### Chapter 8: The Grumpy Old Man and the Stinky Girl
Xu Xiaofeng first helped her little sister sort out the affection quests and identified key NPCs—the ones with important items or super high experience points.
However, the game was so realistic that NPCs in different beginner villages each had their quirks. While the village itself ran like a well-oiled machine, the personalities of the NPCs varied wildly.
So, Xu Xiaofeng could only list targets like the weapon store owner needing to be wooed, and the pawn shop lackey offering experience quests, etc.
As for how to charm these NPCs… well, there’s no choice but to rely on cold hard cash! After all, there’s only one Xu Loli in this world. Not even her little sister would do!
Each person spends a hundred gold coins, and with more than ten people, that’s over a hundred thousand RMDB—yikes!
Sigh, another fortune spent on her little sister. How would she ever repay it? Maybe she should just buy a maid outfit! If you buy it, you’ve got to wear it yourself!
Xu Xiaofeng daydreamed happily.
After wrapping things up, she looked out the window; the sun was already up.
Since players weren’t online yet, she began preparing for the big plan of the day.
She trotted over to the Lord’s Mansion and greeted the guard before stepping inside. The city wasn’t big, and the residents were pretty familiar with each other, even the lord himself didn’t act too high and mighty.
But just because he didn’t have an ego, it didn’t mean she could be reckless. Basic etiquette had to be maintained.
This train of thought gave Xu Xiaofeng a bit of a headache. Her ultimate cutesy charm skill had been sealed, and getting the lord to agree with her plans was going to be tough.
With her head held high, she walked in, ready to face what could very well be her biggest challenge yet.
Entering the hall, she saw a jolly-looking uncle sitting at the head table—none other than Fan Lif, the lord of Falling Leaf City.
“Is there a guest, Lord Uncle?” Xu Xiaofeng asked, glancing at the two teacups on the table.
“Nope, just having morning tea with my wife. What’s up, little girl? Why are you here so early?” he asked.
“Uh… um, yes.” Xu Xiaofeng nodded awkwardly, “Uncle, I was hoping to borrow the teleportation array in the city.”
“The teleportation array? If you want to use it, go right ahead. It was built for the residents,” he replied.
“No, no… I mean, I want to reserve it… like, monopolize it for a while.”
“Hmm…” Fan Lif opened his mouth to respond but paused, then noticed the slight smirk on the girl’s face, “What are you up to?”
While the teleportation array was civilian-use only, it seemed like she didn’t have normal plans. This definitely involved some risks.
“Well… um… yes! Grandpa Bond said those outsiders want some express delivery service—like directly sending their purchases to designated places. I thought I could use the teleportation array for that!”
Bond was the biggest shop owner in town, and he’d hit the jackpot yesterday when a bunch of adventurers arrived, making a killing by selling consumables.
Of course, he had no clue what express delivery was, and Xu Xiaofeng hadn’t mentioned it to him beforehand.
But that wasn’t a problem! Based on her understanding of this money-hungry guy, once she sorted out the teleportation array issue, he would definitely cooperate.
“Using the teleportation array for delivery? Now that’s a unique idea.” Fan Lif nodded, “But why didn’t Bond come to talk to me himself?”
“Ah… that’s because Grandpa Bond has been dealing with rheumatism—it makes his legs wobbly, so he sent me!”
Poor Bond didn’t even know when he’d caught that illness.
“I see.” Fan Lif pulled out a piece of paper, scribbled a few lines, and stamped it with his seal. “Take this.”
“Thank you, Lord Uncle!”
As she exited the Lord’s Mansion, Xu Xiaofeng was still dazed. She couldn’t believe that something she thought would be difficult was so easy to accomplish.
This was a teleportation array—a strategic asset that could be militarized at any time. Was it really appropriate to let a little girl play around with it?
Could it be that my charm has reached earth-shattering levels—what’s a monumental task for others is but a few words for me?
Three sentences got a man to spend a million on me; I’m such a terrible person…
Ugh! A facade! It’s all an act! I’m actually a big shot!
Meanwhile, back in the Lord’s Mansion, a man walked out from the back and sat across from Fan Lif.
“Edward, is it really okay to let that girl run wild like this? The teleportation array isn’t a petty matter. We know what kind of guy Bond is—he’s only interested in raking in small profits, but it looks like she’s aiming for something much bigger.”
The newcomer was indeed Edward, who had gotten entangled with Xu Xiaofeng yesterday. Technically, he had arrived even before her but had just ducked out of sight.
“I’ll keep an eye on her. If anything goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility,” he assured.
“True, especially since you’ve handed over your legacy to her. You’re brave.”
“Mind your own business.” Edward took a sip of his tea. “By the way, how did the background check I asked you to run on her go?”
“Nothing at all, except that she came to our city four years ago.” Fan Lif smiled knowingly. “She’s quite remarkable.”
“And from the moment she appeared to yesterday, there’s been nothing unusual with her. But yesterday’s situation felt like a totally different person. I suspect…”
“You mean possession?” Edward shook his head. “I checked thoroughly; there’s no chance of that. It’s more likely she suddenly awakened some kind of inherited memory.”
“Inherited memories…” Fan Lif gave Edward an amused glance. “You certainly have a fixation on such matters.”
“Anyway, I’ll handle the girl’s matters; you don’t need to worry about it.”
With that, Edward drained his tea cup and left the Lord’s Mansion.
Unbeknownst to Xu Xiaofeng, who was entirely focused on her money-making schemes, she was oblivious to what was brewing at the Lord’s Mansion.
Wait a minute, money-making schemes? What money! All the money is Bond’s—the guy who’s blinded by cash! I’m just a caring pigeon, diligently delivering packages and focusing on top-notch service.
“Ninety-one percent, I get ninety, you get ten.”
“Stinky girl, don’t be too greedy! At least give me twenty percent!”
“Old man, don’t push your luck! I’m handling everything, even got the Lord’s seal! You’re just here for publicity, and I can’t afford to give more than ten percent.”
Xu Xiaofeng was adamant: “If you disagree, so be it! There are plenty of people who’ll do this if you won’t. If I go to that guy Hansen down the street, he’ll work his tail off for me.”
She picked this shop simply because it was the biggest and had the most foot traffic. But if this couldn’t be agreed upon, she wouldn’t mind switching.
“Ugh…”
“Humph!” Xu Xiaofeng feigned to turn and leave.
“Hey, girl, I’ve agreed!”
“Deal! Grandpa Bond is usually very generous; he has a good reputation. You’re the first person I thought of for this good fortune.”
“Ah~ the girl is kind-hearted and eager to help!”
“Bwahahahaha…”
“Muahaha!”
They exchanged smiles, like a certain famous dragon and a crafty chick joining forces.
