Chapter 486: Clear Thinking
As Euphilia and her gang passed by, they didn’t even spare a glance, just waltzing right into room 316.
The crowd outside: …
Something feels off here.
Eh, whatever.
One by one, they plodded in after them.
At the doorway, heads popped up like curious meerkats, all trying to peek inside.
Euphilia glanced back at them and directed two members from the Security Team to get the scoop on what was happening, checking the stories from Nancy and Mevis while also inquiring if they’d discovered anything during that time.
But, of course, she instructed them to keep the actual situation under wraps to avoid causing unnecessary panic and trouble.
Meanwhile, Euphilia was meticulously inspecting their dorm rooms—one by one, she was going through them.
“I can see through to a certain degree, so I’ll be scanning everything, including your closets. You might want to brace yourselves for some personal items I may come across. If there’s anything I shouldn’t see, just let me know in advance,” she announced.
Nancy nodded eagerly, while Mevis’s cheeks flushed slightly, but she also gave a nod.
“No worries! We trust Dean Euphilia; you can look at everything!”
With that, Euphilia set to work.
Not a single nook was left untouched as she sought out any sign of clues.
Unfortunately, it was just standard girl stuff—nothing special.
If she had to grasp at straws, there were some mysterious magical gadgets that made no sense to her but had nothing to do with magic.
Maybe they were workout tools?
Also, while Mevis claimed her room was a mess, it was actually remarkably tidy.
You could tell she was a disciplined person.
Nancy’s room was decent too, but still fell short compared to Mevis’s pristine organization.
As for the onlookers outside, they had already gathered enough from their previous visit to know that the rooms were anything but clean.
If Euphilia was really lurking around for inspections, according to her standards, those two would be racking up some serious demerits.
After checking the rooms of the two, Euphilia didn’t forget about the empty ones and decided to take a look.
Both of these rooms were equally spick and span, with barely a speck of dust in sight.
“Do you two clean these vacant rooms often?” she asked.
“Yep!” Mevis replied. “I do a little cleaning now and then.”
“Have they been cleaned in the last few days?”
“Last week… five days ago,” she continued.
“I cleaned them once the day before yesterday,” Nancy suddenly chimed in. “I was tidying up my room and remembered that Mevis often cleans these two, so I gave them a quick wipe down as well.”
“So, you guys haven’t been in here since you fell asleep last night, right?”
Nancy nodded, “Nope!”
“But why are there footprints here?” Euphilia pointed toward the area by the bed.
Upon hearing that, the other two turned to look, but didn’t actually see any so-called footprints.
“Where? I don’t see anything,” Mevis said, stepping forward to take a closer look but was halted by Euphilia.
“Don’t go over there yet.”
They were just standing at the doorway, not daring to step inside.
“I can see them; there are definitely footprints,” Euphilia asserted confidently.
Her conviction was so strong that, despite the lack of evidence for others, no one could question it.
Mevis looked a bit flustered and asked, “Are those… ours?”
“Not sure.”
“Can’t we do a comparison?” Nancy wondered, puzzled.
“We can’t; it’s just a small part, not enough to identify. Since you two frequently clean this room, but there are footprints, that means the alarm was definitely triggered here,” she said.
Silence ensued.
Looking at their expressions, Euphilia contemplated and said, “For now, you don’t need to worry about this matter. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing. Also, don’t touch this empty room; leave it as is.”
Euphilia waved her hand and shut the window.
“Umm…” Both girls hung their heads low.
“That’ll be all for now; we’re leaving.”
With that, Euphilia left room 316, calling the other Security Team members to join her as they headed back.
On the way, the Security Team, heads down, muttered apologies, “Sorry, Dean, we didn’t find anything.”
“It’s fine,” Euphilia shrugged it off.
If it were that easy to uncover something by just asking, this wouldn’t be so complicated.
“Did you find anything, Dean?”
“Not sure.”
Hmm… not sure means she found something or not?
The Security Team members looked utterly confused.
“Why don’t you guys head back for now? I have some stuff to take care of.” Euphilia waved them off and sped away.
This left the two officers exchanging bewildered glances.
In the end, they sighed in unison.
They just couldn’t wrap their heads around Euphilia’s thought process.
But then again, Euphilia was notoriously known for her lateral thinking and her boundless ideas.
Meanwhile, Euphilia marched toward her office.
Today, at least she had a little nugget of insight—the so-called footprints.
Though they really weren’t footprints; just a smudge, and located not where she pointed, but beneath the window.
That little mark indicated someone had indeed stood by the window.
It could have been one of those two, or perhaps someone else.
But Euphilia surmised it was more likely to be someone else.
She recalled an important detail—when she first sensed the alarm’s location, the source had been in motion.
Why would it move?
If it were one of those two triggering the alarm from within their dorm, why would they step outside?
Even if they were panicking and forgot to cancel the magic, they should have stayed put in their own rooms. Home is where it’s safest!
Only a sneaky outsider would make a hasty choice to run in a panic.
This made their innocence look pretty solid, shifting the focus onto someone else.
Next up, they’d need to dig into the interpersonal relationships of those two.
That’s where Riya comes into play—she had a powerful network of information through the Feihua News Agency!
