Chapter 245: Yuliya’s Situation
In the midst of all the drama on the forums and international insults, Yuliya was blissfully unaware.
She followed Elia into a side palace of the Royal Palace.
Edward and Isaac were trailing behind, like reluctant shadows.
With the throne situation temporarily settled, it was time to tackle the complicated Yuliya problem.
Edward had mentioned before that Yuliya’s situation was a bit… complicated.
Elia took a look for herself, but then insisted Edward take a closer peek.
Though she had already reached the legendary level herself, she was still no match for the old guard of legendary figures, especially the former strongest swordsman of the Empire. The gap was still considerable.
“Uncle, how’s Little Yuliya doing?”
Edward pondered for a moment and shook his head. “Don’t worry, it shouldn’t be anything bad. But I’m not quite sure of the specifics. Maybe it’s better if she tells us.”
I have to speak for myself?
Yuliya was utterly confused.
I don’t know anything!
I don’t even know what my issues are—what am I supposed to say?
Seeing Yuliya’s bewilderment, Edward started guiding her step by step.
“Kiddo, do you sometimes say weird things? Or do odd stuff?”
But the moment those words slipped out, Edward wanted to facepalm.
What kind of question is that… Has this girl ever said or done anything that wasn’t weird?
He practically knew every bizarre thing Yuliya had pulled off in Emerald City.
Let’s just say that bizarre is an understatement, but hey, she made money faster than a speeding b*llet!
Ever since the Outsiders showed up, this girl started acting off-kilter.
In Falling Leaf City, she was somewhat restrained, but in Emerald City? She was a total wild child!
Yuliya racked her brain for quite some time, and finally shook her head. “I’m not weird! But sometimes I do see some unusual things and… say random stuff.”
Edward couldn’t help but cover his face.
This girl actually thinks she’s normal!
“Don’t you feel like you’re… a lot different than a year ago? What exactly do you see? That might be crucial!”
At this, Yuliya froze.
Oh no! I almost forgot—Uncle spent over four years with me in Falling Leaf City!
Even though I look the same now, my personality has had a couple of minor tweaks, and my actions? Totally night and day!
He’s definitely figured me out!
He wouldn’t start doubting me, right?
Yuliya stole a glance at Edward and immediately began to act, or maybe just doing a terrible job at hiding her true self.
She was indeed a little frazzled.
“Um, I… I… Uncle…”
“Kiddo, don’t panic. We just want to figure out the issue, right? Why don’t you start by sharing what you’ve been experiencing? Has anything strange happened?”
“I… I don’t know…”
Yuliya turned around and flung herself into Elia’s arms. “Sister! I really don’t know anything!”
“Okay, okay, don’t get worked up. Little Yuliya, take a breath,” Elia gently patted her back and gestured for silence to Edward, then continued to comfort Yuliya. “Calm down, it’s alright. Okay?”
“Mm…”
Yuliya was starting to regain her composure.
Honestly, she was pretty curious about her own situation.
Maybe I can try saying just a little bit.
Even if there is something odd, it would only be weird in Uncle’s eyes.
Sister Elia only knows the ‘new me,’ she will definitely be on my side.
Feeling the little one settle down, Elia whispered in her ear, “Little Yuliya, you’re smart—you must have thought of something, right? Feel free to share! Uncle has seen it all, I’m sure he has a solution. We’ll do our best to help.”
“Of course, if you really don’t want to—”
“Sister, I got it!”
Yuliya sighed, stepped out of Elia’s embrace, and straightened up.
“Sometimes fragments and images pop into my head. They feel like a play, but also like things I’ve actually experienced.”
“Memory fragments. You must have received some human memories. What are they like?”
Yuliya picked out some bits of memories from the Golden Princess and described them.
But they were hazy and sporadic, not too many in number.
This counted as an NPC’s inherent quirk, unrelated to player experiences; it was just being used as a test balloon.
The biggest secrets wouldn’t come out so easily, so better to start with something somewhat normal.
Edward nodded while pondering, “That sounds like the memory of some ancient person. Have you received any kind of inheritance?”
“Your inheritance, Uncle?”
“Excluding that one.”
“Then…?”
Yuliya thought for a moment but ultimately decided to show off.
So she began her spatial magic performance.
All three of them were strong enough to sense the silent waves and intangible attacks, even if they weren’t adept at spatial magic.
Compared to the spatial magics they had seen before, Yuliya’s was on a whole different level, leaving those clunky ones trailing in the dust.
For ordinary spatial magic users, just managing to grab a stack of paper from afar was impressive.
But Yuliya? She plucked out the paper with the name written on it while keeping the others perfectly still.
The three strong ones couldn’t help but break into applause.
Brilliant!
“No wonder even I couldn’t find you in the secret realm, kiddo.”
“This certainly isn’t an ordinary inheritance. It’s natural to carry the memories of the original owner with you.”
The more powerful the inheritance, the more the memories and experiences became integrated into it.
“So being influenced by inherited memories is understandable.”
Yuliya suddenly asked, “Are there any other possibilities besides inheritance?”
“Other?” Edward frowned, “Like… soul possession?”
Upon hearing this, Yuliya’s heart skipped a beat, and her pupils widened slightly.
This… my player identity…
Before Yuliya could spiral into wild thoughts, Edward patted her head. “Kiddo, don’t think too much. Your situation can’t be possession. I’ve been keeping an eye on you since you started showing slight changes, and trust me, there’s no possibility of that happening.”
“Why not?”
“Possession causes a clear rejection response between soul and body. You’re not showing that at all.”
“But sometimes I do feel a bit… out of sync with my body…”
Back when I turned into a player, I was absolutely out of sync, like I was being suppressed.
But now, I might be doing better because my synchronization rate increased a lot.
Synchronization rate… out of sync… I’m a player from Blue Star.
The more I think about it, the more it feels like possession!
“Being out of sync and rejection are two very different things,” Edward chuckled. “For example, you could have an incredibly vivid dream, but when you wake up, you feel a bit off for a moment. Rejection, on the other hand, is conflict; it’s a violent clash between water and fire.”
Upon hearing this, Yuliya finally let out a deep sigh of relief.
This was like untying a long-standing knot in her heart.
She felt completely unburdened and finally grasped another key point from Edward’s words.
“Uncle, actually, I do often have very realistic dreams. They even make it hard for me to tell what’s real and what’s not.”
A smirk crept onto Edward’s face.
“Ah, I see! Inheritance was just the minimum guess; your situation has another possibility.”
“What is it?”
“Reincarnation.”
