### Chapter 323: Perhaps Opposing the Gods
The news of the quest quickly spread across the forum, creating quite a stir.
Golden City, currently, is bustling with a staggering million players.
But, of course, the top-tier players—those above level 30—number only in the tens of thousands.
At the pinnacle, there’s “Wind” at level 37, followed by a bunch of 33s, then 32s, and so on.
Past level 30, the required experience for leveling up skyrockets; it’s practically impossible to grind it out.
So, you’re probably wondering, how did “Wind” manage to level up so high?
The answer is simple: she wasn’t grinding; she was just chilling!
As for the monsters in the desert, who knows how many there are? They’re practically spilling into every nook and cranny!
Monster levels range from a lowly 25 to… well, who knows what the highest is!
With such a vast desert, players can’t possibly have ventured into every corner.
There are countless odd spots, plus monsters hidden deep beneath the swirling sands—those deeper down tend to be tougher too.
The highest-level monster anyone’s encountered so far is level 43. Players who laid eyes on it instantly turned and bolted!
They’ve also seen a few monsters a couple levels lower, but the big question remains: how many monsters will this quest attract, and how powerful will they be?
Maybe that’s the reason the quest’s difficulty level is so unpredictable.
Since news of the quest broke, players from other empires have been flocking to Golden City.
Some had errands before and couldn’t make it; others thought, “Why bother going to Golden City if I won’t even get a sip of soup when I can just retire in the main city?”
And an even larger crowd was grinding like mad, racing to hit level 25 to join in.
Once the news hit, the grinders went even crazier.
“I don’t care if I lose money, I HAVE to experience this main quest!”
That’s also one reason Yuliya set aside three days for this quest.
In those three days, an uncountable number of players would rush to Golden City.
The more, the merrier, am I right?
But, for Yuliya, the monsters of the Desert Realm don’t really pose much of a threat.
Let them storm into Golden City; every monster that comes in is guaranteed to leave as an ex-monster—that’s just the cost of a little city power!
As long as Golden City can be patched up afterward, we can always find a way to replenish any lost power.
As long as…
“Phew~”
Yuliya took a deep breath.
“Just you wait!”
She logged off, determined to change her mood.
Once back in Blue Star, she opened her eyes, glancing around the empty room. A wave of inexplicable melancholy hit her.
She headed to the living room, grabbed a bag of bread, and just as she was about to rip it open, she paused.
“Doesn’t seem like I have much of an appetite…”
She looked left and right, then, frustrated, threw the bread aside.
“Ugh! It’s better to just sit back in Golden City and wait!”
Right then, her phone buzzed.
She picked up to see it was Little Moon.
Picking up the call, she asked, “Little Moon, why are you suddenly calling me?”
There was a clear pause on the other end, then a soft voice came through, “I noticed you logged off without a word. Just checking on you.”
“…” Yuliya fell silent for a moment before retorting, “Isn’t it normal to log off?”
As soon as she said it, she realized that it sounded a bit heavier than she intended.
Little Moon seemed unfazed. “What are you up to now?”
“Nothing.”
“Should I come back to keep you company?”
“No need.”
“Then how about I take you out for some fun?”
“…”
“Decision made! See you at home in a bit!”
As she hung up, Yuliya sulked, “What a self-centered little sister!”
But a faint smile crept onto her face, her mood slightly lightened.
Not long later, the door swung open as Xu Xiaoyue walked in.
She marched up to the sofa, lifted Yuliya in a playful embrace, and laughed, “Feels like it’s been ages since I last saw you!”
“We see each other every day in Golden City!”
“It’s different! Over there, you seem more high and mighty, but here, we can just be ourselves!”
“My status is still just as high here!”
Little Moon chuckled, tugging on her hand. “Let’s go outside. You’ve been holed up at home long enough; you’re about to sprout mushrooms! Where do you want to go?”
Without a second thought, Yuliya enthusiastically exclaimed, “Amusement park!”
“No way! Try again! That option is absolutely off the table!”
Little Yuliya lifted her chin proudly, as if she had vowed to regain some ground. “Alright, you pick then, sis!”
Xu Xiaoyue suggested several places—an aquarium, a little garden—and of course, where to grab an essential epic feast afterward.
As they took in the sights, so different from the sandy landscapes in their game, Yuliya felt her troubled heart gradually lighten.
Meanwhile, Little Moon was just playfully enjoying herself, steering clear of any other topics.
After half a day’s adventure visiting two places, they ended up in a private room at the restaurant.
Earlier, Yuliya totally had no appetite, but now she was ravenous, ordering like a champ, like usual.
After the food arrived, Yuliya raised her hand to block any monitoring screens.
Then, like she was back at home, a multitude of hands dived into the feast.
Watching the assortment of dishes spread across the table, Little Moon couldn’t help but cover her forehead.
“Little Yuliya, maybe tone it down a bit? What if someone sees?”
“Relax, no one can see us! From the outside, including surveillance cameras, it looks like we’re just frozen!”
“You can pull that off?”
“Hehe! I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve!”
Finally, after Yuliya had her fill, Little Moon hesitated before carefully asking, “Little Yuliya, are you feeling down about that main quest?”
When she first saw news of the quest, she wanted to talk with Little Yuliya for more details.
But seeing her log off made her sense something was off.
The first sentence she spoke when she called revealed that tension.
So, she opted to hang out with Little Yuliya to cheer her up.
But this distraction was only temporarily burying the issue; the real solution needed to be addressed openly.
“You’re quite perceptive.”
“Oh, I have to be sharp with my Little Yuliya. As for everyone else? I couldn’t care less!”
“Well, can you spill the beans on your matters then?”
“Sure, let’s talk.”
Little Yuliya shut her eyes for a moment, pondering, then opened them again.
“Remember the question I asked you last time? About the choice I need to make?”
“Yeah, I remember. You were referring to this quest,” Xu Xiaoyue tilted her head, mulling it over, “but to me, it just seems challenging, nothing too outrageous.”
“What if I told you this quest might involve some truly outrageous enemies?”
“Huh? How outrageous?”
“You should’ve noticed the quest difficulty is undefined. Meaning any of the three potential difficulties could come into play. You’ve seen Epic and Legendary, but aren’t you curious about what those three question marks stand for?”
Hearing this, Xu Xiaoyue gulped involuntarily. “What are they?”
“Mythical level. Which means, a god could show up.”
“A god?”
“Yep, a god. I’ve told you before, and you agree now, that this world is real. Which means gods are real too.”
Yuliya let out a heavy sigh. “If we are truly opposing gods directly, we’re toast.”
