Chapter 288: Got It Just Right
The two of them followed Alisa to the Royal Library.
The Verdant Empire’s library was fancier than the Jade Emperor Kingdom’s by a long shot.
Since their country was close to the forest, they had a greater need for preserving books.
But on the flip side, if you just knew the right tricks, their ancient texts could be kept in tip-top shape.
That’s what Alisa was explaining all the way.
“So, our historical records are more detailed and accurate — though also a bit too much! If you want to look for something, feel free to ask me!”
“Wait? Can you actually remember the specific books in this huge library, Alisa sis?”
“No, I can just go ask the administrator.”
“…”
Yuliya blinked, a little choked up.
This kid, could she possibly have stars in her eyes? She’s almost chasing herself silly!
Otherwise, as a princess at her age, she shouldn’t still be only Gold Level. She was just a few levels above Yuliya.
You know, when Elia was this age, she’d already broken through to Emerald Level!

But out of the three, only Edward was genuinely reading.
The other two exchanged glances and occasionally peeked at Edward.
But such small antics were completely invisible to a legendary powerhouse.
Edward put his book down. “What are you two up to?”
“Nothing much.” Yuliya shielded the lower half of her face with the book, revealing just her eyes. “I just think you look super cool when you’re really into reading, like a refined gentleman.”
“I think so too.”
Alisa echoed with a dramatic flair, sounding like a colorfully enthusiastic fan.
“Don’t imitate that little girl. Don’t let her lead you astray.”
Yuliya puffed up her cheeks. “I didn’t!”
“Less talking, more reading,” Edward replied nonchalantly, diving back into his book.
He seemed completely indifferent, but Yuliya knew that her compliment had definitely reached him.
Who doesn’t like being praised? Legendary powerhouses are no exception!
There we go, he just sat a little straighter.
Yuliya sped up her reading.
She flipped a page with a whoosh.
Edward frowned at the commotion. “Is that how you read?”
“Yep, I read fast.”
“Suit yourself.”
Meanwhile, Alisa started asking Edward questions.
The “Jadeite Ten Swords” was no cakewalk.
As a simplified version of the Golden Battle Technique, even with much of the complex theory trimmed away, it retained some of its essence.
The Gold Clan, being the strongest human legacy, had concepts that had been refined through unmeasurable ages, making it incomprehensible for ordinary folks.
As a branch of the Golden Kingdom, the Jade Emperor Kingdom only managed to pass down a fraction.
Attempting to train others with this fraction was like trying to decipher celestial scriptures.
Edward had no choice but to patiently explain things to Alisa.
He’d already committed himself, so he had to see it through.
Even though it was a little girl who asked, she was still his student!

Edward stared blankly at Alisa.
Alisa lowered her head, not daring to meet his gaze, stammering, “Um, Edward sir… I…”
“Ugh!”
In the end, Edward covered his forehead, letting out a heavy sigh.
“Forget it. It’s definitely one of that girl’s tricks. It’s got nothing to do with you.”
He understood.
For the first time, he felt how hard it was to keep an eye on little gremlins, even for a legendary powerhouse.
Oh wait, was this the second time? The first time was in Falling Leaf City.
Yep, it was this little gremlin too.
Hearing Edward’s resigned sigh, Alisa felt oddly pleased.
Yuliya’s sister was right! Edward wouldn’t be angry, he’d just look all worn out.

She could handle it; whatever happened later, she’d deal with it then.

If it were Elia, maybe she would’ve really punished her a bit, but this chump of an uncle? Not happening.
At this point, Yuliya had already arrived in the inner city area.
Her destination was the Verdant Empire’s Heroic Spirit Trial Tower.
The Jade Emperor Kingdom had quite a few of these towers, but the heroic spirits you encounter in each one were the same.
In other words, think of this as a gacha pool.
The Jade Emperor Kingdom was a Heroic Spirit pool with many entrances, while the Verdant Empire was a completely different one.
Since the Heroic Spirit Towers were constructed by the Golden Kingdom, she absolutely had to check it out.
