Chapter 442: Picture Talk
After surviving a rather pointless class meeting, the moment everyone had been waiting for was finally here: the Classical School magic class.
This time, the classroom had changed; it was different from where they were last week.
When Yuliya and her friends arrived at the classroom, they realized it was a large lecture hall.
Last time, they were in a medium-sized room that could fit one hundred people, but this time the large hall could accommodate three hundred!
But even in a large classroom, by the time Yuliya got there, it was nearly full.
Seriously, just five minutes had passed since the last class ended, and they were nowhere near the start of the new one!
Luckily, the spots for the students who were originally assigned to this class had been reserved, amounting to around sixty or seventy seats. The ones auditing the class had to fit into the other spaces away from the center.
Before long, the classroom was completely packed.
Yet, there were still students streaming in from outside, looking left and right, before finally choosing to stand awkwardly against the wall.
Kaise couldn’t help but exclaim, “So many people…”
Heidis sighed, “Well, it is Euphilia’s class. Not only are we newbies squeezed in, but a ton of upperclassmen have come too, and some have even ditched their own classes just to audit this one.”
Euphilia had caused quite the scene during her first appearance.
And with yesterday’s explosive performance at the welcome party, she had instantly become the most popular instructor at the academy—no contest about it.
“I wonder if the instructor has prepared any surprises this time?” Kaise said, casting a knowing glance at Yuliya.
Yuliya shrugged, “Who knows? Maybe yes, maybe no.”
She can’t exactly say that Euphilia is still snoozing, can she?
It wouldn’t affect her anyway—none of this was her problem.
Just as expected, Euphilia swaggered in right on the bell, making her way to the podium.
She took a look around the classroom and was pleasantly surprised, “Wow, so many people?”
Not only was every seat filled, but even the back and the four aisles were packed with students standing!
Only the center area remained a little sparse, reserved for the original students.
What was meant to hold three hundred people now had an estimated four hundred and fifty crammed inside.
If this were Blue Star, such chaos would be a major issue, but here? No one cared.
As long as it didn’t interfere with the original bunch in the middle or disrupt the class, people could squeeze in however they liked.
Heck, they could even hang from the ceiling! (Though that would be a bit disrespectful to the class.)
“Before we get started, just a heads up, from this week onward, we’ll be following a normal class schedule. I’ll be holding two sessions each week, and it might feel a bit tight.”
“What I’m teaching is quite advanced, requiring not just comprehension but also plenty of review and practice afterwards.”
“My class will keep pushing forward without backtracking. If you can grasp the material, you’ll keep up; if not, well, maybe this method isn’t for you.”
“This is my first time systematically teaching as an instructor, and I may make some mistakes along the way. To put it bluntly, you all are my experimental subjects. Just keep up with my pace—fall behind, and don’t overthink it.”
“Even if nobody makes it to the end, I won’t change my methods. Whether I change or not will depend on the final conclusions from this experiment, and any adjustments won’t come until next semester.”
She then cast a fierce gaze over the entire class, “Got it?”
Many students collectively gasped.
What this meant was, everything taught in this class—mistakes included—was to be followed closely! Don’t listen? Get out!
How domineering!
But isn’t that what makes it more interesting and challenging?
Now, I’m curious to see what this instructor’s up to!
“Understood!”
Everyone echoed back together.
“Alright, let’s begin class.”
“First, we need to understand the foundation of magic and what it consists of. It’s explained in the textbook. Can anyone answer?”
This was a super easy question—anyone who had peeked at the readings could respond.
Euphilia casually pointed to a raised hand from a newbie.
“Magic is the gathering of magic power, guiding the elements of nature in an orderly fashion to create wondrous phenomena.”
Euphilia nodded, “Good, that is indeed how our academy explains magic. Regardless of whether it’s the Classical or Modern School, this foundation remains unchanged.”
“Now, let’s focus on the key points of that sentence.”
With a wave of her hand, she wrote four words on the blackboard: Magic, Magic Power, Guidance, Elements.
But then, she erased the first and last words.
“Magic is our desired outcome, while elements are inherent to nature. So that leaves us with two necessary conditions for casting magic: Magic Power and Guidance.”
“We all know what Magic Power is, but how exactly do we guide?”
After finishing this sentence, Euphilia wiped off the word “Guidance” and replaced it with another term—”Belief.”
She then added a parenthesis, writing down “Imagination.”
“Through imagination, act as you wish. That’s my understanding of magic.”
Explaining magic this way, starting from their original concepts, would make it easier for the students to grasp.
“So, if you want to learn magic and enhance your magical prowess, it all boils down to these two things: Magic Power and Imagination.”
“In the next class, we’ll discuss the direction of Magic Power; today, let’s talk about Imagination.”
“Now, I have a question for you all to explore together.”
Euphilia snapped her fingers.
The classroom was once again plunged into darkness.
At this point, students were no longer panicked; instead, they were a bit excited.
Wasn’t this another performance?
But this time, they didn’t get what they expected. Rather, a single frozen scene appeared.
On the podium and blackboard appeared an image.
In the picture were three individuals, each making different poses, with a blurry, tiny background in the distance and an unremarkable setting up close.
Euphilia stood before the image. She pointed at it and asked the students, “Can anyone tell me what story this picture is depicting?”
This question left all the students scratching their heads.
A story? Where’s the story in this? It’s just a picture!
What on earth does Instructor Euphilia want?
With a smile, Euphilia looked at all the students, “I’ll give everyone three minutes to think it over, and feel free to discuss quietly among yourselves.”
Whispers of discussion quickly erupted.
Meanwhile, Euphilia shut her eyes and stood quietly.
What was she up to?
It was simple: picture talk!
If your imagination isn’t strong enough, then it’s time to train it!
Back on Blue Star, they had plenty of experience—practicing this since elementary school.
Just keep practicing, open your mind, and a suitable path will emerge!
