### Chapter 488: Something’s Fishy
Euphilia admitted it—this time, it was her blunder.
She should have never, ever let him show off his magic. Curiosity, in this case, was not a good thing.
Looking back now, how romantic could an abstract character, who turns declarations of love into life-threatening situations, actually be?
Great, now everyone who witnessed it probably needs a cleansing session on the dark web.
Euphilia was mentally exhausted.
She dispelled the darkness, and daylight returned to the scene, then turned to Mitina.
“Alright, you decide what to do with this.”
Mitina sighed too: “What to do is pretty clear. A warning this time, deduct some credits, and drop the rating to the lowest level. If there’s a next time, he’s out on his ear.”
That was a light punishment, by the way.
This was not just about triggering alarms; sneaking into the girls’ dorm was a serious offense!
Mitina’s decision took into account that he hadn’t caused any actual harm yet, plus there was that magic trick.
As for the content of the scene—let’s not get sidetracked. The type of magic was quite similar to Euphilia’s, just rough around the edges.
But it was his original creation, made before Euphilia even showed up at the academy.
It’s worth mentioning that Euphilia’s debut magic display had shaken the whole academy, being incredibly groundbreaking.
If it weren’t for Euphilia, Galqi would be the talk of the town making a splash!
He had a genuine talent, even if his brain was a bit questionable.
But hey, that’s how it goes; when your mind has some quirks, your imagination can take flight!
After Mitina made her ruling, the case seemed closed and ready to be wrapped up.
Just then, Euphilia suddenly raised her hand, “Wait!”
Mitina tilted her head, looking at her, “What’s up?”
“Hold on, let me think.”
Euphilia had just got Mitina to hand down her punishment while simultaneously passing judgment in her mind since she’d uncovered the whole thing and knew the details inside out.
If Mitina was way off with her judgment, Euphilia would definitely have added her two cents.
But while pondering the details, Euphilia noticed some inconsistencies.
According to Galqi’s account, his actions and motives made sense.
Including the fact that as a student council member, he’d heard the gossip about the Security Team, so he managed to hide at just the right times.
As for that last time, when Euphilia was ready to drop the investigation, he popped back out thinking the Security Team would back off. So, of course, he got cocky and—boom, explosion!
All of that made sense, easy peasy.
But the most puzzling part was this:
The very first time Euphilia encountered him at room 316, he somehow escaped through the window, but then, where did he go afterward?
Based on her initial theory, the most plausible explanation was that he used delayed magic. But Galqi claimed he was the one testing it out to see the effects and abort the spell if necessary.
“Galqi, after you trigger the alarm, do you always return the way you came?”
Galqi blinked in confusion, “Uh… y-yeah.”
“Nope, you’re lying. In the most recent times, you should not have returned the same way.”
“W-What? How could that be?”
“I’m pretty sure!” Euphilia locked eyes with him, saying with absolute certainty, “Because I was watching. You didn’t return, and there was no one outside, so where exactly were you?”
“Um… well… okay, Professor Euphilia, I was hiding.”
“Hiding where?”
“I was on the other side.”
“You didn’t alert anyone else?”
“No.”
Euphilia suddenly smirked, “I highly doubt that.”
There’s no way that could actually happen.
“And think about this: how come you could sneak in through the window of an empty room each time for so long? Nancy and Mevis have cleaned that room multiple times, yet have they never closed the window?”
Euphilia turned her gaze to them.
Mevis shook her head, “Well, we close it, but sometimes we open it for ventilation.”
“But usually, the window is closed more often than it’s opened, right?”
Euphilia glanced at Nancy, “Though the chances are slim, considering these two suspicions, I’m guessing someone is helping Galqi.”
Two suspects here: Mevis, who’s Galqi’s crush, would surely not assist him, leaving only Nancy.
Nancy: …
Mevis turned to look at Nancy, disbelief on her face, “Nancy… tell me it’s not true! You can’t be in on this!”
Nancy remained silent.
Mevis rattled her shoulders, “Nancy, say something!”
The sudden twist left everyone else, including Euphilia, a bit dazed.
Euphilia was only making reasonable deductions based on the situation but could never guess what was going on in people’s heads.
Finally, Nancy sighed, “I’m sorry, Mevis. I actually know about Galqi and have sometimes left the door and window open for him.”
“You… why on earth would you do that?”
Mevis voiced everyone’s confusion, even Galqi had no clue why Nancy was helping him.
That night, Nancy had spotted him, and in a panic, he ran away without even cancelling his spell.
The next day, Nancy sought him out for details and then… surprisingly said she could help him, but only if she could distance herself from the mess if things went south.
So even if Galqi got caught, he hadn’t mentioned Nancy in his confession.
But Euphilia saw through the details, and that was game over.
“I…” Nancy stammered, losing her usual composure.
“What?”
“I…” Nancy glanced at Mevis, took a deep breath, and firmly declared, “I did it for you!”
“For me?”
“Yes! I like you! Mevis, I want you to see his foolishness and ugliness, and I’ll be there to protect you!”
“Uh?” Mevis blinked in astonishment, and then, bam! Her face flushed crimson, and she wobbled before plopping down.
Nancy rushed over, “Mevis? Are you okay?!”
Meanwhile, the bystanders were all completely dumbfounded.
This… this is getting pretty bizarre too!
In the next moment, Euphilia slammed her hands on the table and sprang up, “You guys are just ridiculous!”
With that, she vanished into thin air.
“N-No! Euphilia! Don’t panic!” Mitina also disappeared.
Now everyone was even more befuddled.
“Uhh… was it just me, or did Euphilia look a little red in the face just now?”
“Mitina chased after her…”
“I heard the elves tend to be more emotional…”
Holy cow! Everything’s totally off!
