Chapter 475: The Horn of Counterattack
Mitina and Euphilia were in a hurry, so of course, they didn’t take the usual route and just flew straight up within the academy.
Sure, that’s a violation of school rules, but the alarm had barely sounded before it was abruptly cut off.
The security team poked their heads out, only to quickly retreat again.
No need to worry about them; these two were on a mission, and they were doing it together!
This little escapade was bound to make it into the Saint Felis Daily.
Both ladies from the elf race had a bit of an enigmatic air about them.
The academy head had always been cloaked in mystery, and Euphilia had been particularly secretive recently, so seeing them both out and about together was quite the headline-maker.
They zoomed over to the teleportation array in Saint Felis City.
With Mitina leading the charge, they breezed through and directly teleported to the Rensyi Kingdom.
No sooner had they emerged from the array than they instinctively looked up at the sky to the south.
At that moment, dark clouds were plainly visible, swirling ominously.
Within the clouds, patches of deep purple looked like they were hiding some horrific monstrosity, with occasional flickers of violet lightning flaring up.
“Wow, it’s gotten pretty bad already, and that guy’s still buried underground,” Euphilia muttered.
“Whenever divine power leaks out even a little, strange phenomena are bound to follow. This world really has a way of rejecting divine beings. Let’s move quickly,” Mitina responded.
No more chit-chat; they picked up the pace.
News of the two elves’ arrival spread like wildfire throughout the city, reaching a tall tower soon enough.
“The elves have arrived… it seems the academy head is personally here.”
“Should we do something about it?”
“Let’s just watch for the time being. Maybe we can help them a little.”
Meanwhile, Euphilia and Mitina soared towards the ruins.
Mainly, it was Mitina doing the flying and Euphilia hitching a ride.
Although she could easily outpace Mitina, being just an avatar, she couldn’t afford to wear herself out.
So while she was along for the ride, she flipped through the data compiled by Kaise.
This spot was once called the Land of Hope long ago, with various beast races wandering about before gradually moving away.
She also stumbled upon some information about curses.
And a baseless rumor within the Cat Race — apparently, the fall of their divine being was linked to this location.
“This place is something else. Don’t elves monitor sites like this ahead of time?” Mitina asked.
“Easier said than done! We can’t just decide to keep watch whenever we want. Our manpower is limited, plus this ruins has been quiet for so long that we never expected anything would suddenly go haywire,” Mitina explained.
“And do you have any idea how many places like this exist in this realm?”
Euphilia raised an eyebrow, “Wait, there are many?”
“Who can tell the truth from the lies? Every place has its own ancient tales, and until catastrophe strikes, no one knows which legends are real and which are just stories.”
Euphilia sighed, “You’ve got it tough.”
Mitina chuckled, “Well, so do you.”
“…”
Guess I’m on a sinking ship now!
After a while, Euphilia suddenly looked down, “Hey, that’s Professor Danny down there! Let’s say hi!”
Danny hadn’t mastered flying yet, so his speed paled in comparison to the legendary Mitina.
And not long after the celestial phenomena emerged, the star compass picked it up.
So there was Danny, still running through the wilderness.
The two swooped down quickly.
“Professor Danny!”
“The academy head? And Euphilia? What brings you here…?”
“We’re here to handle the bizarre happenings.”
“You continue on to the city and, in the name of Saint Felis Academy, summon people to secure the area around the ruins and clear out the monsters spilling forth.”
“Well, uh, Riya’s still in the ruins.”
“I know,” Mitina nodded. “I have her location, don’t worry. She’s fine for now.”
Even if the entire ruins collapsed, she’d be fine.
Hearing the academy head say that, Danny finally breathed out a sigh of relief.
Not long ago, the protective barrier on him had already fizzled out.
They exchanged a few more words, and Danny took off to the city to follow orders.
The two ladies then soared back into the air, heading directly for the ruins.
This time there were no stops, and they landed right at the original entrance of the underground ruins.
But this entrance looked nothing like it used to. It had expanded dozens of times in size, and the ground was riddled with cracks, with endless black mist billowing out.
Despite that, a few adventurers remained in the area, all at least Gold Level, with a few being Emerald Level.
The weaker ones had already been shooed away, and the stronger ones were valiantly holding off the monsters crawling out of the ruins.
Most of them were beastmen, forming the first line of defense.
Euphilia spotted a familiar figure among the crowd — Sifann, the Tigerman.
He seemed to be coordinating the defense as best as he could.
The two landed beside these adventurers.
In an instant, every single person’s attention was on them.
Elves! Flying! Legendary level powerhouses!
“I’m the academy head of Saint Felis Academy, here to address this situation. You’ve all done great work, but it’s time to retreat — the current situation isn’t a major threat yet.”
The monsters in the ruins could only operate under the shadow of the clouds, and there was still time before they fully enveloped the city.
“After you withdraw, report to the city’s guards; they’ll handle the rest.”
“Awesome!”
“Thanks, ladies!”
“With the elves here, the other races will surely take notice too. Everything will be fine; it will be resolved.”
Euphilia surveyed the area, “Is this all the adventurers here?”
She distinctly remembered a guy named Jaine who should be with Sifann.
“Yeah. Ugh, a really powerful guy bolted not too long ago.”
“Better get moving yourselves.”
Euphilia shook her head, dismissing any thoughts of petty troubles.
Once the last few adventurers had cleared out, the two exchanged glances and ventured into the underground ruins, heading straight into the black mist.
The underground ruins looked vastly different now; the original path had been obliterated and buried, new unknown corridors popping up seemingly out of nowhere.
But it didn’t matter to these two — no path? They’ll make one!
Euphilia picked a direction, and Mitina charged straight ahead.
As they plowed forward, clearing out monsters that crossed their path, they delved deeper into the underground.
Euphilia held up a hand, “This should be far enough.”
While speaking, Euphilia raised her hand, summoning a bright white light into her palm.
The light quickly expanded, forming a glowing sphere that enveloped both of them.
In an instant, the sphere collapsed and vanished.
The next moment, they found themselves in a subterranean cavern.
What greeted them was a scene dyed in crimson light, the colossal underground space looking soaked in bl**d, twitching and undulating.
With each pulse, a section of ground seemed to vanish from sight.
“Finally here! I’ve been waiting ages. Your turn, Mitina.”
A melodic voice echoed in Mitina’s ear.
She turned and instinctively caught hold of a certain shapeless black object that appeared to be a beastman.
She paid it no mind, her gaze focused on Yuliya.
Yuliya extended her hand, and Euphilia responded in kind, their palms touching.
In the blink of an eye, Euphilia vanished into thin air.
Suddenly, Yuliya’s entire aura shifted, transforming from friendly to imposing.
“Divine beings, this land belongs to humanity, so scram!”
She thrust her hand forward, obliterating a mass of crimson light.
