Chapter 68: The Business Wizard
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky stood there, stunned for a long time.
Was that Mandarin? Why couldn’t he understand a word?
He chuckled, “Young Master Wang, could you say that again? I didn’t catch it.”
“Liu Haotian, don’t play dumb with me. This conclusion was reached after our collective discussion. It’s for everyone’s benefit.”
“Is that so? Then what can I get out of it?”
“You will gain everyone’s respect.”
That made him laugh, as well as a few others. Only WZC had the gall to deliver such a line without breaking a sweat.
Fiery Conflict Across the Sky scanned the crowd, taking in every player’s expression around him.
While a bunch were players from various Beginner’s Villages who eventually made it to the main city, the first batch to finally emerge were quite coordinated.
In other words, these people were already hard to recruit. Not that it was impossible, but the cost of poaching them would be steep.
“Alright then, since everyone’s speaking up, I suppose I should show some courtesy. Here’s the deal: I have something very urgent on hand, but after… four days, I will personally deliver the goods you need.”
Upon hearing this, many players brightened up and began whispering excitedly among themselves.
However, the leading trio—WZC, Social You Long Ge, and Magic City I Am the Craziest—exchanged glances of concern.
They had put in a lot of effort to rally these players together to pressure Fiery Conflict Across the Sky.
But alas, despite the grand principles at play, it ultimately came down to self-interest—namely, securing their breakthrough materials.
Now, with Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s promise to gift them the materials, their interests were already met.
As for whether that “personal delivery” came with strings attached, that was a discussion for another day.
When even the player, who was arguably second, or perhaps practically first, was making concessions, refusing to budge would just make them look greedy.
However, while others’ interests were met, the trio was left high and dry.
Four days didn’t matter much to the average player; they could complete quests and grind experience in the meantime, and it would pass in no time. But for them, who wanted to dethrone Fiery Conflict Across the Sky, it was a huge limitation.
They were already two days behind. A further delay meant losing their chance entirely.
At that moment, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky added, “I’ve already made my biggest concession; you three aren’t actually dissatisfied, are you? I trust you wouldn’t let your personal desires undermine everyone else’s benefits, right?”
That was a killer shot.
You can rally the crowd to pressure me, but I can confidently turn that pressure right back on you!
Right now, in the main city, if players split into three factions, 20% of them belonged to Village 66, whom Fiery Conflict Across the Sky had already primed for this confrontation as they had decent relationships.
Another 10% hailed from WZC’s guild, making them Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s direct competition.
The remaining 70% came from other places. They were merely following the soup, but their sheer numbers gave them a crushing advantage. Whichever side they leaned toward, the other side would have to give in.
Watching the trio’s faces turn the color of pig liver, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky felt a surge of exhilaration.
He chuckled inwardly, “Think you can play me? Wait until I deal with you, my little brothers. I’ll squash you!”
The trio quickly exchanged glances before WZC took the floor.
“Haha, Brother Tian speaks the truth. We have no objections! It’s just that we wonder if you could expedite the delivery a bit? We are all waiting to level up and tackle some monsters, you know how tough they are in the main city.”
Still trying to butter him up, they were just picking on the new players who weren’t savvy about the city’s ins and outs.
“Well, that’s going to be a bit tricky…” Fiery Conflict Across the Sky feigned a conflicted expression. “To be honest, I’ve only got 100,000 Sunfruits on hand, and I need at least half for my own people, plus a reserve. Give me some time to figure things out, and I’ll have a precise answer for you.”
Though both sides were going back and forth with their little bluffs, they had unintentionally appalled the representative of the so-called “70% of other players.”
After Fiery Conflict Across the Sky loosened his stance just slightly, it ultimately led to a superficial reconciliation among everyone.
The crowd was about to disperse when suddenly a soft, sweet voice piped up.
“Huh? Why are so many of you gathered here?”
A petite figure clad in red wriggled through the crowd, and it was our lovable Nuclear Bomb Little Sister.
For some unknown reason, the moment she appeared, Fiery Conflict Across the Sky’s heart sank a little.
He had a bad feeling.
“Ah! I know! You all must be here to buy something! If you’re looking to purchase anything, just ask me; I’ve got it all covered here!”
Indeed, they had originally clashed right in front of the Qingfeng Chamber of Commerce’s shop. Xu Xiaofeng happened to stroll by to check the situation and scavenge for other money-making opportunities.
Stepping forward, Lin Shaohua introduced himself, “Nuclear Bomb Little Sister, hello! It’s our first time meeting officially; I’m Young Master Hua.”
“Oh! You’re the big brother who’s been supporting my streams!”
“Yes, that’s me,” Lin Shaohua grinned. “We were here, mainly looking to buy Sunfruits. Do you know where we can find them?”
Know? Oh, I know all too well!
“This? Sure thing! You guys wait here; let me go have a look inside. Just don’t come in yet, okay?”
With that, Xu Xiaofeng strolled into the shop, nonchalantly shutting the door behind her.
The players outside looked utterly bewildered, unsure of what she was up to, but they opted to stick around to find out.
Once inside, Xu Xiaofeng immediately flashed her VIP badge at a store employee, saying, “I need to see your manager.”
The employee didn’t recognize her, but the store manager certainly had no trouble with that.
Soon, she was ushered into the employees’ room, where the manager personally brought her a chair and some juice.
“Manager Eugene, I’ve been super busy lately and haven’t had the time to keep up with the Sunfruit situation. Could you explain it to me?”
“Of course, Miss Wind,” the manager began, pulling out a ledger. “The last batch of one million had been paid for and picked up by customers, and we just received a new shipment of about 100,000.”
“You know, the surrounding areas have been completely harvested, and now we have to bring them in from hundreds of miles away, so it’s definitely become a lot tougher, making the efficiency drop.”
“I understand. Please tell President Harry that he should hold off on shipping out the rest of the stock from all branches for a few days. But we will accept full prepayment.”
The Qingfeng Chamber of Commerce had shops all over the outskirts of Emerald City, and players were dispersed all around. However, since Fiery Conflict Across the Sky was here, their representatives had converged to create this commotion.
“Full prepayment? Miss Wind, typically it’s only thirty percent for preorders…”
“I know, but we’re asking for full payment this time. And there’s no limit on the amount preordered, but the unit price will increase by 20%.”
“This…”
Manager Eugene wanted to point out that business wouldn’t usually work like that.
However, glancing at the young girl who managed to land a whopping 5 million gold coin order in just a few days, he bit his tongue.
“Understood, Miss Wind. I will promptly relay your message to the president.”
With everything sorted, Xu Xiaofeng stepped out of the shop.
As soon as she was outside, she gleefully shouted, “Hey there, big brothers and big sisters! The manager says we can do some preorders! I’m not too sure how it works though; do you want to ask?”
What the heck! Preorders?!
Let’s go, go, go! We have to ask!
