Chapter 420: Grand Debut
The arrival of a new instructor at Saint Felis Academy is, believe it or not, a big deal!
In Saint Felis City, the Academy calls the shots, and naturally, the instructors run the Academy.
This new instructor? Major VIP status. You bet everyone’s all ears!
After the first class, Jed popped out of the classroom.
And what do you know? For the second class, it’s… magic theory!
Even better, he’s got the class all to himself.
Students stream out, heading to their respective classrooms.
On the way, they can’t stop chatting about the Elves.
“Lady Riya, we’ve got a magic class below. What if we run into the new instructor?”
Yup, it’s a hot topic!
“Guess it’s all about luck. Kaise, remember to learn from me: be mature, be composed, don’t freak out. Let praise or blame pass like a breeze.”
“Yes, ma’am!” Then Kaise cocks her head and asks, “So does being mature mean we might meet the new instructor?”
“…” Yuliya turns to Heidis, “Let’s have your big sis answer that one.”
Heidis blinks, then chuckles, “Honestly, all instructors are pretty similar. They must be capable to teach at Saint Felis Academy.”
Uh… Are we really worried about the instructors being capable? It’s the Elves we should be focusing on!
But…
“Are you so calm, Heidis? Have you met an Elf before?”
Heidis nods, “I’ve been fortunate enough to.”
Kaise lunges over, “Heidis, tell us! What are they like?”
Heidis ponders a moment, organizes her thoughts, and slowly says, “Beautiful, graceful, powerful, kind – they cry for the misfortunes of this world.”
“Being around them feels like meeting a monk with a massive sense of duty.”
“I’m not sure if that one was particularly special, or if they’re all like that.”
Kaise frowns, deep in thought.
After a moment, her expression scrunches up in confusion.
“Why does that feel… a bit like Lady Riya?”
Yuliya’s jaw drops.
Wait a second… What the heck? How can you even think of me?
This little kitty’s going off the rails!
Heidis looks at Yuliya, then back at the image she painted.
Not identical, but there’s certainly a lack of resemblance!
“Kaise, as much as you adore Riya – and yes, she’s got her strengths – maybe let’s keep such comparisons to ourselves.”
“Right, right! Kaise, zip it! No wild comparisons!”
“I’m not wild!” Kaise pouts.
“When I first met Lady Riya, she was exactly as Heidis described! I knew right away she was definitely a saint!”
At that, Heidis scrutinizes Yuliya again, ultimately shaking her head.
“Did you get the wrong person?”
“Lady Riya~! You tell her!”
“You’re mistaken, end of story.”
With that, Yuliya swiftly slides away.
Can’t keep this up!
When they finally reach their classroom, Inif is already waiting inside, waving at them.
This gesture leaves quite a few people in the classroom stunned.
This ice queen upperclassman is actually greeting people?
Yuliya walks up, sits next to her, with Kaise right beside her, and Heidis at the edge.
“Inif, what are you doing here? Isn’t this a freshman class?”
“Quick secret: our instructor mentioned this is the first class for the new teacher at the Magic Academy. We were encouraged to come and check it out. Look around – there are lots of upperclassmen here, even a few instructors.”
“Oh, so you’re here for the new instructor’s class?”
“Yup… totally.”
Kaise clicks her tongue, “Definitely not! She peeked at our schedule and knew we’d be here!”
“Stop being such a chatterbox, kitty!”
“If you don’t want me to jabber, you can always skip class.”
“Enough! No noise in the classroom!” Yuliya interjects, separating the two, “Heidis, keep an eye on Kaise. If she misbehaves, you… take away her dinner!”
“Whoa! That’s brutal!”
Heidis chuckles, “I’ll do my best.”
After some light chit-chat, Inif extends an offer to answer any questions they might have about the Academy.
Suddenly, the class bell rings.
Everyone sits up straight, ready to welcome the new instructor.
Just when all eyes are glued forward, the lights in the classroom unexpectedly vanish, plunging everything into darkness.
Everyone freezes for a second, but thankfully stays composed.
Curiosity tingling, they exchange glances, waiting for whatever comes next.
They’ve been through similar surprises before.
The next moment, a flicker of flame suddenly ignites at the podium.
A small, flickering flame, like a candle’s light.
It dances around, lighting a few more flames here and there.
In no time, a bunch of flames are swirling around the classroom.
Like shimmering stars or glowing jewels, dazzling and bright.
Suddenly, all of the flames converge into one spot, merging together.
They elongate, twist, and start sketching patterns in the air.
Transforming into a flower, a bird, a beast, and finally, a hulking creature no one recognizes.
Fire serves as its scales and armor.
Then, a resounding screech echoes, like bird song but far more triumphant.
At the same time, a streak of blue breaks through the darkness from above.
It’s a bird-shaped creature made of ice!
It swoops in circles before diving toward the fiery beast below.
In an instant, stormy winds and rains clash with thunder and lightning, ice versus fire battling it out!
The chaotic sounds of wind, rain, thunder, beastly roars, and bird calls scatter all around.
Suddenly, the two forces collide, shattering the storm and scattering everything, leaving behind a swirling mix of red and blue.
The colors spiral and blend into a perfect orb shape.
Moments later, the sphere explodes, showering the surroundings with bright, multicolored light.
The illumination drives away the darkness, brightening everything within the classroom.
At that moment, a figure quietly materializes at the center.
“Question: how many types of magic were contained in everything that just happened, and how are their levels classified?”
As everyone is still savoring the spectacle, they whip their heads toward the podium.
There, in the spotlight, stands a golden-haired girl draped in a black instructor’s robe.
Her features are soft, exquisitely delicate, with no makeup, just a natural, classic elegance mixed with youthful charm.
A vague, enchanting smile dances on her lips, blending seriousness with warmth.
Her golden hair floats around her, framing slightly pointed ears.
Noble, graceful, yet approachable.
Definitely an Elf!
“Well then, I’ll ask again. Just how many types of magic were involved in what just happened, and how are their levels classified? Does anyone care to answer?”
