Chapter 210: Opening the Pattern
After a bit more trekking, Yuliya arrived at the so-called third challenge.
But you know what? She took one look and immediately lost interest.
Come on, this is way too easy. It’s starting to feel a bit boring…
The terrain was complex, with stone pillars jutting out in all directions, forming bridges or perilous spikes. Below her lay an endless abyss—one misstep would mean a quick trip to the afterlife.
And what were players supposed to do here? Just walk through without even having to fight monsters.
Wasn’t that like walking through with your eyes closed?
Seriously, this made the time Yuliya had to jump off a cliff and climb in that event dungeon seem like child’s play.
That was an operation requiring extreme precision, and you had to calculate your path just right.
But here? Just look at all that space! Even without spatial magic, she could leap her way across in just a few jumps.
And the monsters hiding inside? Pfft, instant wipe.
If they didn’t show themselves, they could get lucky, but she wouldn’t bother with them.
Like a stroll in the park, Yuliya breezed through this place.
Finally, she stood before the ultimate BOSS.
You know, the one that a lot of people would rather miss class and break a bone than face.
Yuliya lingered at the door for a moment, glancing around and giving a sniff.
“Yep, no doubt about it, there’s definitely a magical aura inside.”
She caught a whiff of the faint scent as soon as she entered the dungeon.
“Even if the BOSS has that magical energy, it probably isn’t going to be too tough of a foe. Otherwise, other people would have a real hard time clearing this.”
Nodding to herself, she decided to give it a shot.
She could skip class, and honestly, it would be easier for her than anyone else, but that seemed pointless.
She was much more interested in anything related to magic.
Pushing open the stone door, she stepped into a semi-enclosed circular space.
Right in the center, a goblin slowly stood up as she entered.
This goblin didn’t look like your usual hilariously goofy kind; it exuded a rather brutish hostility.
Standing straight, it had a bag slung over its back.
Once upright, it was about 1.5 meters tall—a smidge taller than Yuliya.
Annoying…
【Name: Goblin Sorcerer (Blue Boss)
Level: 18 (Bronze High Rank)
Health: /】
The moment their eyes met, it was like seeing a sworn enemy. Without a single word, they jumped straight into combat.
Yuliya charged in, sword drawn, while the goblin sorcerer began flinging some mysterious substance from its bag all around.
It was a toxic powder, the sorcerer’s way of creating an advantageous battle environment.
Yuliya wasn’t about to let it have its way. She closed in fast and started delivering short, rapid strikes.
But this goblin sorcerer was something else, it just legged it!
Running away while tossing powder everywhere.
You had to hand it to the little guy—it was a pure spellcaster; as soon as someone showed up, it was off to the races, throwing distractions the whole way.
That powder was just its basic skill; it could pull all sorts of unknown substances out of its bag.
Mixing up a concoction and tossing it, explosions and freezing spells went off—wind and lightning were no match either.
Whoa! This scene looks oddly familiar. Isn’t this the classic tactic I use?
In other words, the BOSS was playing the kite tactic.
Yuliya never imagined she’d end up being the one on the receiving end of kiting!
You think you can kite me? Not a chance!
“Golden Four Moves—Open Heaven!”
A wide-ranging wave of sword energy surged forward, hitting the goblin sorcerer and sweeping aside all sorts of weird things.
Seizing the opportunity, she unleashed a devastating combo and knocked off 20% of the BOSS’s health in one go.
After losing some health, the BOSS pulled a forced retreat, knocking Yuliya back in the process.
Then it started running again.
But this time, it pulled even more tricks from its bag.
Now Yuliya understood why people in forums said this BOSS tested for DPS.
It was all about stalling for time while waiting for the poison to kick in!
Well, that’s easy enough. Yuliya never lacked for DPS.
And BOSS, you’d better believe you can’t outrun me. You’ve turned into a moving target.
To clear this challenge, there were two main paths to take.
One: high healing. If you can withstand the poison long enough, your damage will add up.
Two: explosive damage. Just blast through and finish it!
And Yuliya was capable of explosive damage while also having high healing.
Sure, she may be flat-chested… uh, I mean she doesn’t have natural healing, but she can carry healing potions!
Each potion restores 50% of her max health.
Her max health was double that of others, so the potion’s effects worked out to double as well.
In relativity terms, that’s extra healing.
Then there’s the damage output. Added up, could three or four other players even surpass her? Not a chance!
With high base attack, great skill multipliers, and true damage? Who could compete?
All things considered, this challenge was just a simple matter of punching a punching bag.
After about three minutes, she ground the BOSS into the dirt.
Glancing at the dungeon timer, it showed only 28 minutes had passed.
“Uh… looks like that ‘Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’ kid’s team took over forty minutes to clear. Is it too fast for me to finish this?”
She thought for a moment and decided to wait until around 40 minutes before heading out.
You can apply pressure, but if you apply too much, you might just crush the plants.
What? You say the ‘Ruinous Country’ run put that pressure already?
Nah, buddy, that was only an event dungeon—those skills were all borrowed. Once that event’s over, their chances come flooding back!
The self-soothing of these players was on point. With such strong self-healing, there’s no need for her to stress.
While twiddling her thumbs in the dungeon, Yuliya looked around.
Suddenly, her nose twitched; something felt off.
The BOSS was dead, but why hadn’t the magical aura dissipated?
More precisely, the aura hadn’t changed at all.
Her pupils narrowed as she realized something was off—there was likely something hidden in this dungeon.
Yuliya exited the BOSS room, checking up and down, and following the scent, she locked her gaze onto the abyss below.
It was bottomless down there, but she could see a couple of spots along the path.
One was at the so-called third challenge area, and the other was at the player spawn point.
Yuliya immediately turned around and headed back, passing through the third challenge with no luck.
Finally, she returned to the spawn point.
Behind the spawn point was an endless cliff.
“Six!” Yuliya gave a thumbs up to the sky. “Sister Tong, you really designed this dungeon beautifully. Seriously, no one but me could find such a spot.”
As mentioned earlier, players had a knack for skipping around. They managed to dodge the BOSS and found their way around the third challenge.
But I’ve gotta say, their perspective isn’t fully open yet.
If I started skipping right from the spawn point, without fighting a single monster, grabbing not a single drop, and skipping out altogether?
Then they’d find a delightful surprise down there.
But Yuliya checked the time; it was almost 40 minutes.
So she decided to come back tomorrow, dragging Little Moon along for the ride.
As for whether she was worried about someone getting the jump on her?
Ha! Finding it is one thing; defeating it is a whole other story!
Let’s go! Bring it on, you ordinary goblin sorcerer who’s struggling with a BOSS!
