Chapter 396: Beastmen
A day later, Yuliya took off from the Jade Emperor Kingdom, ready for another adventure.
Those prohibitions had mostly some positive effects, but the main problem was that they were a bit too all-encompassing.
So, as long as they could limit the scope and intensity, while leaving enough wiggle room for the people, they could get back to their lively selves.
For instance, banning lying within the church and at certain special occasions would be just fine.
Another example would be prohibiting nighttime outings but allowing activities in a specific area or under special circumstances.
There were many such rules, and Yuliya couldn’t go through them all; she wasn’t clued in on this country’s specifics and didn’t want to jump to conclusions.
Thus, she left the power to optimize things in the hands of the King and Bishop, planning to adjust as issues arose.
In theory, this was their right, but with a divine being breathing down their necks, they’d hesitate to shake things up.
But in reality?
As the God of Truth said, he was just trying to make a living; who needs a bunch of rules?
As long as the faith base remained intact, these folks’ shenanigans didn’t bother him at all.
So, Yuliya soared into the sky straight in front of the King, ministers, and Bishop, leaving them behind.
After all, being called an angel means she had to keep up appearances!
However, little did she know that because of her flashy exit, the King and his entourage decided to erect a statue of her right next to the church’s statue.
The God of Truth was all for it, raising both hands and feet in approval.
Not only that, he insisted on making her statue taller than his own.
Having the big sister’s statue right there? Didn’t that basically give him official authorization?
Promoting the Nature God!
Of course, the church folks weren’t having any of it.
In the end, both statues were put on equal standing in a few grand cathedrals.
Yuliya had no idea what was brewing behind her, as she continued her journey.
On her travels, she came upon the Ilros Kingdom, which was significantly larger and more prosperous than the Jade Emperor Kingdom, though Yuliya found it not so appealing, so she just breezed through.
It wouldn’t be long before the Jade Emperor Kingdom caught up with this place, maybe surpass it even.
Geographically speaking, the Jade Emperor Kingdom was situated in a better spot.
Yuliya didn’t slow her pace.
Soon after, she stumbled upon a few intriguing nations.
There was one called the Kawatu Kingdom, where the citizens worshipped some unknown deity and were exceptionally skilled in illusions.
Everything there was created by illusions—houses, food, even clothes—everything was fake!
But their illusions were so convincing that an ordinary person would experience it like reality.
According to them, it was all a gift from their god.
But Yuliya… she had Golden Eyes.
The basic trait of Golden Eyes was to see through illusions.
And then things got a bit awkward…
With just a glance, it was like stepping into an art installation!
Although she could turn off her Golden Eyes, knowing the truth made everything feel weird no matter how she looked at it.
So, Yuliya didn’t linger for long before bolting away.
Then she arrived at another country that had a rather peculiar schedule.
They lived a nocturnal lifestyle, supposedly to counter the plethora of nocturnal monsters around—like night demons, phantoms, and other night-dwelling beings.
To fight back, they decided to turn themselves into night owls.
Besides their odd hours, they were pretty much like everyone else.
However, they had developed lots of nighttime specialties, like gigantic lantern plants that thrived on the night’s energy.
One fruit, in particular, was a purple delicacy that tasted amazing!
Though it was a tad pricey at one gold coin each.
So, that night, Yuliya devoured fifty of them, while Little Li munched on thirty.
Then she packed a thousand into her backpack.
“Little Li, I spent a fortune to feed you! Look how good I am to you!”
“Gaah?”
Sure, she might have been overcharged for being a foreigner, but who cared? Worth it!
It had been nearly two and a half months since leaving the Jade Emperor Kingdom, crossing countless borders. Now Yuliya arrived at a rather special realm.
It was special because as soon as she crossed the border, she sensed the environment had a different vibe.
It looked like a monster area, at least in the vast vicinity of the border.
However, the monsters here appeared much more orderly compared to the chaotic monster zones she had passed through before.
Yuliya heightened her perception over a kilometer, trekking for several kilometers until she confirmed that the monsters were indeed arranged in neat rows.
Usually, normal monsters wander all over the place; the weaker they are, the more scattered they tend to be.
Only when there’s an exceptionally strong leader do they listen somewhat to commands.
But here, although some were wandering, their overall activity zones were strictly limited.
If one had to draw an analogy, it was a bit like the human army standing at attention during a drill.
Yuliya raised her guard and pressed on.
Suddenly, her senses picked up a few unusual monster individuals.
Quickly, she moved closer, appearing a hundred meters away from them.
Yuliya squinted and her eyes widened in shock.
This… this is… Beastmen!
Looking left and right.
Wow! There are beast-eared ladies too!
Now we’re talking about a real fantasy world!
After all her hard work coming to this other world, what did she seek?
Wasn’t it to see these unique beings?
Oh, right, and food too.
And it wasn’t that hard after all.
There were six individuals in total, looking like four men and two women—assuming she wasn’t misjudging their genders due to differences in species.
They dressed similarly to humans, but it appeared a bit rougher.
Out of the five, they had ears and tails, while one had a smaller tail, or perhaps none at all.
Four had faces identical to humans, just with a pair of protruding ears, and two retained some beast-like features.
Yuliya hid at a distance, listening to their seemingly ongoing conversation.
But the language they were speaking made her furrow her brows.
This was definitely not the human language.
Yuliya understood most common human languages, and even if there were some obscure dialects she wasn’t familiar with, human languages had inherent commonalities.
But what they were speaking was outside that realm.
Oddly enough, it bore some resemblance to… the language of divine beings.
To be fair, Yuliya had little contact with divine language, mostly from her time in the Ruinous Country, where the God of Dreams, Ayelus, and Nightmare God, Yekis, used an ancient form of Senra.
The only divine phrase she knew was the five words the Dragon God shouted when he descended.
The Beastmen’s language had some similarities to divine language.
Yuliya had to approach with caution.
