Chapter 407: Sending Someone on Their Way
A little ways outside the city gates, the four of them continued walking.
One of the two behind whispered, “Your Highness, that person from just now…”
The other shook his head, “It’s fine, ignore her. We stick to the original plan.”
“Understood.”
The four quickened their pace and took a different direction.
Before long, a huge explosion echoed from afar.
Their faces dropped.
“Just as I thought… they’re not going to let me have it easy on this journey.”
“Good thing His Highness is wise and anticipated this.”
They turned back for just a moment, then carried on.
They had two routes: one out in the open, and the other hidden in the shadows.
The open route had already drawn fire, and now that they were changing paths, it should be a little easier.
However, not long after, Inif glanced around and suddenly felt something was off.
“Uh-oh, there’s an ambush! Retreat!”
As soon as she finished her sentence, a group of Beastmen suddenly surrounded them from all sides.
Although they were alert and hadn’t completely stepped into the trap, the Beastmen were incredibly fast. In no time, they reorganized and encircled them tightly.
Once surrounded, the Beastmen wasted no time launching a full-scale attack.
The three protected Inif in the middle as they fought back against dozens of Beastmen surrounding them.
Looking at these Beastmen, Inif’s expression turned as dark as a thundercloud.
It seemed those guys were so eager to stop her that they even chose to collude with the Beastmen.
No, they weren’t just trying to stop her; they were out for bl**d, aiming to wipe her out completely.
Inif cast magic at the Beastmen while the other three fought valiantly as warriors.
Despite their desperate resistance, the Beastmen outnumbered them nearly ten to one, and they were no weaklings either. Before long, someone was injured.
They’d managed to take down a few Beastmen, but it was to no avail; the encirclement remained solid.
Inif ceased her magical attacks and clutched the pendant hanging on her chest.
“Your Highness! No! We can hold on! We’re in our own territory, Penganlu City must have noticed something is wrong and sent reinforcements!”
Inif bit her lip and coldly glared at the Beastmen.
She hesitated.
She had a means of escape, a royal artifact from the Lysetti Kingdom that could teleport her out of danger.
But it could only be used once, and after using it, the destination was unknown, with severe consequences.
Also, she wasn’t sure how many people could be sent with her.
If it was just her, and by some unfortunate luck, she ended up in a dangerous area, then in her weakened state, she would be nothing more than a lamb to the slaughter.
This was the absolute last resort; the best option was to avoid using it altogether.
But as she glanced back, there was still no sign of reinforcements; Penganlu City seemed to be as quiet as a tomb.
There was no choice now; if she waited any longer, she might not even have a chance to use it.
Inif bit her finger until it bled, letting droplets fall on her pendant.
She clasped her hands around the pendant, muttering softly.
In the next moment, a burst of white light exploded from it.
The four people vanished into thin air.
The surrounding Beastmen exchanged glances, nodded to each other, and quickly dispersed.
In the blinding light, Inif shielded her eyes and, once the glow faded, slowly opened them.
But immediately, she realized something was off.
Huh? I feel… nothing unusual at all…
Didn’t they say this would use a ton of magic and leave me weak?
She checked her condition; aside from a slight racing heart and some magic depletion, everything seemed normal.
Suddenly, Inif sensed something strange, took a quick step back, and assumed a defensive stance.
“Who are you? Wait a second, it’s you!”
She realized she had been staring blankly for at least three seconds and hadn’t noticed someone right next to her.
The person had been watching her the entire time.
“Inif, Princess?” Yuliya sighed lightly, “So unexpected, huh?”
“You know me?”
Inif remained on guard, though her demeanor softened slightly.
The stranger hadn’t done anything threatening almost this entire time, so it seemed they bore no ill will… for now.
“I don’t know you, I just got here today. It’s the first time I’ve heard your name.”
Inif furrowed her brows, “You’re not here for me, so why are you at the place I teleported to?”
“What do you mean, the place you teleported to?” Yuliya raised an eyebrow, “This is the place I teleported to—ah no, I brought you here.”
“If you’re talking about the pendant’s abilities, that shouldn’t have activated yet. Its teleportation range is vast, but it’s too risky and unnecessary.”
Inif checked her pendant at those words.
It was indeed unactivated.
But she had definitely used it just a moment ago, and the signs had appeared.
“If what you say is true, then where are the other three people with me?”
“In other places. Two are fine, but one is poisoned; can’t say it’s good news.”
At this, Inif felt a slight sense of relief.
It should be alright, then.
“What is this place?”
“Still near Penganlu City. Now, about your little ambush…”
Yuliya adjusted her expression, “Those ‘Beastmen’ were likely disguised humans.”
“Disguised? Are you sure?”
“Absolutely sure.”
No one knows Beastmen better than I do—oh wait, I mean, I can tell they’re not real Beastmen with a single glance.
If they were real, Yuliya wouldn’t be rescuing people; she’d be exterminating them!

Inif recalled the situation and thought it over.
She hadn’t paid much attention to details during the crisis, but looking back now, there did seem to be some unnatural aspects.
Delving deeper, it made sense that someone would find people to disguise as Beastmen to k*ll her.
“Anyway, this is an internal matter for your kingdom, so you’ll have to deal with it yourself.”
At this point, Yuliya had basically pieced together the story.
Power struggles.
She happened to pass through and thought since Princess Inif had a high enough reputation, she might lend a hand if the opportunity presented itself.
But she couldn’t just go help Inif seize the throne; she had her own business to attend to.
With that, Yuliya turned to leave.
“Wait a moment!” Inif immediately called after her, “Could you… could you help me with one more thing?”
“No, no way! Don’t even think about it; how could I possibly have time to help you fight for the throne?”
Yuliya was talking about getting rich now, ready to help everyone, but she wasn’t about to grab power!
“No, I just hope you can escort me a bit, to Saint Felis Academy. Once we arrive, I promise to reward you handsomely!”
“Huh?”
Yuliya blinked in surprise and turned around. “Academy?”
“Yes, my actual destination is the academy.”
Yuliya thought for a moment, remembering something about how she’d take the throne once she graduated.
Looks like she’s one of those students.
“Let me ask, how far is this Saint Felis Academy, and what do you study there?”
“A few tens of thousands of miles away.”
“Oh, that’s pretty close.”
“Huh?” Inif blinked, “Close?”
“What do you study there?”
“Mainly magic and martial arts.”
Yuliya shrugged her shoulders, “Is that it?”
“Ah… also, history and theology.”
Yuliya’s eyes lit up; now that sounded interesting!
“Are there Elves at the academy?”
“Yes! The headmaster is an Elf.”
Yuliya clapped her hands, “Now I have to go!”
