Chapter 74: My Name Isn’t Hey, It’s Nibelun!
Xu Xiaofeng didn’t even think about going over there.
She got up bright and early, all set and ready, zipping over to the Teleportation Array leading to the inner city.
They had already agreed yesterday that she would go to the festivities with Sister Elia today.
Since it was a celebration, there were bound to be tons of delicious treats, right?!
As for the stalls in the outer city? Not a worry in the world.
After all, which dimwit player would dare to stir up trouble on her turf—Xu, the Evil Overlord, Two-Faced Angel, Nuclear Bomb Mentor, Princess’s Little Sister, Xiaofeng?
Just as she expected, the moment a random male NPC stood there, the players were all obediently standing in line.
Oh? Can’t we skip the mission? Such a shame not seeing Nuclear Bomb Little Sister around.
But some folks weren’t too pleased, thinking this was incredibly irresponsible.
“Don’t you think she’s completely ignoring us players? The way she just finds someone to fill in is really…”
Before he could finish, he felt countless unfriendly gazes around him, and they were only increasing.
“Seriously… it’s just… so unique! I love it! Ah! Just thinking about how she completely looks down on me, her eyes filled with disdain, makes my brain tremble! I can’t get enough of it!”
Upon hearing this, the surrounding looks instantly turned to approval and admiration.
This kid has potential; he could be put to work for the country, generating human power.
As soon as Xu Xiaofeng arrived from the Teleportation Array, she indeed spotted Amelia waiting for her.
They greeted each other and headed off to a different location.
Changing the scene.
This time, Steven wasn’t along for the ride, and the three girls felt much more relaxed and casual.
For instance, Amelia kept trying to reach over to ruffle Xu Xiaofeng’s hair, but just before Xu could notice, she’d pull her hand back.
Elia simply chuckled, saying nothing.
What could she do? Her cute little sister was just too adorable! Any sane person would struggle to resist!
Today, Elia was dressed in a light-colored gown, but Xu Xiaofeng couldn’t quite see what was so special about it.
To her, it all looked the same—exquisite, luxurious, and ridiculously expensive, just like her usual outfits.
“I originally planned to get Little Wind a dress too. But it seems your outfit is quite extraordinary as it accentuates your charm. Can I ask where you got this dress?”
This question left Xu Xiaofeng in quite the bind. She had no idea how to answer!
She only knew this was her unique equipment, and she had no clue where it came from or what it was made of.
So she just shook her head: “I don’t know. I’ve had it since I can remember.”
Elia watched her somewhat despondent expression, and a storm of thoughts surged in her mind, instantly concocting an epic storyline about a girl whose parents left her with a final gift, growing up alone, resilient through a hundred-thousand-word novel plot.
Gently, she hugged Xu Xiaofeng and patted her back, comforting her: “It’s okay, just know that it’s something very important.”
Even though she was a bit confused by Elia’s sudden action, Xu Xiaofeng nodded obediently: “Uh-huh, it’s really important.”
When the time was close, the three of them set off for the celebration venue.
The festivities were being held in a luxurious square, and they arrived directly via a Teleportation Array.
In the square stood a rather dilapidated high tower, which seemed a bit out of place with all the decoration around.
“That’s the Heroic Spirit Trial Tower. It has many layers, and depending on who enters, different hero projections will fight on each floor. This will be the last event of the celebration, also the recommended activity for adventurers to participate in.”
Elia carefully explained to Xu Xiaofeng.
“Climbing the tower seems pretty fun!”
Doesn’t that just mean rewards?
Even though everyone is tired to d*ath from grinding in the Abyss, people still love those Abyss rewards.
As soon as Elia appeared in the square, she instantly attracted everyone’s attention, and they rushed over to chat her up.
Meanwhile, under Elia’s cue, Xu Xiaofeng quietly slipped into a corner.
She had zero interest in the conversations happening and focused her gaze entirely on the banquet table.
That red fruit looks delicious… that cake smells heavenly… and the juice looks so pretty…
Gulp~
She swallowed but kept her hands firmly pressed under her bottom, making sure they couldn’t reach out.
I’m a grown-up, very well-versed in etiquette. If the master hasn’t said to start, I can’t budge. Even if my hands are possessed and out of control, I’ll forcibly seal them away.
Don’t treat me like a three-year-old!
Even though Xu Xiaofeng tried her best to sneak away quickly, she still caught the attention of some folks.
They watched the little loli’s strange behavior, cocking their heads to the side: “Where did this kid come from?”
“No idea; she seems to have come with His Highness the Princess. Why don’t you go ask?”
“With the Princess? Never mind, I’m not looking to stir up trouble.”
Kids can be such a hassle, especially when they’re unverified and possibly of high status. One misstep, and you could find yourself in a heap of trouble.
And right now, with the situation in the Imperial Capital being tense, it was best to steer clear of His Highness the Princess, no matter how small her influence might be—who knows, a messy conflict could lead to major bloodshed?!
Thus, despite noticing Xu Xiaofeng, many still had no intention of approaching her, which made her feel a lot more at ease.
Once enough people had gathered, Elia stepped up to the podium to make a speech, then announced the celebration officially begun.
The theme of the celebration was the emergence of the new generation, bringing together the young nobility of the Imperial Capital and surrounding areas for a collective coming-of-age ceremony.
This ceremony happens annually, and especially in recent years, with the Emperor’s health declining, the strength of the younger generation seemed more crucial, making the ceremony even more grand.
This time, it was hosted directly by the empire’s first princess.
In the Jade Emperor Kingdom, the coming-of-age ceremony takes place at sixteen, so Xu Xiaofeng still had a ways to go; she was just here to have fun with Elia.
Once the ceremonies officially kicked off, the atmosphere got lively, albeit a bit chaotic.
And without the constraints of adults, the impulsive young folks began to act unruly.
They noticed a little guy in the corner, piling up plates of food, stuffing his face like he hadn’t eaten in centuries, turning their noses up.
That demeanor was completely against noble etiquette; it was like he was starving!
“Hey! Little Guy! Where are your adults? Didn’t anyone teach you manners?”
Xu Xiaofeng lifted her head, blinked her eyes, then pointed at herself: “Are you talking about me?”
“Yeah, you!”
She wiped the cream off her mouth, straightened up, and said, “First of all, my name isn’t ‘Hey!’ It’s… don’t worry about it.”
“And secondly, Little Guy, where are your adults? Didn’t anyone teach you manners? It’s really rude to interrupt someone’s meal.”
