Chapter 435: A Report
The next day, Yuliya went to class like every other day.
During the break, Kaise suddenly handed a newspaper to Yuliya.
“Lady Riya, look! You’re in the newspaper again!”
“Huh? Why am I in it again? I didn’t do anything yesterday, did I?”
“Uh… are you completely sure you didn’t do anything at all?”
Heidis, curiously, asked, “Did you guys pull off another big episode?”
After they returned from their escapade yesterday, Heidis had been itching for details. But Yuliya merely brushed it off, “I just added a club, that’s all.”
She didn’t want to elaborate, and Kaise and Inif couldn’t quite explain what had happened either.
Mostly because they didn’t fully grasp the situation themselves.
All they knew was that they had been shouting “666” at some point.
And voilà! They made it into the newspaper.
Yuliya unfolded the paper, and the three of them peered at it together.
”Morning Urgent Report of the Saint Felis Daily”
Yes, not a formal report, but an urgent one.
There was only one article, and the title quoted directly.
“Lady Riya has joined our Serene Reading Club; other clubs should kindly refrain from bothering her. Otherwise, I will directly apply for a duel.”
—Wales, Chief of the Theology Academy and President of the Serene Reading Club.
What a surprise! This Feihua News Agency didn’t even do the clickbait thing—what you see is what you get.
This was Yuliya’s first thought.
However, she soon realized something was off.
The news agency didn’t skip on the dramatics because they were just using that line—it was already explosive on its own.
“Lady… Riya?” Heidis looked at Yuliya, then at Kaise. “You guys even got someone to duel for you? What on earth did you do?”
A duel was the ultimate method for students at Saint Felis Academy to settle conflicts.
Once you stepped onto the duel stage through the proper channels, the two parties became bitter enemies.
Though there would be instructors around to keep things from getting too out of hand, injuries were unavoidable, and serious injuries were all too common.
So, when Wales made such a declaration, it essentially meant:
“I protect her; if you mess with her, you’ll have to deal with me first.”
Wales himself had a decent reputation in the academy.
New students might not recognize him, but the title “Chief of the Theology Academy” held enough weight.
Kaise shrugged.
“Don’t ask me about it; I can’t explain it, but Lady Riya has apparently taken over the entire club.”
Yuliya could only facepalm and keep her mouth shut.
She had plenty of reasons to suspect that the news agency folks were lurking around somewhere, just watching her.
This whole thing had quietly happened yesterday, and now, this morning, it was an urgent report—most likely, right after she left the reading club, they swooped in to interview everyone.
Yuliya felt helpless about it.
She had no idea where these spies were hiding!
Her sensing abilities were sharp enough that she could spot someone peeking at her, but the problem was, wherever she walked in this academy, countless eyes were always on her.
Like right now, in this classroom, she could feel numerous furtive glances aimed at her.
Chances are, one of those was a member of the news agency.
What could she do? Such was the burden of being a charmer.
Now, a lot of students in the classroom were holding newspapers.
It looked like they had just come out during the last class, because now, in the break, many students were checking them out.
With her already eye-catching looks, and now being featured in the paper multiple times, practically no one in the academy didn’t recognize her.
In terms of fame, she was definitely more prominent than Wales at the moment.
Ignoring all those looks, Yuliya continued to read the article.
However, before diving in, there was a special note.
Special Note: The following content has not been edited, expanded, embellished, exaggerated, adjusted, or taken out of context, solely to provide readers with the most direct and authentic situation.
Upon seeing this, Yuliya felt a chill down her spine.
With such a notorious clickbait habit, this stunt was clearly because the content was already explosive enough that it didn’t need any tweaking.
[Feihua No. 2: Senior Wales seems to be in an excellent mood today. Is there some joyful reason behind it?
Wales: Haha, naturally! It’s all thanks to your club for helping plan our recruitment campaign; it worked out splendidly!
Feihua No. 2: Well, it’s mainly because the reading club has a solid foundation and influence, giving us the room to plan. So, can Senior Wales share his joy with us and the readers to come?
Wales: Of course! We’ve recruited newcomers, one of whom has received unanimous praise from me and other members of the club. Her arrival is truly an honor for our group.
Feihua No. 2: Oh? And who might that be?
Wales: A freshman, named Riya. You all know her.
Feihua No. 2: No way! Senior Wales, are you aware that this Riya is quite the darling among all the clubs, and in the end, she went with the Serene Reading Club?
Wales: Is that so? But if it’s Lady Riya, that makes perfect sense.
Wales: So, once again, I declare—Lady Riya has joined our Serene Reading Club; other clubs should refrain from bothering her. Otherwise, I will directly apply for a duel.
Feihua No. 2: Hiss~ a duel? Have you already reached that level? But I must still remind you, Senior, Lady Riya is just 11 years old this year; is it too early for her?
Wales: Please don’t joke about such things; I mean it. I have the utmost respect for Lady Riya and no ulterior motives.
Feihua No. 2: Sorry, looks like I misunderstood. So, you mean we can wait?
(Thunk! A bit of chaos ensues in the studio.)
(Three minutes later)
Feihua No. 2: I’ve come to deeply understand that Senior Wales absolutely respects Lady Riya; it’s a matter of acknowledgment and belief. Now let’s continue our interview.
Wales: Sure.
Feihua No. 2: Actually, I’ve always had a question: why do you call Lady Riya ‘Lady’? What’s the deal there?
Wales: Respect! It’s not some kind of game!
Feihua No. 2: Got it. After all, Lady Riya may be petite, but twisting it around like that—regardless of how small she appears to others, she’s towering in my eyes.
(Thunk! Snap!)
Wales: Lady Riya, that’s absolutely not what I meant! You all better clarify that, or I’ll—
(BOOM! THUD!)
(The interview was abruptly halted due to the interviewer getting injured and fainting.)
In response, the President of the Feihua News Agency commented: This incident teaches us that power is truly important. If No. 2 had been strong enough, she should have managed to wrap up the interview smoothly. Unfortunately, she wasn’t up to par and had to be taken to the infirmary; she hasn’t woken up yet, so the report is being written by an assistant.]
