mechanism, dragging one random person from the area into an alternate dimension, but it wasn’t a forced lock—it could be dodged.
However, before Yuliya could ponder this further, the gap opened again.
But this time, only the BOSS emerged.
Players were down, and the BOSS had reappeared early.
From disappearing to showing up again, it was less than five seconds.
“Start the output!”
Once more, they unleashed their attacks.
But only five seconds later, the BOSS vanished again.
What in the world?! It even had a return cooldown?!
Yuliya instinctively dodged.
That space was unbearable; it felt like losing her limbs—painfully disorienting!
Plus, when the BOSS locked onto someone, it probably siphoned a percentage of their stats.
Even if she went in, she’d just be taking hits with little chance to retaliate. If something went awry, it would be game over!
So she could only bear the brunt of the bad luck for now.
Fighting for five seconds, then resting for five seconds, was basically the same as fighting for a minute and resting for a minute.
However, the next time the BOSS reappeared, as Yuliya clashed with it again, she sensed significant trouble.
Although the BOSS’s stats hadn’t skyrocketed, it had indeed improved.
Could it be that if it killed someone in that realm, it would permanently keep those stats?
If that’s the case, was this BOSS essentially getting a five-second power-up every time?
Yikes!
Reluctantly, she had to charge in.
In that strange realm, she’d be mercilessly bullied by stat-boosting mechanics.
From the outside, the Players watched in awe as the Wind God bravely engaged the BOSS, nearly shedding tears of gratitude.
The Wind God was truly magnificent!
But before long, their magnificent Wind God was hurled out, crashing onto the ground with a wail.
Everyone gasped.
“Heal her! Quick, heal her!”
This time, it was a flurry of over ten healing spells that brought her health back to full.
Yuliya got back on her feet and rubbed her sore waist and legs: “The BOSS is continually boosting its stats. Dragging this out is not wise!”
“After a few more rounds, I may not be able to take it anymore!”
Upon hearing that, all the Players felt a tightening in their chests.
What did that mean? The Wind God was nearing her limit?
Then what are we supposed to do…
Somewhere along the line, they had subconsciously seen the Wind God as their absolute pillar of confidence and safety.
Maybe it started when she soloed the BOSS away from the Royal City Area, or perhaps it was from her single heroic declaration of self-preservation.
They had almost started treating the Wind God as an unbeatable BOSS herself.
Yet they seemed to forget that she was also a Player, with just as little health as they had, and too many hits could spell doom for her.
Just earlier, when the Wind God was flung out, her health was visibly down to a third. She almost toppled over completely.
Now, what are we supposed to do…
All eyes turned to their commander.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky felt a mountain of pressure descend on him.
What could he do?
If it weren’t for the Wind God holding the BOSS back, with the BOSS’s ridiculous speed, everyone would be like grass—and easy to cut down.
Attack? Well, you can’t hit a target you can’t reach!
He wasn’t a deity; if the enemy was untouchable, there was nothing he could do.
Was withdrawal the answer?
Would they retreat with the BOSS still having around a quarter of its health left?
Even if they retreated, there had to be someone to hold the line—were they really going to sell out the Wind God again?
If that happened, everyone present would never be able to show their faces again.
Suddenly, he shouted at the Wind God engaged with the BOSS: “If dragging this on is bad, is there any way to take it out in one shot?”
Yuliya froze at the question, nearly taking a hit.
Take it out in one shot? With over two hundred thousand health?
She was ready to go off ranting, but then an idea flickered in her mind, or rather—a sensation blossomed.
Maybe, just maybe, there actually was a way.
